Hey guys check this out...

But where are you going to put it and store it?

Well I could buy it, Im not sure. Maybe in the back yard? Of I was was Donald Trump have a big room built on to the house for my big Disney collection.

What part of Texas are you in?? We are south of Houston

The pictures of it look a little funny... Do you think it's for real?

Absolutely for real. Disney has sold off ride vehicles before - Dumbo, Tea Cups, Mr. Toad, etc. I think it is a brilliant business decision.

As for where to put it - I know of one collector who, when his new house was built, had special supports put in the living room ceiling to support a Dumbo car. He did actually win one on Ebay a while back but decided not to get it because the shipping charges were several thousand dollars. He's still hoping to get one.

I have not been to the World since 1999. I thought the seats for SM used to be different. Am I crazy? If not, when did they change.

PS......It looks like a model to me too.

flessan: the ride vehicle is from disneyland, not disneyworld...on space mountain in disneyland you ride side by side, not one behind the other like at disneyworld...

i think the photo is of a real ride vehicle...just an unusal way to photo it with the background like that...i think if you look at it you will see that it appears to be sitting on a pallet of some sort...

as mentioned above, disney has often placed old ride vehicles up for auction on ebay...also keep in mind that space mountain in disneyland is currently closed for major rehab...they are replacing the entire ride track and i'm sure that they are also taking several "rockets" out of service for new ones...

The seats for SM in WDW have changed. It used to be a bench seat where 2 riders sat together. They changed the cars to individual seats. I don't know when that happened exactly.

Did you read the part about not using the vehicle - especially about how the safety restraints have been disconnected, so that they might not release once they have been pulled down/closed? Oh my, I see that happening - I mean, really, if you buy this thing, wouldn't you want to at least sit in it? And then someone doesn't think, and pulls the harness down, and it won't release, LOL!

LMAO- Explain that one to the 911 operator.... :sad2:

Phone call:

Operator: "911, what is your emergency?"
You: "I'm stuck in a space mountain car!!!"
Operator: "Listen kid, if this is a joke...."

I'd love to have one of these...put some wheels and a motor on it and coast down the road :)

are you sure about that?

Anyway, I love DisneyAuctions! Many of the things adorning my walls were "rescued" (for a price!) from DLP/DCA/DLR. ::yes::

Yep - I remember it quite clearly. I used to go to Disney with my best friend who was over 6 feet tall in high school. He always got in first and I sat in front of him because the other way around just didn't work.

I asked my wife also. The first time I took her was in 1990 and she remembers the bench seating then. It changed shortly after that. I'll have to go through my old photo albums and see if I can find a picture of the old cars.
