HHI at 7 months in Feb?

Although I could go back to WDW several times a year, DH has put a temporary moratorium on on-site visits for 2002. That's actually OK, since we don't have a bunch of points to use up (we borrowed for our last trip). However, we will have enough points to make a 6-day trip to HHI next February vacation. (last week in Feb - a week later than most New Englanders - NOT President's week).

Has anyone tried the 7-month window at HHI in February? Any luck? I'm looking at a studio, Sunday-Saturday, since we might have to drive. I could probably scrape together enough points for a 1BR, although we're trying to save most of our 2002 points for a large family reunion in 2003. I realize that "my mileage might vary", but I'm just curious to find out if any of you have had any luck for that time of year. The good news is that I can afford to be waitlisted if we drive because I won't have to worry about non-refundable airline tickets.

I can't change my dates since I teach.

Hi!

We have had luck in early March at way less than seven months. It is very quiet down there then, at both the resort and the entire Island. My bet would be that you won't have a problem,but at 7 months nothing is guaranteed. Good luck!

Crusoemom, I don't think that you will have much of a problem at that time of the year, even looking for a studio. But please keep in mind that (I suspect that you already know this) that there is no telling what type of weather you will have regarding for swimming, etc. I would also request one of the studios not located in Live Oak Lodge because they have a bit more room.

Hi Crusoemom. I think you'll be able to get what you want at 7 months. We are also from NH and have that very last week of Feb for vacation. We spent Feb vacation 2000 at Hilton Head. We booked at less than 7 months out and had no problem, although we stayed in a 2 bedroom. My boys swam in the pool everyday and did all kinds of outdoor activities. The ocean was a bit chilly, but they did swim in it a couple of times. We had a blast and ended up buying a HH add-on before we left!

Do you have any friends that are members of II? If so, you should be able to pick up a 2 BR Ocean front unit at Grande Ocean or Barony. Both are Oceanfront and nice resorts. Price should likely be around $325 for the week for Feb. It's not DVC but in some ways they are better resorts.

Thanks for all the replies - I mentioned my idea to DH, and he didn't say no right away, so I think there's a chance that he'll warm to the idea.
