Hey! You had your trip, this time I'm in charge! Nicki & Todd LIVE!! Completed :(

10 day forecast looks like it's going to warm up a bit with no rain! :cool1: Hang in there! Can't wait to read about your day today!

Should be 77 tomorrow!

I am glad, Todd chose the Wave!

Quiet at t:thumbsup2e Wave ...... sounds familiar, as are your photos! We really enjoyed breakfast there and I am glad you found something you liked too!

Can't wait for more yummy WDW food! :thumbsup2 popcorn::

The Wave was excellent! You are so right about how wonderful it is!

Those pancakes are awesome! They remind me of the ones that had at Boatwright's before they stopped serving breakfast.

Jill in CO

We never had breakfast at Boatwrights but if the pancakes were as amazing as the ones at The Wave then I miss Boatwrights

You are more than welcome, Nicki! Just hoping your birthday trip is extra special!

Having wonderful friends like you made it the bestest birthday!

Oh how sweet! Happy Birthday!!

I didn't realize the wave had a buffet breakfast! It looks very similar to the offerings at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club! Those eggs were even too runny for me and I like runny eggs. I actually add milk to mine when I scramble them at home.

That's great he found those egg rolls!

I never had one of those pretzles either. It doesn't look anything like I had pictured in my mind from the written descriptions.

I never noticed the coconut water. How did it taste? Was it sweet?

The first batch of eggs were so watery but the second batch was much better and firmer. The buffet is secluded behind a wall and the restaurant is so quiet...great food!

I think he was on a mission for egg rolls since the minute he woke up this morning! The coconut water is very mild, not sweet nor heavily flavored but a kick up from plain water...hope they have it in other parks!

Love your reviews. We leave for the world on Monday. I got worried when you said you dropped off your "coats" is it really that cold there right now? I was packing shorts and tee shirts.

Hope you have an amazing time and I am looking forward to reading more about the food you guys are eating.

It was 52 this morning, thats cold to us and tonight it is supposed to be 54. I would pack some pants and sweatshirts if I were you! Have a safe trip to WDW!

That breakfast buffet looks really good! And I love seeing all of your snacks. I never did find that egg roll stand in AK, and I'm a big egg roll fan too ;)

It was a great breakfast...the egg roll stand is between Y&Y and the Safari, close to the bird flight

Breakfast - looks great...can't wait to try it for the first time...time for something new, right??!! I am so glad to see your pictures from the buffet. I was most looking forward to the sweet potato pancakes. Well, what I had pictured were like potato pancakes (think hash brownish), only made with sweet potatoes. So, I was way off!!! LOL I would have been looking all over for them!!!

AK - the egg roll looks great...don't know about at that time...I believe my stomach does in fact have a clock!! LOL Coconut water...never had it, but sounds interesting! My drink of choice in AK is a Lost on Safari from Dawa!! :cloud9:

ESPN - never been...not sure we will? For whatever reason, we never make it over there. When I do though, I will be looking for that pumpkin cupcake! We are eating at Big River Grille, so hoping they still have them then!

The pancakes were so thick but very light, had amazing flavor to them, hope you enjoy them as much as we did! Todd's stomach doesnt choose snacks based on time  Coconut water is soooo good, I stock up on it at home, never had this brand before but it was good..Funny you mention Dawa, I wanted to stop there for a drink! Skip ESPN and go straight for the pumpkin cupcake!

Glad you had a nice breakfast at The Wave. The sweet potato pancakes are yummy! I also love the cheese and bacon grits. I think breakfast here is a hidden gem.

The vegetable egg rolls from the Kiosk at AK are my favorite snack in WDW. They are always so hot and fresh and have large chunky veggies in them rather than the fine filling you find in most.

It sounds like the cooler weather is making for a pleasant day!

Enjoy!

Both of us were very happy that we branched out and tried something new...cannot wait to go back there! The weather is supposed to warm up which is good because I prefer shorts to pants!

Around 4pm we had a phone call in the room...they said they had a delivery for us and there needed to be a person over 21 to sign for it. We waited a few minutes and a knock on the door brought us this wonderful, amazing, super thoughtful gift

Oct21night002.jpg

Cheese and fruit plate and a huge bottle of our favorite drink, Rosa Regale from my Dis friend Jane (Disname is janeapplemeadow)

Jane, we both thank you so much for this thoughtful delicious gift, you are just incredible and I hope to meet you one day!

