Hey! July 30,2005 Cruise to Mexico Reunion Thread

OMG, I would have had such a meltdown if that happened to us. All I can say is that I think the later you go, the more weird stuff can happen like that. If you think about it, the busses probably can't get there at 10 or earlier so we're better off getting there really early so we can get ahead of the DCL transportation. Also, I have been rushed thru PC or told to go the the buffet and missed it altogether. Usually, I really prefer PC for our first lunch. Don't forget the LA harbor isn't that great anyway (and I'm sure most of your other ports were spectacular!)
Love the details.........just had my Back to School Night........It went well and I FEEL LIKE A TON OF BRICKS FELL OFF MY SHOULDERS!!

Meltdown, schmeltdown......I would have been raising some you know what!! I am proud of you Lynn for keeping your cool!;)

Yes, parent night behind you is the greatest feeling!:cool1:

Sorry went to Keith's uncle's funeral yesterday, I think I posted he died while we were away.
Keith's brother was very upset, again I thiunk I posted that his wife was diagnosed with Leukemia 3 weeks before our trip. The first lot of Chemo didn't work but we have had better news today they have found a bone marrow donor so fingers crossed that this course of chemo works then she can have the transfusion and the prognosis is good.

Ok the next day was a day at sea, not sure where we ate breakfast probably the buffet in Parrot cay it's where we went most days, Keith went to the Panama Canal presentation , he loved these lectures and thought the ex chief pilot Ken Plukett was very interesting. I had been up to look in at the gym on the sailaway day as I fully intended to carry on my home routine walking and cycling, I got talked into attending a detox seminar so I went to that, It was a big sales push and I got sucked in a bit and found myself agreeing to have a body analysis test more of this later.
After lunch we sat on deck 4 for a while and then headed up for what was to become our afternoon ritual of an ice cream for Keith and a cove coffeee for lynn, I swam a bit and then went to my appointment in the Spa, BTW whenever we were at the adult pool we were with some of the Bolusi's that was where they tended to hang out most of the time, we would have been there more often but it was very hot for us and we were burning after an hour or 2 with factor 50 so we couldn't do all day at the pool. I think Debi and Micco understood, there were several other couples who also hung at the pool and this crowd became infamous during the cruise. The vast majority of us could see they were having fun and were happy to join them when we were there unfortunately one young and I do stress the young I think she was 21 felt she had to complain this did lead to some bad feeling but Debi can fill you in better than I. I think it was a case of a not very mature young person trying to be more grown up than the grown ups if you get my drift.
The entertainment staff certainly seemed to enjoy larking about with this crowd and they provided many of the funny moments in Rocking Bar D at night time!

Anyway back to the cruise report, I then went for a pedicure while I was there Alex came in and had her hair put up I said I would love to have my hair up but it was impossible given the facxt that I had had it cut into really short layers at the back, the hairdresser overheard me and declared he'd loved a challenge and to come back at 7pm I went and got ready for the formal night except for the dress and returned to be transformed I think he did a great job and I felt really grand that night, we ate in AP, we went to the balloon dropin the atrium and then to the Ron Pearson comedy show he was very good we had fun and then went to bed!!!

