Lovely Article Jess I'm gonna refer the press to you when they call me about school events here I never know what to say.... i know that is hard to believe but there you are.
Can't do these flashy links but I can copy and paste>>>> :rotfl2:
Jessica Lavall, sophomore sweeper for the North, sensed the intensity of the atmosphere surrounding the contest before even stepping on the field. "I was excited. The North-South game is always exciting. You always want to win that because you know the people on their team and it's such a big competition.
"Last year, they knocked us out of the playoffs. So, we really wanted to get them back. We approached it like every other game but we knew it was North-South."
From her center-midfield position, Jessica has a perfect vantage point to appraise all the game's action. She describes her role, saying, "As a center-mid, I'm in the middle of the field. I have to win most of the air balls. When I get the ball, I shoot it out to the forwards and other midfielders."
In addition to playing soccer's version of quarterback, Jessica also gets to experience a good deal of the rough play. The North- South element only intensifies the physicality of the contest.
"The game might have been a little more physical than most, especially in the second half because they wanted to get back those goals and give it everything."
South had every reason to accelerate what was already a very aggressive game. Down by one goal at halftime, they stormed out of the locker ready to even the score. Unfortunately for what had been dubbed the home team for the contest, it was North who seized the moment. Midway through the second half, goals by Nicole Mikula, Kelsey Dumont and Jessica Lawall gave coach Bruce Jacob's charges an insurmountable lead.
Jessica analyzed the North 4-0 victory, saying, "We really got our momentum going in the second half. Once Nicole scored on a PK (penalty kick), we started thinking about goals. Kelsey (Dumont) got one from the corner. Then, she gave me a good assist."
The big assist set Jessica up for the goal that virtually iced the Indians' win. It also gave Jessica a career highlight. "It was obviously a great moment for me because of everything that was on the line."
Jessica's score, in many ways, exemplified the type of smooth teamwork the North squad showed throughout the contest. "I kicked it up to Kelsey and I went through. She gave me a good through ball and there were really no defenders around me so I took a shot."
The big victory left the Indians elated.
"We were really happy after the game. Four-nothing scores don't usually happen against South. We were happy with the way we played and that we finished the drives when we had a chance."
Equally important, the Rock prepped itself for what promises to be a thrill-packed regular season finale.
Presently, four teams are battling for first place in the Suburban One League (SOL) National Division. The Indians currently sit in second place with a 10-2-1 record. A good showing in their remaining games would gain them solid seeding for the district playoffs.
Jessica feels the solid win over South could jump-start the Rock's late season run. "It was a good win because it showed we are more together and ready for the big games we have coming up. It will make us better for the big teams coming up like Abington, Pennsbury and North Penn."
Though not directly stated, the Indians would love to run through all their remaining games and recapture the league title they won last season.
"We didn't really talk about setting goals at the beginning of the season. Last year, we won the league so that is always a goal for us, as well as making it as far as we can in the playoffs."
Based on their showing against South, the Indians looked primed to make a great run at another SOL title. They have the necessary spirit and talent.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Welcome back Debs!!!!

Glad you had a great time! We really enjoyed Seaport Village when we went last summer. SD is amazingly beautiful. It's a secret to most midwesterners. Anyone you talk to says how beautiful it is, but since we live "so far away" rarely anyone goes.

I hope you feel better soon Lucy!

JoAnn ~ The kids will be so excited! Thanks for helping out this year!

Lynn ~ :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Kathy ~ I don't believe you've added us to your ticker! Come on girl!!!

I also picked up on Alex lurking......hmmm I know where we stand! princess:

Rough week. So many games and so little time. I spent last night's game (Mallory's) sitting in the van in the outfield practicing spelling words and government for a test with Marshall. "You have to make hay while the sun is shining I guess!!" :wizard: This weekend is just as bad. This stack of papers on my desk at home is really scary. I hope I don't lose something! :rolleyes1

Jess

awesome :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Belated Congratulations to John and Jess. I finally got a chance to read all the pages I've missed and look at all these great accomplishments. Way to go guys!

Kathy - I have a little story to tell about lying, lovely things that happened this weekend. It doesn't get any better when they get older. I will fill you in when we see you in July, you will love this! By then I may be able to laugh about it.

