HHI bait recommendations

Will be heading down there as a pit stop on the way to BCV and would like to do some fishing off the pier with the kids.
Anyone have any bait recommendations?

My kids always go to Kroger there by the resort and buy raw chicken to use as bait.

Pepperoni, chicken livers, shrimp, anything like that.

You can try both but will probably have very little luck. Was there last week and fished one morning with no luck except a crab. Summer is usually not a great time to fish off the pier.Spring and fall are much better.

Ended up going to Walmart and buying night crawlers. Fished for 30 minutes or so and caught one Spot.
Got too hot and left.