The top was popped and we had our snack and drink on the balcony, the sun was shining down on us and we were nice and warm and had a great cocktail hour. I am not ashamed to say that we just about killed off the bottle!

The only thing better was if Jane could have been there to share a glass with us!

What a gorgeous day! After we got showered and dressed it was time to see if my pick and choose chart I made for Todd would work..it did but not in the way that I thought it would :lmao:

DH decided a nice breakfast inside was in order so he chose The Wave (thank goodness because I really wanted this!), quick stop at the valet and off we went.

The CR was a total nightmare at 10am, it was packed with people and it was loud with screaming kids and people all over the place. Finally maneuvered our way to the The Wave and it was just about empty and we were seated immediately.

DH had coffee and I had Lavendar Earl Grey Tea, both were very good. It was a no brainer to get the buffet...I didnt ask what was lactose free, I just used my common sense and took a Lactaid as a precaution.

This is Todd's plate of bacon with a few other items, cheese and bacon grits, scrambled eggs, he loves grits and said these were very flavorful and creamy, biscuits and gravy and a sticky cinnamon bun. He loved the bacon, said it melted on his tongue and it was very smokey flavored (he liked it and I dont like that kind of bacon), eggs were a bit runny, biscuits were not too soft but not hard either and the gravy was very good, loved the cinnamon bun..it was warm and gooey which is right up his alley. He had a few plates but I just took picture of plate #1

Oct21001.jpg

Here is a fruit plate, it was meant to be for the both of us but while I wasnt looking he devoured the entire thing! No worries, I made him go back for more!

Oct21003.jpg

My plate was one eggs benny, this was very good but the egg was cooked too hard and I like mine very runny, some delish sausage links..nice and thin and tender, a bite of scrambled eggs which were too runny, potatoes were very good and a croissant which I had a bite of and then Todd ate the rest. I really enjoyed my plate!

Oct21002.jpg

Todd had the sweet potato pancakes with pecan honey butter and he loved it, I think he had 4? I have one bite and it was heaven...nice and sweet but buttery and nutty and just excellent...darn you lactose intolerance!! I could have eaten platters of these! I had alot more fruit and some wheat toast and DH had cottage cheese and blueberry yogurt with some house made granola. There is so much to eat here and we left full but not stuffed, which is a good thing.

We both loved our breakfast and would def come back on another trip...the only thing that was a bit weird was it was so dark in there, since there are no windows it gave you a very closed off feeling, dont mind that at night but in the morning it made me sleepy :lmao:

Since it was so quiet I was able to get close up shots of the buffet, will post those next.

Guess what Mark has had me add to our list for next September? You got it -- The Wave. He was drooling over your pictures.

After breakfast I kinda thought that we would go to DTD and see Footloose and have lunch there...I mean that is what is on my chart right?

ME - You ready to hit DTD?

Todd - Nah, not in the mood to see a movie, lets go to AK

ME - But we dont really like that park

Todd - Thats because it is always so hot and today its cool so it will be nice to do it today..plus they have those pretzels you were telling me about

He is talking about the jalapeno cheese pretzels...I guess he does listen to me :rolleyes1

We drove over and the parking lot wasnt busy at all but man the park was just loaded! I think we got there at 11am and as we were coming up the little hill Todd elbows me and says

Todd - Look at the sea of heads

Me - I'm short, all I see is a lot of legs and butts!

You know I love you, but this is funny as all heck. I almost wet my pants laughing.

The park was just slammed, the wait to get the FP for the Safari was 20 minutes! Just to get the stinking FP!! After we grabbed them we where sorta pushed along with the rest of the people, in the direction of Everest...that is where I lost my husband. As I am telling him I have to use the ladies room I realize he is no where around....I stop, turn, try to spot his tall self and then I see him...in front of some little building, it was an egg roll stand!

Me - Um hon, what are you doing

Todd - (eyes all glazed over) Egg rolls

Me - Yes I see that but we just ate breakfast and you cannot possibly be hungry for one now?

Todd - Shrimp pork egg rolls

That is all he needed to say because at that moment I understood....he can never find these in the other parks, shrimp pork are scarce, usually you get one or the other but not both together. This was his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and there was no way he was going anywhere without these treats.

Me - I am going right over there ok?

Todd - (looks at me and says) Egg rolls, not going anywhere

I can so see Todd saying this. :lmao::lmao:

Me - Got it...be right back

When I meet up with him he has one in each hand and he is not too patiently waiting for me.

Todd - What took you so long, hurry up with the camera already

Yes my friends, he is trained correctly. No bite shall be ingested until a picture has been taken and approved for posting :lmao:

Some comments in red above.

