We want to add on 100 pts at HHI to be able to book summers at 11 months. :cool2:Should I even bother calling my guide, or just stick to resales?
TIA! :goodvibes

We need to add on too...just 50 pts for April UY. I swear, if I see a small contract on the resales I am going to jump all over it. Right now cost per point is $80 through DVC where it is $55-$57 through resales. I feel like I am betraying my guide, but in these economic times, what am I to do? :confused3 Hopefully a small contract shows up before June or so because I need to book a two bedroom for next summer and I need those extra 50 pts!!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Keep us posted!!!

Thanks for that info - I really can't believe the price difference is that much! :scared1:
We will be going the resale route - hopefully that "perfect" contract will come for us!

This is an interesting question, because it seems that gap between resale & direct from Disney price for HHI can end up being much smaller when closing costs/fees for resale contract is added to price per point (add-on through Disney will not have closing costs). DH and I have been thinking on an HHI add-on for some time now in order to book there at 11 mos as others here have said; we will probably finally pull trigger in next couple of months so we can have the points to book when window opens in Sept. If we don't purchase before July then having to wait out ROFR & for points to show up in account with resale would make us lean toward deciding in Disney's favor, although we'll also keep running the numbers to see ultimately which is the best route to purchase.

:)

We added on last year through Disney and paid $80/pt. We would have added on resale if we had found the right contract. We want another 50 points this year, so I'm watching the resales daily. If we can't find what we want by September, we will add on through Disney again. I want to be able to book a 2 BR for October 2011, so I would need the points in my account by November. It just seems impossible to get the right contract via resale for HHI.

Just added on 60 points at HHI thru TSS(already had 210 OKW and 50 HHI) @$60 pt. We had been looking for a small add on with Feb use year and took a while for it to come up but when it did, the process was quick and easy..I'd recommend TTS to anyone.

We also bought our resale through TSS for a great price. Resale is the way to go!! We are now going on our fourth summer at HHI and wouldn't want to miss it!!

Bigeyore,
I would seriously consider resale. Exactly the same thing as purchasing through Disney except resale will save you a substantial amount of $$$$$.:cool1::banana:

As someone who has used the TSS twice in the past and currently for a 50 pt HHI contract I would recommend going direct. Don't take this the wrong way. I have never had a problem with TSS and the process is easy. However, I am kicking myself because I had been waiting for a 50 pt contract for HHI to come up and when it did we grabbed it. Like a fool I hadn't sat down to figure out all the numbers. The TSS contract was a loaded contract and that is what we saw. Knowing the best we could do from Disney would be '09 and '10's points. When I finally sat down and did the numbers if you exclude the banked '08 points I was getting through TSS the cost difference was $325. Closing costs in S.C. are higher than in FL. I had missed my chance to back out of TSS contract by 5 days so I would have lost my deposit. I decided what's done is done and let it go. Two days later it was still bothering me and I called my guide. I was going to sacrifice my deposit to get my existing UY (HHI contract had a different UY) and be able to close immediately and not have to wait for ROFR. Unfortunately, I have an April UY and I called on April 4th. As suspected I would not be able to get the '09 points. At that point I gave up on the idea of going direct and will just have to be happy with what I get. Now I am hoping that everything goes through fast enough to be able to bank '09's points.

Take it from me do all the numbers out first. Don't just react to a contract you really want. In my case I wasn't paying $55 - $57 p/p and the numbers between the two were much closer. It would have been a savings of $825 if it was $55 p/p.

I recently bought a 150 point HHI contract, my UY. It had 38 banked 08 points, all 09 banked and all '10s coming June 1. The asking price was $53 per point. I went in and offered full asking and asked the seller to pay closing. The seller accepted.

However, with all the points and no closing, I was afraid I'd be ROFR'd and actually came back after the fact and offered to split closing instead. The seller was thrilled, I passed ROFR and closed quickly. I also saved $3600 over buying from Disney and ended up with 36 points I would not have gotten. ( I was able to reallocate the 36 '08 points into a booked Spring Break trip to HHI and use them before they expired )

This is something we are also considering. We've gone twice to HHI for Spring Break but would love to go sometime in the summer and know the availability at 7mos is slim to none. Will have to run the numbers and see how things go.
