HH - Hard to book at seven months???

Is it very hard to book Hilton Head in the fall or spring without owning there.?My DH and I want to go back to HH but not when it is too cold or hot ( we have been there in January on a DVC promotion and the temp was 89,-- go figure). When we first went there it was newly opened so we could book when we wanted, but we have now seen that spring and fall may be hard to come by at the 7 month window.
Any thoughts??

When we went to HHI last March, we decided in late January to upgrade to a 1 BR, if available. Surprisingly, although it was Spring Break time, we got 4 nights in a 1 BR on that short notice.

Since Spring and Fall are off peak times for the resort, I don't think you will have a problem unless you are trying for Easter or Thanksgiving. June, July or August - different story.

We've had very good luck at seven months the last few years. Last year we stayed the last week in May in a 1 br, in Sept again in a 1 br. This year we have reservations in June for a 1 br as well. Forget July and August, anything after Labor Day your chances are good but call at the seven month mark. We did get our June reservations at the six month mark but I wouldn't chance that again.

We booked a 1 BR for early October at the 7 mo. window. Also, last year booked the week between Christmas and New Years in a 1 BR at about 5 months out. So I'd say chances are pretty good for off-peak times. Good Luck!

We have been HHi resort at christmas/new years 4 times and had no problem reserving at 7 month window. We were lucky and got July 11-14 last year at the 7 month point, but only because we were flexible. June July and August along with April spring break is a very busy time. We added on points at HHI just because we love it and wanted some 11 month points!

Other than mid June to late August, one should not have any problems at the 7 month window.

DW and I didn't close on DVC (if memory serves me correct) until early March, 2002 (our "home" is VWL). We were able to get a 1BR at HH during the week of Memorial Day (Sun-Fri) without much problem.

I booked in the 7 month window for peak time, July 5-10th without any problem. Of course I did it at about 6 months out. Shorter time my cause some problems.

I wouldn't count on that type of availability.

In the summer of 2001 I was able to book a 2 bedroom at the 7 month window. Arrived Sunday June 17. Stayed 5 nights. Checked out Friday, June 22, 2001.

If you are gonna book Hilton Head at the 7 month window, do it right when your window opens. There are a lot of DVC members at other DVC resorts who wait for the 7 month summer window at Hilton Head.

Remember Thanksgiving Week (November) is the last week of June at the 7 month window.

Mid June is still relatively low season for HH. This would have been a slightly lower season that July to mid August. The high season for 2001 did start 16 June for that year though. Most units are 2 BR so there will be more available. In 1999 or 2000 I tried at 7 months out for Memorial Day and was not able to get anything even for Friday and Sat nights.

We were able to get 1 2BR and 1 Studio for July this year at the 7 month window. It will be our first visit. We can't wait!
