HH/Oil Spill article

I hope the model is correct for the sake of HH.

Truly a tragic situation for millions who depend on the Gulf, ocean, and beaches that will be impacted for decades.

In today's local HH newspaper, the Island Packet, there is an article suggesting that for the near future HH is likely to see no direct effects of the gulf oil spill due to the unique geological features of the SC coast and current conditions in the gulf.

Glad to hear this since we are going to this beautiful site on Sunday. I wish the gulf coast could have been so lucky..what a tragedy.

Glad to hear this as we're going for the first time in August. Let's just hope this mess doesn't reach the east coast PERIOD!!

We'll be there in 2 weeks and glad to hear HHI will be okay, but such a shame for the gulf.

Not to be the downer, but while SC has some advantages it they do not get the flow stopped the east coast up to Hatteras is likely to impacted later in the summer, it is just a matter of of there are storms that push it on shore.

I sure hope they get it capped, we are in Corolla in mid August so we are in resonably good shape, but with the wrong set of events we could be impacted also. My heart goes out ot those around the gulf.

More likely to hit the North East than Georgia / SC the gulf stream will keep it out to sea. may get some pushed into Jersey and north with noreasters in the fall even if it stops today. In the 60's growing up in ACNJ we had "tar balls" oil wash up a lot, used to throw them at each other

Yes I remember the tar balls also, but in Delaware. Ships used to purge their tanks and there was still some leakage from WW2 wrecks.

One TS is all it takes to push the oil onshore anywhere along the east coast.

There is oil in the carolina sand now. The Carolinas have had tar balls long before machines or engines were invented.
