DH is going to take me to Hilton Head next February for our 16th anniversary. We will be there from 2/10-2/15. I've looked back at some of the threads and looks like some stuff will be shut down for the season.

Question - will there be any restaurants open? It seems like most of the activities get you wet - in February this doesn't sound like a good idea! :D Anybody do any of the DRY stuff? Can you recommend anything?

We will probably go to the Outlets one day and tour Savannah one day. Let me know if there is anything in Savannah that shouldn't be missed! :bounce:

Thanks for any and all input!

You may well have temps in the 70's in mid Feb (or temps in the 50's). While I, personally, would shy from canoeing, kayaking or ocean swimming in Feb (even if the air temp is 75- the ocean is likely in the 50's)- there many other activities worthy of a try.

With proper outerwear, the Dolphin Cruise can still be great, a walk on the beach is always a favorite of ours and a long bike ride to explore the island is a great adventure. There are many specialty stores to visit and most of the over 300 restaurants are still open in Feb.

Golf, tennis, shopping and dining are all available year round, besides the selection of activities right at the resort. There are historical sites nearby, horseback riding, theater, museums.

The resort staff can also suggest activities if you run out of other ideas.

Enjoy!

Have been to HH in Feb (but not the Disney resort). You will likely find that the largest group of people in Hilton Head in Feb are there for one major purpose--golf. Weather is cool -- 60's and you can get days in the 50's (and sometimes up into the 70's). Too cool for water activities. Always seemed that restaurants were still open almost everywhere. As far as non-water, non-golf activities I do not know since all of my trips there have been for the same purpose of the majority in Feb--golf.

When in Savannah, try Mrs. Wilkes Boardhouse for lunch (I'm not sure if they do dinner). It's old-timey family style serving of traditional southern food. Wonderful.

We were in HH last Feb. and had such a great time that we're going back this Feb. We'll be there the week after you.The temperature fluctuated between 60 - 75. We did go kayaking and loved it. And I was 5 1/2 months pregnant! We also took the dolphin cruise, which was also great. The only thing my family was dissapointed with was the horseback riding. I obviously didn't go, but my husband, son and sister said it was too short and way too easy. My husband said it was geared to prebeginners. We even got in some swimming. The beach house was closed, but the pool at the resort was nicely heated. Rent bikes. It was great! WE had a wonderful time and hope for the same this Feb. Have fun.

We love Hilton Head year round. We will be going for two weeks in the end of January and have visited in January every year for the last three years. Sometimes it is warm enough to play golf, one time it snowed on us. It's always warm enough to walk on the beach and pick up shells, or to go to the outlet stores (although this is less fun after you've been there so many times.) We find places to eat without a problem. We love to go down to the Harbour Town Golf Course for lunch. Can't afford to play golf there, but we can afford lunch. Charleston is about two hours away, and Savannah is one hour.
Our favorite activity is "NOTHING". Just sleeping in a little late, getting up and cooking a small breakfast and sitting on the porch and having coffee and watching the wildlife. There are two Civil War Forts on the island that can take about 30 minutes or an hour each at the most. If you want you can get a free gift by visiting the Marriot or Hilton Timeshare type things. You probably won't buy if you compare it to Disney, but they usually have a big enticement to visit.

for the great ideas. I know we are going to have a wonderful vacation/celebration. I'm going to print off all the suggestions and see how many I can get my husband to do....I'll have to get him past the sit on the balcony and do NOTHING one!:D Actually, with coffee in the morning that is one of our favoriate things to do....sit on the balcony and watch the world go by.

one more question. Got to thinking today about how I've always wanted to learn how to golf. Since some of the suggestions for February in HH was golf I thought I would ask does anybody give lessons? I've been toying with the idea for a while - hubby says "oh great, all you need is one more expensive hobby"! LOL

I know golf is expensive and I just want a couple of lessons for the both of us - if I don't have to break the bank to do it!

Thanks for any and all help with this question.
