HH in February

Once my closing happens, what do you think of the possibility of getting a studio or 1 bedroom at Hilton Head during Feb Break???? 2-16-2/21. Probably impossible, but has anyone been there during that time and what is the weather like, is it too cold to golf, have never been and thought it would be a good time to check the island out. Also if anyone has done it from the Northeast (CT), have you driven or flown, and if flown, did you fly into HH or into somewhere else????? Thanks

As with any DVC resort, you'll never know about availability until you call MS and ask. Even though there are very few studio and 1BR units, the availability is constantly changing and what was not available yesterday may well be there today.

Weather will range from upper 50's to 70's in Feb. It is generally comfortable enough to play golf- but the ocean will be too cool to enjoy swimming there. The resort pools are heated however.

There will be many activities available to enjoy at that time.

That is very off time at HH. I would think that you could easily get anything you wanted at that time. Another option is to wait until the 60 day window and try to get one of the Marriott's which you should be able to do for a week for 55 points plus the $75 exchange fee. You could make a HH reservations through DVC which you could later cancel if you decided to.

I've got two weeks booked for 2003 (last week of January and first week of February). This will be my fourth year at Hilton Head in January and we love it there that time of year. Every year except one I was able to play golf with just a windbreak, sometimes not even needing that. The one bad year was more for water than for temperature. The great part of golfing that time of year (Jan or Feb) is that it is the off season. If you get one of the little golf books when you first arrive, or pick up a local Island Packet newspaper, you'll usually find specials that are hard to beat. You can play some very nice courses for $25-$30 during that time of year but don't plan on doing that at Harbour Town ($280 a round, year round)!

Swimming in the ocean is out, but walking on the beach and picking up shells is fun. The pool is heated, but still too cold for me but the hot tub is wonderful. You can still take some of the dolphine tours with a light jacket. Most of the eating places are open, but some close for the season. There are still plenty of activities at DVC including campfires and bedtime stories (go for the cookies if nothing else).

Thanks for the info - sounds kind of like the cape in October, we are new to the Disney Vacation Club, still haven't closed yet, but thought it would be fun to either drive down, from CT, or fly, can get flights under 225 to hilton head, but then you still have to rent a car, so by just staying sunday-friday, we would have the weekends to travel plus use minimal points, and make our first trip as a "MEMBER"!!!!

We have flown into both HH and Savannah depending upon availability and fares. HH airport is easy and convenient, just down the street from the resort.

Savannah is also easy to fly in and out of and adds about an hour onto your travel time. It is a pretty direct route to the resort, however.

Wherever you land, you'll need a car.
