Don't know why you can't find a good man. I've been sitting right here for a while now. Im a 48 y/o widowed single parent. Im professionally employed and haver a great personality. I am also raising a certified Disney nut. I am required to take her at least once a year.

Hi there Flametamr, and from one widowed single parent to another, yer risin' her right!!! A cerified Disney nut is the best kinda nut to be! All of mine are....and I'm training my new baby grandson to be the same way. (His mom is helping of course....I mean...afterall, she got the love for Disney instilled in her so young and so often, how can she NOT pass that on?) Raising kids on our own is a tough job, always helps to have Mickey and his friends pitch in now and then . What's the saying? "It takes Disney to raise a child...? Oh...no, I think it's "It takes a village to raise a child". Oh well, close enough.

Part of the problem with dismates is that it was heavily female- I wouldn't go as far to say 98% female, but a great majority none the less. Wouldn't this create the same problem?

It might, but you really never know unless you try? I'd never heard of dismates (which sounds close to dismay, dismiss, etc), so maybe it's just a matter of better grassroots marketing - and a better name?

I haven't heard from anyone as of yet so I haven't started coding.. but this certainly has my interest picqued.

Join the club, I'm a widow to with a 24 yr old son, who I was raising as a Disney nut, but he hasn't been in awhile. I go at least once every year, but so far this year I've been there 3 times and my 4th trip will be in December with my darling son and my father who we're celebrating his 80th birthday. He's never been and maybe I can convert him to a Disney nut to.

Good point! There seem to be a couple of threads of people interested in getting something back up and running. I had never thought of it, but name change would likely draw more people. Perhaps, MouseMates? That's free for whoever wants it

There is a site I recently found called DISFriends.com. It's not a dating site per se. The site is a social network for Disney fans 18 and older. Their slogan is "Meet. Mingle. Magic."

That looks like a fun site.. though since it's basically a skin of a social networking conglomerate (networkcreators.ning.com), it really isn't going to be very customizable to the point of providing for more datey-type stuffs or anything unique that might be requested in the future. (I reserve the right to say that "datey" is a word, tyvm).

Pre-made content creation systems are good if you don't mind being at the whim of a bigger company. I personally prefer to build from the ground up when possible, to allow for flexibility, and a bit of unique featuresets.

MouseMates does sound fun tho. If this goes through maybe I could work with DisFriends to let MM members link to their DF profile and save having to put too much information in more than one place?

I agree that DISMates had more female members than male members. But hopefully, if we can get the word out about a new Disney related dating site, there will be more men.

The domain really hasn't ever been "used" very much. If you look at it right now it's just got a parked page. Looking at the internet archive, there might have been something there in 2004/2005, but nothing since.

Looks like someone bought the domain meaning to do something with it but never did.

Either way it's not available to us for this project.

However, there are variances if we like the mousemate "idea". There's mymousemate.com, or mymousemates.com.

mousematesonline.com, mousematesunited.com, weloveussomemousemates.com

There's other top-level domains (.org, .net, .us, etc) but I'd prefer to stick to a .com as the defacto web domain (and no, mousemates.org/.net aren't available either - same people that have .com I would wager).

So unless someone has any other ideas for a name.. if MouseMates is the desired target name for this new playground of dateyness (new day, new word), then I'm leaning towards mymousemate.com at this point.

Really isn't terribly much "involved" from you guys other than to cheer me on, help me beta test, offer feedback and requests as we move forward, and of course, help spread the word once we're happy with how it's turned out.
