HH or not?

An opinion-seeking question really... we are closing on a DVC resale soon and part of the deal is a studio ressie at HH for 4 nites beginning this Saturday. Because of work situations, my wife wants to cancel the trip altogether (she can't get away easily for three days). I say let's go, stay two nites or maybe even one, then more if we REALLY want to (but I'll have to convince her). Alternative is lose the points entirely.
We are in Atlanta, a five-hour drive from HH.
What would you do?

I would never loose the points....but then again, we love HH and live many hours away (18 or so). I'd say go. If we could do it for a weekend, we'd run out of points quicker than we do. It would be a nice experience to see the resort and relax, which it sounds as if your wife could use with the hectic work schedule (would that help sell her on the idea??).

She sounds like she's really busy, so just make it low key. Tell her you'd really like to go, but are open to staying just one night, if that's her preference. Tell her you'll do all the driving (so if she needs to bring work, she can do part of it in the car if she wants). Maybe both of you could pack extra clothes in case she decides she wants to stay longer. Stressed out folks especially need these getaways.

That loud sound that you just heard was the closing of the door behind me. It took me a while to get my spouse to understand that work is and always will be work. I have never seen a company that lays someone off mentioning how wonderful you were to stay and work instead of taking a 4 day getaway. The old saying about nobody wishes that they had spent more time at work/office will always be true.

I'd go. Your not that far away and if she really needed to get the work done, she could do some in the car or even dial-in from the resort (if what she does is on the computer). Once you get her there I think she will be really glad you talked her into it. The resort is so laid back and relaxing. Makes me wish I was going to HH this weekend, instead of dealing with the snow that is heading our way!