This week has been depressing at the store, very low sales, although I did a birthday party yesterday. No cardstock in the store, which is my staple, so many people aren't even coming in. Nothing has been done yet, I still have 16 black contractor bags iin my back storage room, so that room is a disaster. Still a hole in the wall and we are just waiting on insurance. Very frustrating!

Briana's party is the 19th, Allie will be coming home on Mother's Day and staying through the 20th, I am looking forward to seeing her and having her spend almost a week home. She can catch up on some much needed sleep! Right Allie???

JoAnn- What time is the Segway thing again, we are trying to book it. For some reason I thought you said 9:30. Oh, and I will be the spastic one in the group, crashing into everything. When Micco and I went on our HM in Bermuda, we rented Mopeds, and the first day I couldn't stay on the thing, I was ready to take it back. By the third day though, I was zipping all over the island, and riding faster than Micco. It takes me a while, I am a little uncoordinated, as you will soon see. Lucy better be there taking pictures, it should be a riot! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Lucy - The people I met on the cruise were fun, but NOTHING like you guys. I always tell people about you guys and that was the best cruise we ever did. I truly believe that we will all be friends for a lifetime, no matter how far in distance we may be from each other, we will always try to make an effort to see each other once in awhile and be a part of each other's lives. And that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!!! :grouphug:

Anyway, time to go clean this mess of a house. Maybe I will try to get a little sun this afternoon too. Briana says I need to get some color for her party or my dress is going to look weird on me!

Have a great day!
Debi

someone is alive out there! JoAnn.....what the heck are you doing this weekend....your adventures on the weekend are always so interesting.

Kathy - you too - any kids stories?

OH DEBS! :grouphug:  :sad1:  :love2

killed me! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Why can't we hear from JT? :confused3

Do 'ya want me to pull the silent treatment again until someone posts!

I'm back!! You know, ever since, I taught you guys how to change the font....SOME OF US ARE OUT OF CONTROL!!
:woohoo:

JT hasn't been posting b/c he can't figure out how to get on (some kind of computer glitch!) I'll send him the link! :rotfl2:

Hey Lynn, you are soooo sweet for copying the article.......ok.........since then, Jess was in two color photos in an area paper for a different game, she yelled at me b/c evidently I'm not supposed to be proud and tell people when she gets in the paper! So, I guess I forgot that being the parent of a teenage girl is pure bliss......................... :confused3 :furious: :rolleyes2

BTW, I was away this weekend!! Ken and I WENT TO SOUTH BEACH, FL!! It was Ken's birthday and we are still trying to figure out where Tara will live next Fall.................WHAT A PROBLEM!!! :wave2: SOUTH BEACH IS WILD!! I saw more things this weekend than I have EVER SEEN in my life!! It was so funny and fun! (But not as fun as writing to you all each day!) I forgot my computer and cell phone (it was really tough!) So sorry, but I hope I had a good enough excuse for being absent............COME BACK, LUCY!!

Sorry, Deb about the store, just enjoy getting ready for Bri's party and Alex's homecoming!!! We are having Tara's grad party on Sunday! :bounce:

I'm jealous, Jenny! I know how soon your school year ends............YOU ARE SO LUCKY! (Ok, here's my little secret about marking papers the last month of school, WHO'S GOING TO KNOW??) :smooth:

And you think that's a a secret???? NOT!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

South Beach sounds great! It's been so long since I have been there. Yes, you do see it ALL!!!

All right all you Philly fans..........this is Reds/Phillies weekend in Cincinnati! Both of these teams are exceeding the predictions. :cheer2:

Someone has to talk to me this weekend. Lucy is heading to Canada, eh. So, humor me! Maybe Bob will take over (like he could talk as much as Lucy???? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Debi ~ Is May 19th Bri's official birthday? That will be Mallory's 7th birthday! I know you guys are going to have a blast. And Alex gets to come too!!! :cloud9: Speaking of..............speak up girl! Quit lurking!!!

