Hi! We will be staying at the DVC-HH in a few weeks. Does anyone know of a "New England Clamshack" Style restaurant - you know, casual, outdoor dining, yummy fried seafood platters!!

Thanks!

Excellent Seafood! Very casual! No outside dining, however they do take out! So, order and bring it home to enjoy outside on your veranda! What could possibly be better. Crabby Nick's is only a 5 minute drive from the resort. Just leave the resort when you get to the light turn right and the restaurant is on the right hand side (careful not to miss it because it is so close to the resort). Enjoy!:wave2:

Actually thats called Moby Nick's now.

As far as I know it is still owned by the same people though. Some locals didn't like the name Craby Nicks as it was technically named after the owners daugher.

EDIT:

Also there is the Crazy Crab which you will pass when you first come onto the island.

Hudsonds Seafood

Charlies Crab which is a bit expensive.

And Peppers Porch in Bluffton which is that tiny little town you pass just before going over the bridge to Hilton Head.

Captain's Seafood is just a short drive to the right after the stop light on 278 leaving the resort. Captain's is *very* informal; dine in, take out, purchase raw seafood to cook. Very good and reasonable. Last March I had terrific fried oysters there with all the trimmings. Yummy!

Second Captain's Seafood. And I'm from New England, remember some great roadside "crab shacks" down on the Cape. I was also there last March-surprised we didn't bump into each other there at Captain's Seafood.

Another vote for Captain's Seafood. On our second trip to HH this past April it was the only restaurant from the previous trip that we made sure we got back to. (That is except for our evening with Chef Gordon at "A Private Affair".)

I may have to try this Captains Seafood place. Never tried it.

Oh, a tip.
DO NOT EAT AT TONY ROMA'S

Don't ask. Might loose your appetite.

I do eat at tony roma's so you have to tell me what i have been eating.

Well maybe they have gotten better in the last year since last ate there. However, you REALLY do not want to know. Trust me.

I will put it to you this way. Sabrina and I actually thought about calling DHEC (Department of Health and Environmental Control) Food and Beverage Division and it slipped our minds by the time we got home.

Then again. Like I said, things may have gotten better by now, but I am not going to find out.
