We don't have sweet sixteens how do you celebrate this milestone?

Joann am i reading your posts right have you finished school for the year or is it your student that has finished, please tell me you're not out of school yet I have another 14 weeks before we get out. I definitely think emigrating to the US should be in my list of things to do Mind you it probably works out in total. We have to teach for 38weeks ie thats how long the kids are in school for and then we work another 5 days for training etc. So 39 weeks all told what do you guys have to do does it vary by State.

Debi try and enjoy your cruise

Lucy get well soon, ( I would have chosen Wicked, I would have been a really bad mum!)

Jenni we'll go to an Italian restaurant in NYC if you'll come in Oct so you don't feel you're missing out in the Summer!

My student teacher has FINALLY left! I still have over a month of school left....we report for work for 191 days and the students have 180 days. I am usually off from about June 15th to August 25th.

For us the "Sweet Sixteen" was just a house birthday party. That's what she wanted. Some people have big parties (rent a hall, DJ, etc.) We had about 40 teenagers here. It was a very rainy night but the kids did well and seemed to have fun.

:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

JoAnn & Lynn ~ Interestingly, the sweet 16 is very regional. I know in the east and south they have big parties (ranging from the type JoAnn's daughter had to Debi's party for Brianna~ she's having a BIG ONE, RIGHT?) Anyway, here we don't do much more than any other birthday, but the term "Sweet 16" is known around and used.

Speaking of school ~ Students here attend a state mandated 180 days which is why we make up the snow/missed days. Teachers attend 183 days. My school year ranges from mid August to end of May. We always try to be out before "Memorial Day" (national holiday) which is the last Monday in May, but this year we had two missed days tacked on, so the kids get out the Tuesday after (May 30th) and my last day is May 31st! :cheer2:

LucyHow did the evening go? I am with Lynn, I'd be a bad "MUM"! I love the term Mum!!!! :thumbsup2 I have wanted to see Wicked SO BAD!!Hey! Look at my ticker! It is exactly 3 months from today we go to WDW and have the beginning of the DCL reunion!!!!!!!

LynnCan't do NYC in Oct. :sad2: Florida in Oct. is up in the air too. :furious: We've had some things come up, so we have had to do some cut backs. We want to keep our WDW trip just as is and do our baseball weekends, so it had to come from other things. The biggest thing that hurt us was last weekend when the lawn mower totally died. We have an acre of hilly lawn, so the push mower isn't an option. It already takes him almost 2 hours to mow, so imagine pushing it!!! :sad2:

Mark and John (lawn boy!) had to go yesterday and buy a new mower. That was not pretty........... :furious: I had even planned a summer get a way for John and I (mom and son baseball!) and I had to "bag" it too. John was not happy about that, but also wants not to push mow the yard! :rotfl2: Mark wants to do to our lawn what Micco did to theirs.............MADE IT CONCRETE!!! I love their house/lot!!! Beautiful and no lawn maintenance!!! :cool1:

I need to go get something done. I don't get too many full days at hone, so I have to maximize the time. The kids' baseball/softball games start next Sat., so now I'll spend 1-3 nights at the ball park!

My heart would NEVER have allowed me to go to NYC during that concert last night....we beg Tyler to do his best so he can win a spot on that stage floor for the festival....may I say it is one of the MOST BORING concerts we
must sit thru, but it is an honor for a child to be chosen.......BUT, Lucy
DID get very ill during the concert (I just can't shake this darn "bug") and after Tyler's performance, I did leave and go home (the "boys" came home
with some friends).....I can't tell you how many parents had to give up
their tickets to Wicked because their children performed last night, but
that is just how we proud parents are here in Kutztown.

YES, unfortunately, the age 16 is a BIG deal around here. We had Bryan's 16th birthday party the week before he turned 17.....I called it the
"still 16 party"....he was so surprised. We had a hall, lots of kids, lots of
our friends, food, dancing, it was one great party. The theme of the party was (you guessed it) - music! We had everything decorated in black and white, with paper music notes hanging from the ceiling, all the decorations were centered around music. We had just as much
fun as the kids....dancing, partying...... :bounce: :yay:
But to have THAT many kids IN MY HOUSE - that scares me! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Look how frightened I was when I had
5 14-yr. old boys in my house overnight. Yes, teenagers scare me!

