Has anyone visited HH in January? Do you think it would be worthwhile for an extended weekend? Any comments would be appreciated.

Weather in January at HH can be very unpredictable. It can range from the 30's to the mid 60's. Don't count on great weather and you'll still have a good time exploring the area.

Many of the seasonal activities won't be available, but the resort will still have a full range of activities planned and the pool is heated. Golf and tennis may still be played (weather permitting) and there are still many restaurants open to choose from.

Enjoy!

We arrived New Year's day last year and stayed 4 days. It was our first trip. It also was the first snow they had had in 5 years. We still had a great time and plan to go back this year.

My son swam in the pool while it was snowing. We took the Dolphin cruise even in the cold. It was just my family and we had a great time. My kids and I also took the horseback ride.

We took those heat packets for our gloves and just kept going.

The rooms are beautiful. I am a die hard BW fan but I actually liked the layout better.

I only have one suggestion. If it is cold, put a towel in front of the door. We had a breeze coming through and until my husband put the rolled up towel down, we could not get warm.

Weather on the Carolina coast is quite variable...I've gotten 80's and I've gotten nippy days. The nights WILL be nippy so definitely bring your lighter weight winter coats. I've generally wear my ski gear when I go south in the winter (Atlanta, Charleston) so I can add or remove layers depending on the temperatures. I would bring one or two lightweight outfits because of the possiblity of 80's...one Christmas I was forced to go shopping just to be able to move around during the daytime (it was so hot).

Hilton Head would be moderated by the ocean so you won't get 80's but it can still be nice. Report back when you go because I will probably do my Hilton Head trip in the winter to early spring. I have friends who have stayed for Christmas 3 separate times (meaning...they could have bought DVC by now).