I am taking the day off tomorrow to go on the first grade field trip to a farm. Some folks here open up their farm every year to all the first grades in the whole county. They do so much with the kids. Animals, hay rides, etc. I did not go with either of the boys, so I think Mallory and I will have fun. We come home at 12:30 as it is an early dismissal day, however I don't plan to return to the afternoon meetings!! :woohoo: :woohoo: Then, my own field trip to Indy on Wed. to the state museum. It's very cool. Two days out of the classroom!!!

:bounce: :hippie: Ok, Jenny! Let's make plans.............once baseball season ends..........and...........football season has a bye week...............let's plan to GO TO SB TO VISIT TARA :rolleyes1 AND MAKE SURE SHE'S OK :woohoo: , YOU KNOW, CHECK ON HER :yay: , AND SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING, YOU KNOW, :bitelip: . WHO'S IN, PEEPS???? :cool1:  :cheer2: :moped: I won't tell, if you won't!) ::yes::   :hyper: :duck: pixiedust:  :rockband: :dancer: :teleport: party: :jumping1: :rainbow:

JoAnn :welcome:
I didn't know you and Ken were away...hope it was fun. :cool1: :cool1:

SO, teachers, 'ya wanna tell me what kind of grading y'all do at the end of the year - as a parent I'm really interested. :scared1:

YES, you will ALL miss me this weekend and I hope SOMEONE in my family posts - just start a discussion on "anything Disney" and he is there! :cool1: :cheer2: :bounce: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Oh, girls, also remind HIM that it is Mother's Day on the day I return :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: (By the way, I'm giving HIM a present by going away for 4 days! :yay: )

I'm forgiving Debs for not posting - she has a LITTLE BIT "on her plate" right now  .....Kathy, where are you? :confused3 JoAnn, now that I know you were away, you are forgiven also, BUT DON'T DO IT AGAIN :rolleyes1 . Lynn, I haven't heard a "good excuse from you lately" for not posting  . Bill, find another computer, we miss you. :badpc: :badpc:

WOW - Jenny is going to a farm, Lucy is going to Canada..... :cool1:

The farm........Mallory loved it! I was raised in a farming area so it was nothing new to me (I didn't say I liked it! :rotfl2: ). They held/pet every kind of farm animal imaginable, including ducks and chicks only a few hours old! Some of my former students were there with their 4-H animals so she got some special treatment. One had her rabbit which was so tame. She just laid in Mallory's arms and slept!

It's 1:15 and I am now home! :thumbsup2 It's a beautiful day and I am going to just bask in the sunshine and warmth. Yeah right!!! :confused3 Ironing to do, Marshall to the doctor, etc! John was to take his sister for me while we went to the doctor. He disappeared with his grandmother (the "other side" of his family) and went to the mall. Someone stop this escalator!! :lmao:

I hope all is well with Kathy. She's been awful quiet. She didn't have our permission to disappear. Check in with us and let us know you are o.k. Kathy. We will worry about you if not!! :)

I bet Ken enjoyed South Beach JoAnn!!

Debi has to be overwhelmed right now. A lot on her plate. Maybe we'll hear a tad soon..........but where's Alex??? :confused3

No need to send out a search party. I've just been super busy with all the end of the school year stuff. Today we had Amy's class picnic. It was freezing! Last week we had a field trip to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Next week there's a Mother's Day Tea and Field Day. There's still another month of T-Ball and gymnastics. Sunday School wrapped up for the year this past weekend. Amy's ballet recital is on the 21st (while Ted is in LA). My Aunt and Uncle will be here that weekend on their way back up to RI from FL. BORING but BUSY...I was trying to spare you all the mundane details of our everyday life...for once. There's nothing exciting to report here. I'm really looking forward to summer and our July reunion.

Jenny, It has escaped me that Owen and Mallory are the same age. I don't know why I thought she was a year older than him.

JoAnn, Sign me up for a girls' weekend in South Beach.

Lucy, Enjoy your weekend. Tell my Margarita date to check in please.

Deb, I can't wait to see pictures from Briana's party. Micco gave you wrong info...I'll be by myself at the DIS reunion!

look how close we are in our number of posts! And you say I talk alot! :hyper2: :hyper2: :jumping1: :love1:
