Oh, Happy B'day. How soon can you get your learners permit?

Thank you for the birthday wishes for my DS. He thought it was pretty cool that you guys were wishing him a happy birthday and he says "thank you."

Lisa, he got his learner's permit when he was 15. On Wednesday, he goes to get his regular driver's license. He already passed the driving test in driver's education so just has to go in and get his picture taken and get the license. But, he still won't be driving on his own for a month since he got a C on his report card and that was our rule. If he got a C then he lost all driving privileges for 30 days (it starts on the day he gets his license. I get the mean Mom award, but it's working, he's working harder at school now.

And Good Luck to you, DIT as mom to a new driver! You can't get a learner's permit until 16 here in MA, but DH has already started taking DsD-15 out driving in empty parking lots. I rode with them the other day - I think I may have gotten a gray hair or two!

I have yet to ride with DsS17 who has his license.. good friend taught him to drive (she is an instructor) she laughs because I have yet to drive with him and he is a good driver!!! She is concerned DD15 will never drive because I won't let her! I told her today @ the games... that she was getting her permit soon and would start driving with us...and that way when she took drivers ed from her this summer I'd be okay to ride with her! She laughed and said.. "crap, I have to teach another one of your kids to drive!"...

DIT: I'm going to utilize your C rule... hope you don't mind!!! We aren't having that issue right now but if the rule is in place.. they'll know the consequences!!!

Come to think of it.. I did drive w/ DsS17 once..before he got his license.. just backing the van up and pulling it into the driveway correctly... He almost drove into the house up our sidewalk.. that must explain why I won't ride with him any longer!!!

well son of DIT you and I have something in common. we got our license's on the same day. Wednesday is my bday and its also the day I got my license. i could not wait to get it and i was there on MY birthday! it's a pretty cool day!
sorry you can't drive on that day, but school is very important! my bff has the same rule at her house too! she only has one left in school and he's not even trying. so she's not letting him drive either until next progress report. she's been getting them weekly lately, because he's a senior and she wants to be on top of his grades so he can graduate! all she says to me is "oohhh you just wait!!!!"
