HGVC and MGV

Sorry if this is a repeat request, but I can't find a thread specifically for these 2 resorts.

I have stayed at MGV and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it there. If I choose to stay at HGVC my next trip, will I be just as pleased? We're going to rent a 2BR unit.

I know Hilton is a reputable name, so I'm not worried, but if you've stayed at both could you tell me how you think they compare?

Our family of four have stayed at both resorts, both stays were within the last three years. We enjoyed both resorts. Our kids are now 13 and 15 and we are going back to ORlando in May, this time we have made reservations at the new hgvc tuscony, it is closer to Disney and looks very nice on their website. That said, we like to stay at different places when we go, but I polled my family for you and they voted as follows:
15 year old girl---- hgvc, reason nicer pools with more boys(I told her there are no gauruntees.)

13 year old boy--- mgv, reason, he loved the basketball courts and there was also room to pitch and workout(baseball)

? year old wife--- loved both, probably thought the two bedroom at hgvc was laid out better, second bedroom had two double beds, unlike mgv, there the second bedroom had 1 king size bed.

41 year old me--- mgv, Nick Faldo golf course and driving range, right out side my door, you can not beat the view of a beautiful golf course.
Both resorts are beautiful, before you go, do call and ask for which buildings have been renovated. They have been renovating buildings at both resorts for the last two years and the newer furniture, paint ect... make for a much nicer stay. Also they are right next to each other so location is the same. Back to the hgvc tuscony, they have two bedrooms for 175.00 night if you call the resort direct.

We have been HGVC owners for the past 5 years and last August bought at the new Tuscany site. Do you know how far on the contruction/building is, and what facilities will be up and running by the time you arrive in May ? We would like to book for August but can't decide on Seaworld or Tuscany as we don't want to stay on a noisy building site ? Can't seem to find any information or progress on Tuscany anywhere on their sites.

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Fastbreak - thank you for polling your family for me You're funny We too would like to try a different place every time we go.

So you can say that both resorts offer the same amenities and same upscale feel to them? I didn't want to leave the MGV because I felt we were in vacation heaven. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Do you mind some more questions??

1) We are going to Discovery Cove. Where exactly is the first one located? The new one is right on Int'l by the MGV?

2) Is there any onsite dining/store/fast food?

3) Activities for the kids?

4) How many pools to choose from?

I'm really having a hard time deciding and this would help me feel better about my choices.

hgvc has a basketball court - if was behind our building.

I love them both.

they are smiliar in different ways -you would enjoy either.

Mother loved and I mean loved the big TV at HGVC - never in the past 20 years that I have been taking her for vacation did I ever get to read my book - she loved that TV so much - I read 3 books - it gets my vote hands down.

if you get a lock out - the second bedroom at HGVC is like MGV - only in a dedicated will you get the 2 beds.

I really love the whirlpool tub at HGVC it is so much better than MGV that it is not in the game. First of all you can get in and out it easily (I really wish Marriott would learn this - instead they on the new ones are just getting rid of the whirlpool). the water comes out like a water fall. It even beats DVC's version - it is just so cute!!!

I like the layout better at HGVC too.

HGVC the Seaworld one - is within walking distance of both SW and Discovery Cove. It is that close.

the new HGVC is not really near the MGV - it is across the street from the Public on ID and closer to the that discount stores.

Love them both!!!

I got a great rate on a efficiency at MGV again this year. but I don't think that there pool will be ready until August???

spiceycat - thank you so much for your review and opinions, this is exactly the little things I like to know. My kids and my DH would be glued to that big tv too, I can assure you. But that makes more time alone to relax for mom now, doesn't it

This is so hard to choose. I really think we should try a new place and the HGVC would be new to us. I'm leaning toward the new Int'l Drive one.
