We just purchased DVC this year. My parents 50th wedding anniversary is coming up next year and we were thinking of taking our entire family to HH in late June in a Grand Villa.

How hard will it be to book the GV at the 7 mo mark?

What is HH like in June? Unbearably hot and humid? What about bugs? I can't handle bugs.

Will there be enough to keep all ages entertained for 5 full days?

TIA!

Laurie

Getting a Grand Villa at HH in June at the 7 month mark is probably impossible. There are only 5 GVs at the resort and they tend to fill up quickly. The resort itself will likely be sold out (although not right at 7 months).

You would have much better luck if you tried for some time in May (prior to Memorial Day) or late September or October. You would probably like the weather more at either of those times, as well. June, July, and August can be hot and very humid. (Doesn't keep us from going during the 4th of July week every year though!) Bugs are a way of life at Hilton Head during the summer as well. With heat and humidity come bugs. The resort does treat for them, but you will need some insect repellent.

Please don't think that the resort is a horrible place to be! It's definitely not; our family really loves it there! But, the heat, humidity, and insects are a part of life there in the summer.

As far as having enough to do for 5 days, that shouldn't be a problem at all. There is so much to do, both at the resort and all over Hilton Head Island -- 5 days may not be enough! The recreation staff at the resort is top notch.

Hope you will try the resort -- you will probably be able to get 2 2BRs at the 7 month mark, but I wouldn't wait too long to book it!

We have been many times and many seasons to HHI. I can't answer your ? about GW, but it is very difficult to get anything in June July and August at 7 months for Sun-thurs. That's why we added on there in 2002, to get the 11 month window. We have been there twice in June and once in August. Yes, it is hot and humid, but we still enjoyed the vacation. The beach and pools are great and the location of the resort is an easy walk to shops and some restaurants. We even ventured in august this year and we somehow timed it to beat the crazy heat wave. It was high 80's but very tolerable, sat on the porch for meals(no insect invasion as previous post) and the pools were actually refreshing(sometimes they are as warm as bath water). We think that early-mid June is a really great time. alot for kids and adults to do or not....relaxing is our new hobby!

and I do love it all!

8/06 There is a period of adjusting to the marsh smell. I have allergy triggered asthma and in the August heat and low tide there were many breathing complications for me. Although I carry emergency meds I ended up long distance to my allergist with other emergency meds.

The pools were very warm, to the point of not being refereshing.

The trees shade the common areas and the porches are covered.

We spent a day in chairs in the surf to be refreshed.

We do enjoy HH, I will just be medically prepared next time!
