Does anyone have Chef Gordon's Email? If so, please PM it to me-otherwise he may get inundated with Emails from here if you post it for everyone! When we were at HH last, he gave it to all at the Longview Cooking Club, but I've lost it in a recent move. I'd love to surprise DH with a Private Affair next trip. Also, anyone who's done the Private Affair-what did you have to eat? Looking for recommendations on food choice.

Hi: I used to have Chef Gordon's e-mail, but don't anymore.

When we were there in August, we had the crab cakes (excellent) tilapia (a very mild fish), can't recall the veggies but had creme brulee for dessert. There may have been another course, but I can't remember what it was. Everything was quite delicious and plentiful. Enjoy!

His Email is: ChefLCC@cs.com

I just checked our confirmation letter with him for our July trip. It will be our first time doing this with him and we are really looking forward to it..

We did A Private Affair for the third time this March. Our appetizer this time was this incredible shrimp with carrots in a ginger sauce. Sounds weird, and I normally would not pick carrots, but it was so unbelievably good. We had filet and crabcakes as our main dish. We had the crabcakes our first time as an appetizer, and they are not to be missed. For dessert since it was my DHs birthday he requested "something with caramel" and Chef Gordon made us a caramel fondue we are still talking about. Last year we had a chocolate pots de creme that also was heavenly. You cannot go wrong with anything he does, we often let him guide us and have never been disappointed. I can't believe I have to wait almost an entire year for our next A Private Affair!

Thanks for the info, I just sent him an Email. Now I'm more nervous-we're hoping to go in March, and it might be busy!

How much does this special meal cost per person? Can children participate? Thanks!

Could someone post more information about what this is? Sounds interesting...

Thanks - RuthnPaul

Chef Gordon's A Private Affair is $150 for up to three people. Then it's $50 per person. It's well worth it. Not only is the food great, but Gordon is a wonderful host and he spiffs up Signals to make it a really special event.

Children can participate, but IMHO, young children probably wouldn't fully appreciate it. We've done APA with our teens and they thoroughly enjoyed it (but were not able to take advantage of the wines offered, LOL!).

I have heard of people who have brought their kids along, but brought other food for them to eat, and activities to keep them busy. You might want to check with Gordon to see what he recommends.

Here is a copy of the sample menu I received when I booked "A Private Affair" for August 5. We can't wait.

Everything on the menu sounds absolutely scrumptious -- it would be very difficult to make a single selection for each course! Wouldn't it be great if you could sample everything on the menu??

If, for example there are four people for supper, does each person pick what they want from menu or are all four served the same menu?

<<If, for example there are four people for supper, does each person pick what they want from menu or are all four served the same menu?>>

LOL This is exactly what I asked. Yes, each person gets their own choice.

It is done over at the restaurant Signals at the Beach house after it closes. Chef Gordon sets the table nicely and if weather permits opens up the doors facing the ocean. It's amazing how the snack bar transforms for the evening!

VMS,

Thanks for the information. This sounds very romantic (and yummy!) We're not headed to the World until mid-October (darn!!) so I'll have to look into this...
