HH and An Affair to Remember

I was curious as to if anyone has attended An Affair to Remember and can tell me about it. Where it is held, and more important - the price. LOL

I have a GV and a studio this coming August. So we are a fairly large party - 9 adults, 2 teenagers - 4 children.

Are you referring to "a Private Affair" - the private dinner with Chef Gordon?

If that is it - the dinner is held at the Beach House in the "Signals" snakc bar area after it has closed. I believe it is $150 for the first 3 people and then $50 each additional (someone may correct me on this). Chef Gordon is great - he prepares a 3 course meal that you get to choose and each course has a wine pairing. The total includes gratuity - so it ends up not being out of line with what you would pay at a nice restaurant on HH. We did this once and it was a really neat, unique meal. THis past January we did the longview cooking club with him - and it is great too - $15 for a champagne tasting and appetizers - and he was generous with the champagne. Chef Gordon has an email - and i don't know what it is - you could try doing a search since it has been given out here - or call the resort for it. I think he starts taking reservations for"Private Affair" 4 months in advance (?).

Chef Gordon's "A Private Affair" truly IS something to remember.

The cost is $150 for 2 or 3 people; $50 per person for larger parties. I'm not sure of the maximum he can accommodate, but I know he's very flexible. For smaller groups, Gordon cooks right out in view, for larger groups, he uses the "backstage" kitchen.

We had a group of 9 last fall, and instead of us all ordering separate entrees, Gordon served the food in a kind of "family style" setting, and there was MORE than enough for us all!


It is held in the beach house. The eating area of Signals is transformed with tablecloths, candles, wine glasses and "real" dinnerware.


It is truly a special event. The adults will definitely enjoy it. (Did I mention that wine is included in the price???) The teens may or may not enjoy the meal, but I'm not sure it would be something for young children (although they are welcome). Since the dinner doesn't go TOO late, you might bribe the teens with pizza, etc. to watch the younger ones so the adults can have a special evening together.

We also did the Longview Cooking Club in February. Chef Gordon is such a fun and fascinating man! You can tell he really enjoys his job (as well as being an excellent cook). I asked him a little about "The Private Affair" and within 30 seconds he had 2 parties who wanted to sign up ASAP. I know he'd done a group of 20 the night before, Disney executives so he said he was a little nervous. Just a warning if anyone's interested-he said he's already booked up for Thanksgiving week!

"A Private Affair" is what I meant. Don't know where my head is at times. LOL

I think buying pizza for the kids is a great idea.