The next day was Cabo, we watched the ship pull in from our verandah you could see the arch and lovers beach beautiful. Then we headed up for breakfast and met our excursion group in Sessions we were due to go on the BOB excursion where you ride underwater scooters, we got on board the boat after signing our disney waivers, then we had to fill in a form for our health. Now we had been slightly worried about Keith taking this trip as he has had a perforated ear drum in the past and he also suffers from high blood pressure we had enquired about these conditions and were told it was fine, but no I was silly enough to include my ventolin inhaler when asked if I had any medication, I had childhood asthma and still have attacks about once a year if my allergies get out of hand but it is allergic asthma and never bought on my physical exertion, but a very abrupt crew member asks me in broken english if I had my inhaler with me yes I say thinking that as in the UK they just want to be sure I have the medication available, the next thing I know I'm being taken off of the boat with Keith and told I have to see our cruise director because of my condition. I explain to the Disney rep who translates to the crew member and we're shown back onto the boat . The disney CM says everything is ok. Then just as the boat is leaving another crew member says so you're just snorkelling, no I say it was sorted out and I can take part, Then he says no you said you used your inhaler today so the captain says you can't go down, I try in vain to explain that I didnot say that, I had thought I was being asked if I had my inhaler not if I had taken it, but no one was listeniong so Keith and I made a spur of the minute decision to not go. He didn't want to go down without me and he doesn't snorkel and I didn't want to pay such a high price for a snorkel tour. We were taken off of the boat again. Disney were very good about it they said they could see where the mix up had occurred anf if it was up to them I certainly could have taklen part but they have to work with the local captains. I could see this but I was quite disappointed too. Disney refunded our money and then very quickly told us of other excursions which hadn't left yet which we could join freeof charge. First of all we said no as after all the drama I really felt I just wanted to go back to the ship but in the end we went on a catemaran out to Santa maria Cove it was a very pleasant sail, I did some snorkeling and then they gave us snacks and drinks on the return. I'm glad we went because out on the water it was lovely and breezy but once we returmed to land we realised how hot it was , we had planned to come back ashore and do some shopping but by the time we had tendered back to the ship we were so hot that a swim in the cove pool was all we were interested in.We watched the sailaway at 5pm and then I went and had the body analysis done, it was very uncomfortable I was in a small room with this very sweet young man . He was very intense and I feel had absolutely no idea about unfit older woman. He spoke in an evangelistic way about diet , then about the spa detox and pills which would set me back hundreds of dollars, he laughed at my walking and cycling and drew me up an exercise program which involved push ups and other very physical exercises and when I explained I wouldn't be able to do some of this and I just wanted to do some aerobic exercises he pooh pahed me and just carried on. In the end the only way I could get away was to tell him I would come up to the gym and follow his program. The end result of this was I never went near the gym during the entire trip as I was so scared I'd meet him, all I really wanted was some idea of how to use the machines safely, but he made me feel silly and I certainly wasn't going to roll around the floor of the gym trying to do exercises I obviously am too big too do on my vacation. It was a shame really as I really wanted to use the treadmills with their lovely views over the ocean. maybe Ken or Joann's girls could take me in next time we cruise together.
Anyway after thsi trauma was over I headed to meet Keith at the Ron Pearson Comedy show in the WD theatre it was excellent and we bought his DVD.
After dinner we were quite tired and we went for a walk on deck and then headed to bed

I've reread my posts and it sounds like we were not having a good time, most of the time was great and we had a lot of fun but more things went wrong this time than last time and it did get better.

more things went wrong? well, Lucy wasn't there, Lynn!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Since when does Lynn drink coffee! Explain that one, please:worship:

That was quite an 'interesting' story you told, about Cabo....glad you got to go on another excursion - it sounded beautiful - I LOVED Cabo.:woohoo:

Wish I could see a picture of your hair!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Hey mom, how was that tornado? Ya know, the one they delayed the game for thirty minutes for and I just stood outside.

Mhm...

:confused3 Anyone know what FP is talkiing about?

Hey lynn, thx for all the details, soounds like a lot of strange things happened! Sorry!! Like Lu said, probably since all of us weren't there, the hollow feeling was rough, we understand!

So, let's go, let's hear the rest of that trip!!

We had tornado sirens go off five minutes into our biggest high school football game of the year [big rivalry game, homecoming], even though the closest tornado was something like an hour away. It delayed it for thirty minutes & of course my mom flipped out knowing I was outside. I assured her I was fine, but she's a mom. Gotta love 'em.

whoever you are!:confused3
YES, we do love you guys, even though many times it is doubted by the child and they don't wanna hear it.:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
At this point, and the way I don't like football, what the heck was YOUR school doing allowing you to stand outside, I don't blame the 'mom' here,
let's talk about those idiot coaches and school district. Enough said, John.
I really, really, blame the school on this!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Love you John!

Today? it is 9:21 and I must get moving - Bob and I are heading to Home Depot (of course for the musical)....then lunch. Then it is home quickly to clean up for tyler's "once again" sleepover...the kids are coming at 4:00, game is at 5:00, after the game they are going to movies in town, and then one of us (we know this will be Bob) must pick them up at the movies at 11:00....NO, Tyler will not be walking home with his friends as they are assuming at 11:00.....he isn't happy with me, but 4 teenager boys, walking about 6 blocks home, at 11:00 at night, NOT GONNA HAPPEN, so, John, Tyler hates me right now too. We just had another stabbing in Kutztown the other night (college students)....ain't gonna happen Tyler.:sad2:
I hate these sleepovers!

Glad to hear you survived the tornado, Phil!! Seriously, glad it wasn't serious. Jess's team lost but the coaches forgot to play her the second half, so that's probably why they lost...........:confused3 :rotfl:

Tracy's doctor appointment went well..........she going to go for shots, first and maybe surgery later..........Tara is coming home on Sunday for 3 weeks.......

