Hello everybody!!
I got engaged back in December, and my fiance and I are planning a Disney Wedding for April 2009! We're going to go with the Escape Collection, and I think we're going to get married at Seabreeze Point. Did anyone get married here and if so do you have any pics that I can see?? Also, did anybody have a Catholic wedding? It is my understanding that you can have a Catholic Mass and have it blessed by a Catholic Church, but it can't be an actual "Catholic Wedding". Also, we're only having about 10-12 people at the wedding, so we obviously won't be having a big reception, but what are some ideas for a nice dinner afterwards with our family?? Please give me any advice you have! In the meantime, I'll try to navigate my way through the boards!! :):flower3:

Hi Angela, I'm new too! :) We are planning a small VR next August, and are having a probem finding a dinner/reception site since it will only be a few of us. Have you looked at mouseweddings.com yet? They have some good pictures :)

welcome!! and congrats!! :) Sea Breeze Point (SBP) is very pretty (I may be partial..its where im getting married at :) ) As for afterwards, I would definately check out some of the escape PJs around here. :) Great tips & advice for dinners/receptions there.

 Whoa. I'm doing a double take.

I got engaged in December, our anniversary is in April, we're doing the escape, and we're getting married at SBP! Oh, and my name's Angela! Hehe!

Well, I don't know anything about the Catholic wedding, but good luck planning, and SBP is beautiful! Can't wait to hear more about your planning!

My DS and his DF are also planning a Seebreeze Pointe Escape wedding and as Catholics, we were wondering how that worked. In our diocese, you can't get married by a Catholic priest in a location that is not "Catholic" unless you get permission from the Bishop. Not sure how that works in Florida, but if you find out anything, would LOVE to know!

They're looking at mid-December 2008. I want to host the after-dinner celebration and they think they'd like to go to Cinderella's Royal Table (of course, changing first) and hopefully get to see fireworks from there!

Best wishes!!! :goodvibes

To find out about the religion subject it would probably be best to contact the priest of your church. I am Catholic and am not getting married within the Catholic Chruch (not at Disney either). I was concerned to be banned form the church so I called my priest and asked him what my options were and if we could do a Catholic Blessing Ceremony afterwards. I found out that it was not necessary. The important thing was that neither one of us were ever married before and as long as we are married by some sort of minister (not a JOP) then all I would have to do is let them know (and I assume send in a copy of the liscense) and they would just mark in their books that I am married. And I am still a part of and welcome in the eyes of the Catholic religion. However....like I said you really need to contact your parish to find out if its different. Things aren't so uniform these days.

Congratulations on your engagement and decision to have a disney wedding. I'm pretty sure Disney is not an "acceptable" location for a Catholic wedding. Meaning the church does not recognize it. I recall reading it on here on a few girl's posts but can't remember all the details. Those were the girl's that had trouble even getting some of the family to come because there was such an uproar about it not being in the church. I think Disney's wedding website addresses the concern. I'm sorry I can't be much help but the details are fuzzy. Perhaps you should try to contact Disney Weddings directly and ask about it.