Next weekend we see Tarzan on Broadway - now THAT is exciting and I better feel better soon. :woohoo:

Sorry about the lawnmower situation, Jenny! There'e always something! :confused3

Sorry Lucy, you are still recovering..........the kids weren't that bad, my older two came home with BFs so we passed the time quickly and they helped me set-up. :thumbsup2

I'm glad it's over..........BTW, I would have had a bigger affair but my younger didn't want one. Tara had hers in a hall with a DJ, etc. Jessica kept saying she didn't want that (until a few weeks ago when it was too late!) Our next event is Tara's graduation party (from college.) How nuts is that?

I am really looking forward to just chillin' today. :woohoo: I can finally go back to school next week w/o dreading it! What's everyone else doing today??

Quiet day here. Jenny, JoAnn is right...it's always something. Just this week we had to get Ted new prescription sunglasses and there was a leak underneath the kitchen sink. The plumber was in my house for 10 minutes. He replaced the basket and charged me $103 which included $85.00 for 1 hour minimum of labor. I told him that if he was going to charge for for a full hour, he could stay and help me make dinner. I wanted to get my $'s worth. We don't even own a lawn mower. I threatened to buy one for Ted last year. He wasn't amused.

very funny story..... :lmao:

I actually made a dinner tonight....hasn't happened lately......of course I
ate applesauce and rice.....this BRAT diet is really getting to me (betcha
Lynn has NO idea what a BRAT diet is but every one who has ever been a "Mum" knows). Hey Lynn, did you celebrate the Queen's birthday? :bday:
I would truly like to meet those grandsons of hers....good looking boys.

Now, the laundry is done, but who in the world is going to fold it - oh, well,
another week of living out of the laundry basket :lmao: :lmao: ....who needs folded wash! :confused3

Gotta type up Tyler's essay - he is paying me.....since I'm the expert in the family at a keyboard! :cool1:

Mark just comes in from taking John to his dad's house. He comes in laughing. He says "I go in the driveway and there's ex in dorky shorts and a ball hat sticking 2 feet up off his head, and mowing the lawn. What the heck did you see in the dork." I couldn't answer the question...there is no answer!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Now, I go downstairs and my daughter is laughing hysterically. She had done an internet search on her name. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any software that REALLY blocks some websites. She has ambled onto a site and this woman is........well, you know the rest!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thank goodness neither of the boys were around! :teeth:

I needed a couple of laughs today! :thumbsup2

Ironing is NOT done. Maybe later I'll continue..... :sad2:

You guys are hysterical today!!! I finally got out and exercised in the park tonight....it was beautiful!! It reminded me of the Safari at AK, they say there are more animals at dusk.......I saw three fox and five deer! :cool1:

Tomorrow doctor appointments and then I'm going to see Tara win an award. princess:

School's almost out for the college students........let the games begin!! :stir:

Lucy, don't forget, you will probably be successful at WW! Whoopppeee! See, there's always a silver lining in every black cloud. :thumbsup2

Jenny, your story reminded me of a movie I saw today, "Friends with Money." It was pretty good.........there's a line where the husband says, "You were the prettiest one there (when a group of friends went out together.) :cloud9:

Hey Kathy! How's the weather been down in VA? We've had unseasonably warm days lately! Make any other plans for next summer? :goodvibes

Hope, Debs, it having fun!

HB to the Queen, Lynn!! :wave2:

Did EVERYONE fall off the face of the earth today? :confused3

JoAnn: What kind of award is Tara going to win today? :bounce: :yay:

The way I'm feeling about my teenagers today, their award for the day is just being able to live in our house! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: TEENAGERS......WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT THEM BEFORE I HAD THEM :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :headache: :( :worried:
I was an ONLY child - I didn't know anything about siblings....... :confused3 I was the PERFECT child :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

For pete sakes, where is BILL - why can't he speak to us anymore? :confused3

I miss Debs and any news on her shop. :grouphug:

Hey Lucy, Tickets for MNSSHP go on sale next Monday. I made a PS reservation for the Cape May Cafe Clambake on that Sunday if you guys want to join us with all of the kids. Just let me know and I'll adjust our reservation to include you guys. Is it just the 4 of you?

Hi JoAnn, We had a 50/50 weekend...rain on Saturday and nice yesterday. We needed the rain through. And no, unfortunately I have no new summer travel plans. Although we're not going to be able to go to Chincoteague due to Owen's W&M program. I'm going to stay up in Williamsburg with the kids that week.

Ok all Summer DISCruise 2005 reunioners!!

I made ressies today for us for a party of 15..........

Friday, July 28th @ Cape May Cafe, Clambake..........for 5:30pm :thumbsup2

Saturday, July 29th @ Le Cellier, Canada...............for 8:30pm :goodvibes

They wanted the first or last ressie of the night for a party this big. Let me know what you think......... :confused3

ESPN doesn't take ressies..........they suggested we arrive at the beginning or end of the night for that one..............Do you have any other suggestions? :confused3

Lucy, Tara won the "Presidential Scholar's Award" for her grade point average...........it's a miracle, considering that she transferred to Temple due to a questionable GPA at U of Maryland! We were proud and a little shocked!! :cheer2:

Papa Bill has been "babysitting" my nephews this weekend.........hence his absence............ :moped:

Don't forget, we still have to have..............Mexican Margarita Night!!! :wave2:

Congrats
to
Tara

:cheer2:   :cool1: :grouphug: :woohoo: :bounce:

love the ressies JoAnn - ME? stay up for an 8:30 dinner? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

However, first the most important thing!

WAY TO GO TARA!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the "leg work" JoAnn....let's see while you were doing that I was either at Mallory's game, Marshall's Cub Scout park outing or driving between the two!!! :rotfl2: It was a beautiful day though around 70-72 degrees! :sunny: We took our math test out in the sun in the courtyard. It was so awesome! :thumbsup2

The ressies look great! I was trying to calculate. Here's what I came up with: Fisher (5), Williams (4), Bolusi (4) and Lawall (5). I am not sure who is bring what kids, but I was just curious to know who we have. Some of us have NO OPTIONS!!! :rotfl2:

I also have an offer for any teenager who would like to make a couple of bucks! Mark and I would LOVE to eat at LeCellier CHILDLESS (John doesn't count)!!!! John will definitely want to go to eat steak.....which means Tyler will probably too! Anyway, I would like to give a few $$ to someone willing to take the M&Ms SOMEWHERE!! Any teen takers (fools I should say!!)??
If it doesn't work out though we'll be just fine!

ESPN is a little tricky with a large group. They use round tables on the main floor. There are tables up top around the edge of that that could be put together for a large group. The "bar area" (seat yourself) has a lot of 3-4 tops with tall chairs and booths. We will have to just set a time and maybe send someone down early to try to manipulate a large group in. Heck, Mark will be so "in" with the bartenders by then, who knows!!! :lmao: Just kidding! Mark and I will work on this one. Is this is our Sunday dinner? That would be cool because it would be ESPN Sunday Night baseball!!!! But, we will go anywhere, anytime. Since you guys will be there a short time, we will go with the flow!

For like the 50th time JoAnn, but you will be there FRIDAY thru MONDAY?? I have to write this down! Sorry! I have killed too many brain cells!!! :lmao: :lmao: and will kill a few more this weekend! :teeth:

:teeth: I have tried to "filter" Mallory's computer websites a little more today! OMG that was a hoot!!! :rotfl2:

How are you feeling Lucy?????????? :confused3

Thx Lucy & Jenny for the congrats to Tara (now I have to figure out how to send that to her!)..............do you want me to change Le Cellier to 5:30ish? Jenny....at this point none of my girls is coming..........Jess (16) has a camp at ODU (Hi, Kathy! :wave2: )and the other two are looking for summer employment. If they decide to join us, they will probably decide early in the summer.....that's how I got "15 people." :woohoo:

I wouldn't mind the ESPN experience for Sunday night :thumbsup2 .........yes.......... :listen: Fri. 7/28 (7am flight) to Mon. 7/31 (about 11am flight) so we have Friday, Saturday and Sunday! It's okay............about the brain cells... :confused3 ......whatever....you probably had more than you needed anyway!!! :woohoo: :grouphug:

I feel a guilt trip coming on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Kathy was definitely "mulling" over Spring break.................................... :rolleyes1 :wave2: :yay:

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: There goes the bar tab again! I bet Fisher keeps his mouth shut a little more in the future. He has no idea what he is dealing with here!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Again, A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE!!!

C'mon Kathy..........you can do it girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
