I can't wait. We've been in March before, but not in the true "beach weather". It's been a couple of years. Any suggestions on what to do or where to eat? (We will be taking a day trip to Savanna, that much I do know.) Kids are 12, 9 and 7.

Can't give you any advice, but would you please post when you get back on how June compares to March there? We've always gone in March and wonder if it's too hot in June to enjoy bike riding, nature walks. ANd most importantly, how crowded is it in June? Is traffic stop and go? Can you get in to resturaunts with no reservations?

Could one of you previous posters please talk about your March experiences? I'm thinking about next spring break which will be the last full week of March.

I'm used to Alabama barrier islands with variable temps and cold water. So lots of walks, sand castles, but not much actual swimming.

Last June HH was HOT HOT HOT... it 100 a couple of days. As we were driving around in our air conditioned minivan, we were in awe of all the folks on bikes.... none of them looked particularly happy.

We spent all our time in or around the water... lots of sunscreen...

Kyacking was a great recreational activity in the heat, just make sure you bring lots of water.

The Famous Salty Dog cafe is in Sea Pines.. a short and scenic ride. It is located in a harbour area with lots of quaint shops, boat launches, jet ski rental places... etc.

Fireworks are on Tuesday night.... This year we are skipping the BBQ and just heading down for the party.... with littleones so close to the pool, it was hard for us to eat. LOL

There is also some great musician that plays on Tuesday nights near the resort, but the name escapes me. Hopefully someone here cn fill in the blank.

We are there from June 10th-18th and we cant wait!

We went in March of 2002, and have gone June 2003 , June 2004 and we are headng down this June as well.
For us, June wins hands down! We lucked into 3 warm days in March, but it was chilly at night and the non warm days it was in the 50s. Too cold for us.

We go the first full week of June and the weather has been fantastic, we have never had to make ressies for dinner and have not had to even wait to get seated. It's been perfect.

My little guy looks forward to seeing him every trip (so does my DH ;) ).

Here's his website:

It looks like he has a show in Shelter Cove Monday-Friday. We've also seen him out in Broad Creek during his Friday morning cruise.

I'll be there a week before you. Some how I bring an evening thunderstorm with me for everyevening. Has anyone else noticed late afternoon rain at HHI during the summer?
