Goldenwest gave me a better price

Hmmm...I've never heard of that shuttle service, not that that should mean anything. Supershuttle and PrimeTime are the bigger, "brand" name shuttles. Liz, Kathy or any other CA person...have you heard of them. Lucy, if the pricing is real close, I'd go with a brand name. You would hate to have a disaster on a day when you're planning to be the first one in line! :teeth:

Liz - I have be going to my mailbox day after day looking for my passporter and none yet!!! I'm bummed I han't gotten mine yet :sad2: Lucky you!

Maybe the CA people get it first or something,....I eagerly await my PP as well!!

now I'm a little worried - I better start making phone calls to the
other companies. Who said I was going to be the first
in line? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I'm sure they're OK...maybe ask over on the main board if anyone has heard of them. Like I said, I know you *think* (he he he) you're going to be first in line, so I don't want anything to delay you..... :rotfl2:

"you don't want anything to delay me" :love2: :love1: :lovestruc

I will ask on the DL board - thanks for all your advice.

Arizona heat is nothing like it is in Florida. It is truly a "dry" heat here. This would be a typical July day - turn on your hair dryer to the hottest heat and let it blow on your skin. Now imagine it without the "wind" of the hair dryer. There ya go!

Florida reminded us of DC. We spent a year in DC and it was THE longest year of our lives. You get out of the shower and dry off, no wait, you can't get dry!! Miserable!
With the wind we get here in Vegas sometimes, I have often said Vegas in the summer is like living in a giant hair dryer. We hit the triple digits this weekend so I'm excited about hanging out in the pool.

I got this link from the July 9th thread...it's info about what they have planned on May 28th at the port, sounds like they're making an event out of it! http://www.sanpedrochamber.com/beacon_0505.pdf[/QUOTE]

Im so excited to see this!! I'm planning a trip to visit my parents that weekend (probably with a DL trip) and I was thinking about going over to San Pedro to see the ship. It sounds like there will be a party going on!! I can't wait!!

Lara - I think it's going to be an event unto itself! We're planning on having dinner at Acapulco's at 4:30 because you can see the ships going out to see right there. I think folks from the July 9th thread are also going to be dining there. I have a feeling a lot of DISers will be at the port! :wizard:

I got my PassPorter Guide yesterday, woohoo! I read some of it, interesting information!!

Reading the Panama Canal thread daily makes me oh so wish we were there-we thought about it at the time but we weren't comfortable pulling our 1st grader out of school for two weeks, maybe if he were older but right now it seems like he's still learning new stuff daily; besides we're education freaks-it comes first (you teachers should love that statement :teeth: ) Anyway, it sounds like there are such low numbers of people on the ship that it would be a blast, especially the low numbers of kids. How exciting for all of them. Maybe someday....(when you wish upon a star....)

Just received an email from Amazon....my Passporter is in transit....whooppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :cool1:

Liser,

I hate to tell you this, but I think it gets worse taking them out of school the older they get. I wouldn't hesitate to take my first grader out of school, but with my older two, it becomes too much of a hassle. My 9th grader would even put up a protest if I suggested he take a few days off for "fun"...make up is too much work.

I wish we were on year round schedual so we could have little bursts of vacation time during the cheaper off-season travel time. Now, that would be fun!

please - buzz over to the Repositioning Cruise Site and see the
pictures of "our" ship going thru the canal, posted by STUARTMI.
I have more goosebumps this morning than I've ever had.
What a beautiful site. MAN, it is almost 9:00 AM - I better get to work.
YOU GUYS have got to see that!
Taking kids out of school - Lisa, I hate to say it but if I would have only
had a first grader - I probably would have taken them out of school -
once they reach the higher grades, you just can't do it - they miss too
much in school. Right now, if I take my 7th grader out for one day - he
gets totally lost.
Today, my son (13 yr. old) has Music in the Parks. They visit our local
amusement park most of the day, Dorney Park, and it is raining and cold.
Don't know what those kids are gonna do all day in the cold rain.

Haven't done the transportation thing yet - Lisa scared me with GoldenWest.
I never ordered the Passporter Guide - wish we had - I wonder when it will hit the bookstores?

Boy, the "Towncrier" did a beutiful job catching the ship at Gator locks

Lucy-The PassPorter guide recommended PrimeTime or SuperShuttle for car service...thought you'd like to know. I really didn't mean to scare ya, but I usually like to stick with the bigger, known companies for something that's important, if ya know what I mean.

Ok, so Lucy, where the heck were you a year ago when we booked our cruise? Now I'm feeling really left off that Panama Canal ship. Just kidding, if we went on that cruise I wouldn't have gotten to know all you crazy people. Hey, maybe if we hit the lottery between now and the eastbound, we'll do that one too! :rotfl:

The Passporter is a great book, but you're OK if you don't have it. They really don't rate the excursions because they haven't been on it. The info is still great, but don't feel too left out. I'll share with you whatever you might like to know.

OK, have to get Ryan off to school.....

:love2: thank you again for your advice - you convinced me to call the
other companies. :moped: :moped: :moped: :moped: :moped:

:cheer2: about the Passporter - I WILL own one, even though it will
tell me nothing new - you just don't realize how obsessed my husband
and I are (and the boys) over these cruises...we read every piece
of information we can get our hands on.....over and over again.
AND, now that we have 'met' all the people on our thread - it is more
exciting than ever. I know, it is down to two more months, but I am
so excited, and then it will be all over.....i'll be so sad, ok, let the time
go slowly. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I can't wait till you go down to the pier on the 28th. I truly hope you can
get near The Magic to shoot some pictures. :boat:

And, Lisa, for goodness sakes, if you would have travelled on the Panama Canal cruise, you would never have the opportunity to spend a week with all of us! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Liz and I will be sure to get some good pics (hopefully) of the Magic on the 28th!

from Jenny or Lynn or the other people who haven't talked to

I had to post today have just watched the Magic going through the canal on her way west such a special time, my passporter also arrived today and yesterday i received the DL DVD courtesy of Lisa, WOW things are getting really exciting.
Lisa I agree I'm really glad you aren't on the repo cruise cos I can't wait to meet you all... and as a teacher of young children I applaud your decision to not take your children out of school. I have PMed you re the DVD but here is a public vote of thanks for your kindness in sending the DVD over here to the UK
I've got one more week at school then a week off before our final term starts.
We actually finish school on 22nd of July and we fly to CA on the 23rd! Must be mad!
i've just booked a universal studios tour on the net and have tickets for the disney cinema in Hollywood to see Herbie. Still looking at dodgers tics still not quite sure if it will be our thing or if we'll understand any of the game!!