I am telling you...Mark and Todd are twins. He did the same thing in September. He would yell at Andy...you can't eat that until your Mother takes a picture. We've done good with these men.

Forgot to post dessert after ESPN lunch. I was all set to go back to the room and relax for a while but someone else had other ideas.

ME - Hey, where are you going?

Todd - What? You think we are going to walk right on by the BWI Bakery and not get something

No, I guess not :lmao:

ME - Well I am not hungry so you are on your own for this one

Todd - I was thinking of that Smores cupcake

ME - Oh cool, I wanted to try that!

Oct21038.jpg

If I wasnt so excited about the Smores cupcake I would have bribed him to get the pumpkin one again!

Oct21040.jpg

Oct21041.jpg

It was put in a to go container and we sat out in the sun to try it. I just wanted one bite and avoided the whipped cream. This was very very good but I am not a huge lover of chocolate and preferred the pumpkin...Todd, well, he said "Smores kicks pumpkin in the tush!" So I guess he liked that one the best!

The cake was very moist and chocolatey and had a creamy chocolate pudding filling, tons of real whipped cream with a graham cracker dusting. It was super fresh but again, one bite was all I had and my snack loving man devoured the entire thing

Last thing he said to me before heading back to the room?

When are we going to try the Oreo?

:lmao:

The buffet at the Wave looked really yummy!!!

I must :worship: to Todd the snack King!!

That cupcake did look super yummy!!

Tonight was Kouzzina night but I moved our reservation back some since we had that wonderful snack and drink from Jane. Was able to push it back an hour and that was just enough time to get us going again :lmao:

Todd - This is such a long walk to dinner, I cant take it

Me - Very funny, it took us all of 3 minutes from the room to the restaurant

Todd - Why are we eating at Spoodles?

Me - This used to be Spoodles and now it is Kouzzina

Todd - Well it looks like a duck and walks like a duck

Me - Ok so they just changed the name and the menu but trust me, this aint Spoodles!

We were seated as soon as we arrived, it was very busy in the dining area but the lobby was empty. Our waiter was MIA most of the time but that was fine with us because he had the worst case of dragon breath that I have ever smelled...I was ready to just get up and leave! Talk about ruining the mood! The good part was he didnt bring the food, just took our orders and dropped off the check, the rest of the meal was done by other servers and food runners.

Sorry the pics are a little weird, it was hard to get a decent shot because of the lighting in there

Since we had the bottle of Rosa Regale in the room we decided to share the Sangria...OMG I wish I had more of this! Its the best Sangria I have ever had! The server was nice enough to split it into 2 glasses for us.

Oct21night005.jpg

We were brought out fresh soft bread and 2 types of oil and some olives. Todd ate the olives, I dont like them and neither of us liked the oil as they had zero taste but the bread was very good.

Oct21night007.jpg

Oct21night008.jpg

Todd new right away that he was going to have the Greek Salad...way to step out of your box there pal! He loved it but there was no salt or pepper on the table and it took forever to flag someone down for it. I didnt eat any but since he licked the plate clean I will take his word for it that it was good

Oct21night009.jpg

I wasnt overly hungry and most items had cheese in them so I decided to order an appie as my entree. I had the Kouzzina sampler for 2, hummus, olives, oil, fresh pita, domalades, spiced nuts, lamb meatball, pork souvlaki and tzaziki sauce. Since this was placed in front of Todd instead of me he dug right in...Uh hold the phone pal this is mine! He ate all the nuts (thats fine as I am not a huge fan), all the olives (knock yourself out!) proclaimed the pork to be incredible and the meatball to burn the hair off your head spicy.

Oct21night010.jpg

Oct21night011.jpg

Oct21night012.jpg

The pork was delish, the pita with the hummus was incredible, (Todd loved the yogurt sauce) and the meatball was spicy but the part that put me off was the over abundance of cinnamon, it was way too much and left a funky taste in your mouth. The domalades were fantastic. Between the two of us there was nothing left on this platter.

Todd's choice was the pork tenderloin, leave off the feta gremolata, with a zucchini corn pie and corn and bean mixture. This was placed in front of me and since my dish was being held hostage I started in on his! The pork was cooked to a medium with a heavily charred crust that didnt taste burnt but in fact had a great flavor to it and the meat was very tender and melt in your mouth. I didnt eat the side dishes but according to Todd the beans and corn were very tasty but the zucchini corn pie as the best, like a giant piece of cornbread. We both enjoyed this dish

Oct21night013.jpg

We were both intrigued by the loukoumades or Greek Donuts and knew that since we were there we might as well try them....they are little donuts that are covered in honey and cinnamon and served with a raspberry and chocolate sauce to dip in.

