HHI at Thanksgiving?

Anyone been to Hilton Head over Thanksgiving? If so, how were the crowds? Were most of the restaurants and shops open? How warm/cool was it? How were the beaches? Does HHI DVC do anything special for the holiday?

Any info is much appreciated.

We did it two yeras ago and it was great,very laid back. The pool was heated and at low 70's the kids were fine swimming.On Thanksgiving Day there is a football game at the beach house which the family enjoyed and we pre ordered a turkey and all the trimmings from Disney. We were a bit sceptical about that but it was actually good. They cook by the pool all day long so you smell turkey while swimming. There are activities all day long so we could be busy when we wanted to or just hang out.

We've been there several times and will be there again this year. It's one of our favorite times of year to go!

One year, it was warm enough to go to the beach (not in the water, but to sunbathe...). Last year, it barely got out of the 40s.

We enjoy the Turkey Bowl (touch football game) on the beach.

You can order dinner from the resort: either roast or deep-fried turkey with all the trimmings. Several local grocery stores offer ready-made dinners, but you have to pick them up the day before. Many restaurants have dinner buffets, or you can make your own, like I do.

The pools are heated, so swimming is possible -- it just might be a little nippy when you get out of the water.

Have you ever been to HH before? Do you need general HH info, or just specifically for Thanksgiving?

We went to Hilton Head three summers ago. The place we stayed at was a very expensive dump (to put it politely). The wind was blowing and the sand was stinging all of us, so we didn't really spend too much time on the beach. We did do a little exploring but the trip was a wash for the most part.

Guess the girls were trying to compare the beach experience to Destin and it didn't quite match up.

We will definitely go again, just gathering information so we can plan better this time. We have always wanted to go at Thanksgiving and thought this might be the year we make it.

I've not been to the resort, mainly because I live here , but the weather is unpredictable. The past couple of years have been warmer, shorts even in the day time. But 2-3 years ago we had like 45 straight days of sub freezing temps that started late Nove through January which is odd for here. Just have to watch the Waeather Channel that week and see what it looks like, shorts or sweats...
