Well, we are just back from a week at HH. It went by too fast and we weren’t ready to come home. We stayed in a GV (1822) with my parents, sister and her family, and my brother and his wife. We also stayed in a studio our first (1133) and last night (1212)night. It sure was hard downgrading from a GV to a studio – even if it was for one night! Overall, we had a really good week. It did rain several evenings/days but we were still able to do everything we wanted.

We had signed up for the kayaking, but we spent the first hour taking care of paperwork, receiving instructions and waiting to see if the rain was going to clear (couldn’t see lightening but could hear thunder). We finally decided to back out because we were cheap – at $105 for DH, me and 2 DDs, we didn’t want to be out for 20 minutes and then have to go back because of weather. I believe the policy is 20 min or less, it will get rescheduled and anything over 20 minutes that was it. Well, we no sooner got back to our villa and it was a torrential downpour and 40mph wind gusts. We heard a couple of days later on our dolphin cruise that someone in that group had gotten blown up onto the oyster beds and cut their leg pretty badly. From what we were told, live oysters are razor sharp. I’m sure it was a scary experience for everyone that was out in the creek when that came in. I guess sometimes it just pays to be cheap because we were almost out there too.

We went on the dolphin cruise through Disney, and it was better than our previous dolphin cruises! We were originally scheduled for 4pm on Wed, but it was canceled for weather – of course right at 4pm, the sun came out and was out for the rest of the evening. We rescheduled for noon on Thursday and they honored the member rate since our original one was canceled. We saw a couple cows with their calves, tons of jellyfish (our captain even snagged one so we could see it up close) and had several come right up to the boat and say hello (dolphins, not jellyfish). DH got a great picture of one sitting back on his tail looking up at us. We ended up going all the way down Calibogue Sound past Harbour Town to South Beach. It was really neat to be right on the edge of the open ocean.

We also saw a pod of dolphins while we were at the beach, tons of marsh rabbits, Shadow, squirrels and a variety of birds. We saw quite a bit more wildlife this year than previous years and I have no doubt because they are all being fed on a regular basis. We noticed at the lodge that there was some melon left out for the birds and there are bird feeders all over, which I don’t remember from 2 years ago.

Sorry this is so long and I am sure I have forgotten something, but I just can’t wait to go back next year. I guess the only consolation is that we will be at WDW in less than a month. We took a bunch of pictures of the GV (and the resort), so we will try to get them posted in the next couple of days. If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer them.

I forgot to add where we ate while we were there - Kingfisher, Eugene's and Boathouse II. First night was at Kingfisher - Dh's meal and mine were excellent, the kids' fried shrimp was overcooked. I know someone posted recently that they felt that the value wasn't good for the money and someone else made the same comment while we were eating at Boathouse II last night, so I don't know that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone else - but for us, it had the best food of the 3 places we ate and the best value for our money. Eugene's was good, but not quite as good as Kingfisher. Entrees were priced about the same as Kingfisher. Boathouse II was good, but I didn't feel that for the money it was a good value. Our meal came to $91 before our $25 coupon and that was more than Kingfisher or Eugene's. The man at the restaurant who felt that Kingfisher wasn't that great for the money thought Boathouse II was fantastic - I really wasn't eavedropping, he was just that loud! So like everything in life, everyone likes something different.

Glad you had a great time!!! And all the dolphin sightings sound really neat.

Made me want to go back again NOW.

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the nice report. I am so ready to be there!!:teeth:

I'm just gald to see another Shadow sighting. We were there and did not get to see Shadow.

I guess that is a reason to return.

Glad you had a nice time! We will be there in August for the first time.
When did you sign up for the dolphin cruise? After check in or prior to your trip?

We signed up for the dolphin cruise after check-in. I think we signed up on Monday for the Wednesday cruise and had no problem rescheduling for Thursday after our Wed cruise was canceled. There are 3 boats that go out for each time with a max of 6 per boat. The times are 10a, 12p, 2p and 4p. I know in the past there has been a fireworks cruise as well on Tuesdays, but the fireworks don't start until 6/11.

HBC - Shadow is really looking old. Since she is the offical mascot of the resort, I wonder if she will be replaced when she is gone.

One other little tidbit - When my sister took the Behind the Ears tour, the CM mentioned that it looks as if Disney will lose the rights to Pooh (based on the ongoing lawsuit) and he mentioned they are talking about replacing the faux pooh and tigger topiaries in the front of the resort with Bambi and Thumper.

I soo hope that doesn't happen about Pooh. Love that character, particularly for the little ones.

And if it happens, I wonder what ramifications that will have at The World (thinking of the relatively new--3 yo--pooh bear ride and character meals at crystal palace, etc...)

I think the Pooh family is making a BIG mistake!

Thanks for the scoop!

Our favorites too. DH & I could ride with Winnie all day long (the kids would be so mad at us). It's so cute!

I hope Disney doesn't loose the rights.:(