Oct21night015.jpg

Neither of us liked these....they were hard and dry and covered in honey that has hardened. I had one bite and that was more than enough. Todd ate one and tried the others to see if they were softer but they were all like little rocks so he gave up. The raspberry sauce was very tart and he said the chocolate sauce was like Hershey's syrup.

Would we go back? I asked him that very question and he said yes, it was good but not great but certainly not a place that he would cross off the list...after all, the Sangria is da bomb!

Ok, that smores cupcake might look even better than the pumpkin. I think I may just have to go on a hunt for the best cupcake in the World in January and try every single kind. :)

I think I might need to add Kouzzina to our ADR's, I just keep seeing these wonderful reviews. It looks fabulous!

I can't keep up with you.

Todd is such a goof! Too long of a walk. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That Sangria does look good (and I'm not a wine drinker). You know me and my pork and that dinner looks yummy. I don't think I would have cared for YOUR appetizer platter (so glad you got to at least try something ;) ) after our experience at Tangeriene Cafe, it is obvious that is not my cup of tea.

Can't wait to see what is on the agenda tomorrow.

I think you would love the Wave, there is so much to choose from! Oh was Todd ticked that I was making him wait...I said Goof, you have two, eat one and then I will take a pic of the one you didnt eat!!

The buffet at the Wave looked really yummy!!!

I must :worship: to Todd the snack King!!

That cupcake did look super yummy!!

It was a great breakfast Mary, if you stay close by make sure you check it out! Todd is totally the snacking dude!

They were both excellent in their own way...now I have to try the Oreo for the tie breaker! I hope you try Kouzzina, I would go back for the Sangria and Sampler!

great update. keep them coming

Thanks! More coming for the next 9 days!

I can't keep up with you.

I am trying to post before I crash and burn! The Sangria tastes more like a kicked up fruit juice than wine, you would love it! I like that sort of food and I was tempted to try the lamb shank but the couple next to us had it and was eating it when we sat down and the wife was complaining about the fat on it.

Pshh I missed a lot from the time I left job #1... since job #2, the grocery store and making my dinner you've updated your whole day!!

Yay for yummy and very thoughtful gifts!! You've sold me on the Wave, and I'm going to make a ressie there tonight after I'm done here!! It looks great for us!!

Have a great night!!

Hi Nicki- been following you for quite awhile but have never posted, I'm a "NS" (nicki stalker) :). My question is about the wave buffet: when you make an ADR do you have to specify the buffet or off the menu or can you decide when you get there? Also do you mind me asking how much the buffet cost?

Thank you, Michele

Glad you got to try some of our favorite things today! The icing really makes the S'mores cupcake, sorry you couldn't try it :( That's where the marshmallow and graham cracker part of the S'mores comes in, otherwise it's just a basic chocolate cupcake.

It was nice to see what you got at Kouzzina! I also had the sangria and I agree, it was really good. The pork looks great too! Sorry about the doughnuts though - when we had them they were super soft and delicious, sounds like you just got a bad batch. Still, they should be more consistent.

Loving the reviews so far! You're helping me decide what new places to try next trip, like The Wave! :)

So glad you liked the Wave!

The cupcakes at the Boardwalk look fantastic, and I'm sure the pumpkin one would've been my favorite too.

Yum! Ur Wave breakfast looks awesome!!!:thumbsup2 The lime eggs ben look soo good! So does pretty much everything else you posted today, lol!!:lmao: I have liked ESPN in the past, but more for total junk food like nachos. U'd think that would be the place for wings. :confused3 Oh well. Cheers to that Rosa!!! :woohoo:A favorite of ours too!!!

Happy belated birthday! I hope you have an amazing trip!!! As always, I'm enjoying every minute of your trip report!

Oooh The Wave breakfast buffet is now going on to my list to try!

I didn't like Kouzzina too much when I first went shortly after it opened. I've been toying with the idea of giving it another try one day, but it seems they only worked out some of the kinks from your review. Guess it will stay at the bottom of the list....I'd rather try somewhere like The Wave first.

I can't believe AK was so crowded....that's weird for this time of year! It did have Morning EMH and TouringPlans had it as the park to avoid...but still....a 20 min wait for the FASTPASS?!?!?!
