Hey! Let's take a picture in front of the castle...all 28 of us!! UPDATES 10/26

Looks like a great birthday. Sorry to hear the lights couldn't dance but there are other years, right?
Can't wait to see pictures from your trip. Sounds like a lot of fun. I hope the girls are feeling better.:goodvibes

Great Report! It caught my eye because my husband and I just booked WL for our next trip, and then all his brothers and their families have decided to join too, and they were wanting to stay at a moderate- so we have all booked at POFQ, and I am really debating for our big family dinner to be at WCC or Ohana. Maybe you can help me decide!!!

Your family is beautiful!!

HI :yay:

Just coming by to ask you a few questions.

1) Osborne Lights: Is it always crowded because everyone in the park is jammed in that one spot? Or, was it all that crowded in DHS? What about crowds overall during your stay? We are trying to decide when to go in Dec. We are thinking of Dec 12-17

2) When are you going to update your TR popcorn:: HEHE!

Looking forward to hearing from you! Hope you had a great day :goodvibes

Welcome back from your weekend trip. Sorry Miren caught a stomach bug. That stinks. I bet you are exhausted. I just went back and looked at some of your earlier pictures I missed. You girls are so adorable! :goodvibes

Thanks! I think (I really, really hope) that we are done with that silly stomach bug now. :crazy2:

That's what I was thinking, too. :upsidedow
The girls are feeling much better - thanks! I ended up getting a mild version of it and am feeling better now, too. :)

Your chain of events is similar to ours. How many will you be in total? We had dinners as a large group at both WCC and 'Ohana. Without giving too much away I would probably say I prefered 'Ohana. I'll be letting you all know why soon. ;)

I think Osborne Lights was so crowded b/c we went as soon as they turned them on. The park itself did not seem that crowded to me but it was also raining and we did a lot of walking around and hanging out. If I would do it again I would like to wait until the lights have been on for awhile and stay there longer, but we had our ADR at 'Ohana so we were pretty much waiting to see the lights and then leave the park. The crowds were not bad on the first couple of days...on Saturday the 20th...:crowded: it was the weekend that started the two holiday weeks. I would love to go Dec 12-17 - then we would be there for both my babies' birthdays! Dec 12th and 17th. :) I would think that is a good week, at least here the kids will all still be in school, the last day of school before the holiday break is the 17th.

To answer your second question: :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I was trying to update tonight but my camera and/or computer were not cooperating so I was having a hard time getting the pictures uploaded from this weekend. They're done now but it's late so I'll get to it in the morning. :thumbsup2

I'll second that. We've been to Osborne Lights several times. If you are there when they are first cut on for the night, it is pretty packed. If you wait a while, things will thin out a little. I've always heard people say the first half of December is a great time to be there. Kids are still in school, so crowds have not picked up yet.

Looking forward to pictures whenever you get to them. :earsgirl:

Thank you so much to the both of you about Osborne Lights! We are excited to see it, but want to avoid the crowds at all cost. I am hoping the fact that the kids are still in school will help a little bit!

How great is it that your kid's bdays are on the 12th and the 17th! Are you thinking of going at that time as well? We could do a little Dis meet! Also, take our time on the update! I was only kidding---just enjoying hearing about your trip

Well, I have to tell you that as much as I love my girls and their bdays, the fact that they are only 5 days apart and in December usually has me feeling like this :scared1:

:rotfl2:

I would love to be there for those days but we haven't really discussed it yet. I'll let you know, though. :)

What a fun trip report!

Hey everybody! Hope you're having a nice weekend!

I'm going to jump into a mini-TR of last weekend and then I'll continue with the December trip. :)

The cast: only 12 of us this time! :rotfl:

Me, Ramon, Miren, Nerea
My DFIL and DMIL (holding Nerea)
My DBIL and his DGF
Ramon's four aunts (DMIL's sisters)

March2010057.jpg

The why: Ramon's aunts live in Spain; two of them had never been here, one had been last year and we took her to WDW, and the other had been two years ago but not trip to WDW (she had been in 1991)

We drove up Friday in the rain the whole time - thankfully uneventful just a pain. We waited for everyone else to get there and went to Poly for dinner at Capt. Cooks. I had the pulled pork sandwich which I usually do and it's good. Ramon had the chicken caesar as did a couple of others and they really liked it. Two had the noodle bowls and the rest had the bacon double burgers. The girls had grilled cheese. (I remember all of this b/c I placed the order ;)). I had hoped to resort hop on the monorail to show everyone around but it got late so we just ate and walked around the Poly.

March2010037.jpg

Sorry, I had already started eating...and the picture is blurry, but I wanted to share with you guys. :teeth:

March2010049.jpg

We had agreed to leave for MK on Saturday at 8:15am. We left at 8:45 (I forgot to mention there is no planning with these people, which is fine, people do things differently...I...am...a planner - you did see my spreadsheets from the Dec trip, right? - so I planned...to not plan :upsidedow)

March2010055.jpg

There was a long line for tickets and an even longer line for the monorail and ferry, so we took the resort monorail and after a few stops we were at the Magic Kingdom! :woohoo:

We decided to try Fantasyland first and got FP's for Peter Pan. We did Philharmagic and Small World. Then we went to Haunted Mansion and came back to use our FP's for Peter Pan.

March2010059.jpg

March2010067.jpg

March2010070.jpg

Everyone was getting hungry so we went to Columbia Harbour House. No pics but mostly everyone got the tuna sandwich, I got the chicken nuggets, I think two people got the fried fish basket and the girls got mac-n-cheese. When I was done eating I went to get FP's for Space Mountain. After lunch we went to Adventureland.

