We just left the HH resort. We had a 1BR in the lodge #1132 - top floor with Marsh View. The villa was in great shape and we were able to pick up the wireless signal inside the villa.

It rained off-and-on yesterday afternoon and then rained all thru the nite - sometimes very hard! It has been raining much of today so far - with moments of sunshine followed by more rain. We left the Disney resort at checkout and are now across the marina. We tried the "Early-Bird" dining at Kingfisher last night. It was pretty nice. Entree including soup or salad and glass of wine or dessert for $14.95. There is also a DVC discount of 10% if you order from the menu. I had the pecan encrusted tilapia and DW enjoyed the salmon.

The view from our room was wonderful. We even saw a gator at high tide in the late afternoon from our balcony. In the past we've seen dolphin, sea otters and even manatee in the same area right next to the resort (within 20 feet of shore). You can easily see the Old Oyster Factory (right across Broad Creek from the resort). From our present location, we also have a great view of the DVC resort. We are directly across the marina from Building 28 - right above San Miguels restaurant.

Building 16 is under rehab right now and they are presently working on free wireless in all of the buildings. That should be completed soon.

Hi, Doc,
I always enjoy your reports and especially the HHI ones.
I am going to be booking a reservation for a 1 bedroom at Disney's HHI for next Oct. as a honeymoon for DSis and new DH. Would you recommend a lodge room (sounds like the one you had was great)? I know that 1 bedrooms are limited. I am thinking that I might pay cash to be able to book at 11 months.

16 of the 21 1BR villas are in the lodge (Buildings 11/12). The other 1BRs are located under one of the 5 GVs at the resort. Only Building 18 would have a Marsh View. These 1BRs can be a little noisy due to the wood flooring in the GVs - the 1BRs are directly under the living room/dining room with the wood flooring.

The 1BRs in the lodge will all have at least a glimpse of the marsh - even though many of them are designated as "island" view - views of the interior areas of the resort, but the lodge villas also do see some of the marsh. Some of the lodge villas are HCA and all are lock-offs.

Our stay last night was a cash reservation ($175 plus tax using the DVC discount). Weekends are often available for cash nites year round. At 11 months, some weeknights may not be available for cash reservations right at 11 months - although October is generally not as busy compared to the summer months. The resort was pretty busy this weekend due to Columbus Day on Monday. Most of the guests are from within a few hours drive of the resort - mainly NC, SC, TN, GA and FL.

It would certainly be worth the call to see if the cash night is available right at 11 months. :)

Thanks, Doc. I will be calling right at 11 months. Hopefully the DVC discount will be available. I want this to be nice for DSis. Her first marriage at age 50!

Wonderful pictures! We spent a week in the lodge last month and are already planning another stay!
Jean, one thing we did not have time to do was visit the local winery-every Thursday they have a wine tasting with snacks for 12.00 a person. It sounded like a nice evening. Maybe your sister and her husband would enjoy this?

Thanks for this info! I will definitely pass it along to DSis. I am planning a trip in May and will try to get there myself to do a little research. ;)

Our next DVC stay is scheduled for HH in March/April. So we're looking for pics and reports from HH - thanks for taking the time to write and share your pictures. We have a two-BR reserved but haven't made any requests in terms of which building might be good. We are traveling with 2 adults and 2 pre-teen boys who will want to swim and be involved in whatever planned activities are going on, so we'd probably want to stay more centrally -- should we make a request? I'm excited to read that wireless internet is being put in throughout the resort!

The resort is pretty compact, so no buildings are far from anything. If you'd like a particular view, I'd make that request. There are three buildings with a pool view.

We've stayed in all areas of the resort and each view has something to offer.

Have a great stay! :)