Lynn, more please?:surfweb:

do we want to talk about coaches?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

Our pleasure hopefully the others will arrive too, our rellys here have started to get them as well and the 3 we sent ourselves have arrived. I think everyone on the PC thread is a little disappointed because there is any franking on the stamps I think we all feel we could have just put the stamps on and brought them home but I guess that's the wonders of modern technology and the barcoding, ok another day
Puerto Vallarta Wednesday 20th August

The meet time for our shore excursion was 11:45am . We were doing the outdoor adventure which was zip lining and bridges and mule rides etc. I had really been looking forward to this, but we both woke up very tired and after the heat yesterday I was concerned that we would overdo it. We had breakfast in Parrot Cay and then went to see the folk at the shore excursion desk to see if there was anything they could do. I was amazed they were happy to refund our excursion and swop for another, So we relaxed on board for the rest of the morniong and then went to the promenade lounge at 12:15pm
We were taken onto the quay where a Rigid Inflatable Boat was waiting for us. This proved to be a really good excursion and I'm glad we swopped as the temperatures were very hot. First we sped away out of the harbour a fast fun ride, Next the boat came very close to the shore near the old town and the guide gave us some background and talked about the landmarks we could see on shore. Then another fast ride through the bay until we came to Los Arcos. Here we slowed down and went right up to these arches and rock formations we saw lots of birds including a blue footed ****ie. Next we went to another bay to snorkel we were the only people there, the water was very murky but there were alot of fish. Then we stopped at the little village of Yelpa, we walked up through the town and the guide told us a little about the flora and fauna of the jugle . we then swam in a waterfall at the top of the hill, we had a little time for shopping at some stalls, before heading to Pizota beach for Lunch, this was BBQ style there were picnic tables for us and hammocks and beach mats. the guides made us coconut drinks from the green coconuts, there were also showers so you could swaim , snorkel and kayak, we had lunch. Then just relaxed on the sand. We had noticed in Yelpa that when we looked back at the town it was covered in a big rain cloud but on our side of the bay it had stayed clear and sunny until we were getting back into the boat to come home. This was a wild ride bumpy on the waves and the rain whipped our skin the guides gave us towels to hold over our faces so it didn't sting, and while we were eating they must have placed our bags indside big plastic bags. There wasn't anything the guides could do so we bounced back to the magic through hail, thunder and lightning it was a little scarey but actually in a weird way a lot of fun. The whole group cheered when we got back to the harbour and evryone was smiling and laughing thank goodness we were with a group of fun people or our spirits might have been dampened!!! We looked like drowned rats as we went on board. People just stared at us, oh I almost forgot the other cruise ship in had people on the balconies and they cheered for us as we pulled into the harbour. It was a very good day. We rushed on board and had showers etc. It was too late to see the show I was abit disappointed as they had a real mariachi band come on board. We had our pictures taken with the three caballeros and then went to dinner, I'm afraid we were very rue then and asked if we could order our food eat our appertisers and then run and see the late show( dinner was at 8pm the show was at 8:30pm) We had never had our main meal much before 9pm so we figured it wasn't too rude. Debi's girls weren't interested in the showbut they said to go ahead, so that's what we did we didn't see the very last song as we felt we neede dto get back we arrived back just as they served the main course. The show was excellent and I was pleased we saw it. The cabaret show was Ron Lucas a very funny ventriloquistand then Keith and I headed to the Promenade lounge for a nightcap we met a couple at the bar from PA and we had drinks with them most evenings after that. Debi and co stayed in RBD and danced but we weren't big fans of the band so didn't stay later than the show most nights.

The next day was an at sea day, we spent the morning, or what was left of it after a late breakfast ,at the pool . then at 1pm Keith went with Micco to the Pananma canal talk and at 2pm Debi and I went to the scrapbook swop. This was fun everyone had prepared a page which they duplicated 20 times then we all gave our page ideas and bits to everyone else so we still all had 20 pages but each one was different, Does that make sense!!! I still need to start on the scrapbook but I do feel I have a head start. At 4:45pm it was the castaway clubhouse, this was held at the goofy pool as it involved most of the ship. Then we went and saw the ventriloquist again in the WDTbefore heading up to deck 10 to watch PoC curse of the black pearl with other DISers, we all had scripts and it was interactive like rocky horror type of thing, it was great fun for 30 mins and then the storm came, rain lashed down the wind blew the loungers across the deck which werte fooded with waterthere was lightning and thunder very atmosheric, some diehads stayed until the end watching from cover but we beat a retreat to the coive cafe and enjoyed a coffee with some other couples .
Hope this is good enough fix for you I have to go and do some housework now!!!