March2010076.jpg

March2010075.jpg

We were going to ride PofC but Nerea had fallen asleep so I was going to stay with her, then Miren decided she didn't want to ride it  she's funny like that sometimes, so she stayed with me and we walked around, did some shopping and eventually went to get FP's for Thunder Mountain.

March2010078.jpg

March2010077.jpg

After PofC we took a break, walked around and at some point we went to the Tiki Room. It was almost time for the parade and everyone was in search of some coffee (or ice cream :rolleyes1). We went to the ex-McDonald's fry-stand across from Pecos Bill and got some coffee and found we were perfectly positioned for the parade. ;)

If you notice in this picture there is a cup that doesn't belong there - that was not ours. I have to say that I was surprised to find several cups and other odd pieces of trash along with a stuffed animal and a blanket lying around - it all looked like it had been there for awhile...hmmm, weird.

Love your update! What a beautiful family you have! They look like they are having a great time - it is so fun to share WDW with first timers. Loved the Toontown pics - I'm sad it will be closed when we go in late November. My grandson will be 3 years old on this trip and I was so hoping to take him to see it (his first vist was when he was 14 mos old and we never made it over to Toontown on that visit).

And just a few more pictures of Toontown

The girls were trying on these hats when the rest of the group came to meet us; their grandmother (and I think one of their aunts) bought the hats for them.

March2010167.jpg

March2010168.jpg

Ok, so I took quite a few pictures here but we all know why. I guess other people had the same idea. We had to stand in a line down the sidewalk to get into Minnie's house.

We left Toontown by train

March2010169.jpg

And headed for Frontierland to use our Thunder Mountain FP's

March2010192.jpg

I think here we may have taken a popcorn break and then walked towards Adventureland again to see the wait time for Jungle Cruise. In the end, my in-laws and the aunts decided that they wanted to go somewhere for dinner and then head back to the condo. So they did, but the four of us stayed and so did my BIL and his GF - MK was closing at midnight, the weather was on the cool side but very pleasant, Nerea had napped so she was happy, and she was with her favorite person (her uncle/godfather) so she was really happy. :cutie: We were starting to get tired but since it was such a short trip we really wanted to take advantage, plus we knew the crowds would start thinning out after Wishes.

Next destination: Tommorowland to use our SM FP's. I was excited b/c I hadn't been on it since the refurb and it's one of my favorites. Didn't disappoint :thumbsup2

March2010196.jpg

March2010198.jpg

March2010197.jpg

We were getting hungry and it was almost time for Wishes. We decided to eat at Cosmic Ray's and sit outside on the terrace hoping we'd be able to see some of the fireworks. We didn't see much, only the ones that come out directly behind the castle and at the end. Miren told me she saw Tinkerbell flying when it started (I was still getting the food inside). What did we eat? Nerea had chicken nuggets and I think Miren may have had the pb&j, my BIL had the ribs (which he said were not great), his GF and Ramon had the 1/2 chicken, and I had the bacon double cheeseburger b/c I wanted to add the onions and mushrooms from the toppings bar, from which we also got cheese for the fries.

After dinner we got some coffee and hot cocoa and went in search of Mr. Tom Morrow

March2010203.jpg

March2010204.jpg

At some point Ramon had gone to get FP's for Buzz Lightyear's SRS and we used them now

March2010205.jpg

When we got off the ride we noticed that Zurg is no longer in his jailcell at the gift-shop at the end of the ride. :confused3 It's just a wall with more shelves of toys for purchase.

At the little cart outside the ride, we got these for Nerea

March2010332.jpg

We did some more shopping in Tomorrowland and Miren got this cute pencil case

March2010334.jpg

March2010333.jpg

Ramon got a shirt which he wore the next day.

Next we let the girls take us for a ride :car:

March2010208.jpg

The park was almost empty now, so we decided to go back to Fantasyland. We thought about riding Dumbo but it was cold and very windy. Nerea had fallen asleep in her stroller again and Miren wanted to ride Pooh so I stayed w/ Nerea while they all rode. Then she wanted to ride Snow White so either Ramon or his brother  stayed and the rest of us rode.

It was almost midnight by then so we started walking towards the castle and down Main Street.

On the way out we stopped at the bakery and I bought a cinnamon to share at breakfast the next day. :)

Tomorrow: Epcot

**notice the time of this post, I am up b/c Nerea was sick again :( - if I'm up, I might as well DIS :upsidedow

Nice Toontown pictures. I didn't know if I had taken my final ones on the last trip, but I heard on a podcast yesterday the rumor was that Toontown would be there through the summer crowds. It said that if you look behind the fence in 'the teardrop' (by the train) you can see construction already going on back there, but the mainframe of Toontown would not be worked on until after the summer. The CM at Winnie the Pooh said behind the tree line of the Pooh playground you could also see a lot of things already being done there, too. It will be interesting to watch the changes from trip to trip. :)

Great trip report (and mini trip report). I LOL at the soap picture...a girl after my own heart...it's the first thing I do too! :lmao:I LOVE my Mickey soaps!

Lynn

Great update!! I can not believe that it was almost midnight when you left. Your kids sound like troopers :thumbsup2 We did not like Cosmic Rays at all when we went last year. That singing Alien inside made us crazy!! :rotfl: Your girls looked so cute in the pictures. Epsecially the gazebo in Toontown. :goodvibes

:welcome: to those just joining in! :goodvibes

We couldn't believe it either! We've never done that before with both of them. I think the nice weather was a factor in facilitating that - I can't imagine doing that in July! :scared1:
