Hey Good Lookin, what ya got cooking?

Come on let's have some fun around here. Tony, Viki, Conch, Mike, Rosie...and everyone else that has participated in our previous Food and Wine conversations, and for new comers alike, Laisser le bon rouleau de temps - or for those not familiar with the term, let the good times roll.

What are you currently eating, making, drinking, shopping for, making reservations at, reading about. Anything food or beverage related is fair game.

OK, I'm boring at the moment.
  • Drinking coffee and a Diet Dr. Pepper.
  • In between meals so I'm not eating anything at the moment. I had a cheeseburger pizza for lunch, and Padalyn and I have settled on dinner yet. I have tomorrows lunch picked out. I am brown bagging, as I will be attending an all day photography workshop. I will be bringing a sandwich of Pesto Ham and Garlic Bologna - not sure how I will be dressing it yet.
  • I am currently reading the latestes issues of Savuer and Bon Appetite magazines. (Thank you Padalyn)
  • I haven't gone cookbook shopping in a while, as I am saving at the moment (read in between jobs).
  • My current favorite beverage is a lovely French Pinot Noir I picked up at Costco. And ofcourse Guinness (it doesn't effect my blood sugars the way beer does - it really is a healthy beverage).
  • I'm dying for some good BBQ (tough living in NJ...anyone in TN. I love Calhouns)
  • Haven't cook much this week. But I have something special for someone special in the works...she reads here so I can't say anything more.
  • If I'm lucky and I can join my other half at Gay Days, we'll be going to California Grill (did anyone else hear that, it sounded like a choir of angels). Seriously love the food there. I could do without the kids and lack of decent dress code, but the food is heavenly.

So come on my freinds pull up a virtual chair and join me in a conversation near and dear to my heart.

Not eating anything at the moment. We'll be dining at Applebee's tonight. (Ugh, not my choice, but we're heading to Tampa tonight to see "Avenue Q" on tour at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and this choice worked best for everyone.). Tomorrow night's dinner is all prepped though. I'm making a ham and swiss quiche with sun dried tomatoes and herbs de provence. (We got the recipe out of last year's F&W festival cookbook and adapted it somewhat. It's delicious!).

As for upcoming culinary adventures. Sadly not a lot. We're trying to lose weight before our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding in September (I've already lost 30 lbs since last September on South Beach, and Scott has lost a bit more, but he had appendicitis, so that was a factor), that means the only plans for the foreseeable future are the menu tasting with the Disney Fairytale Weddings team at the end of this month (including tasting cake flavors and fillings,:woohoo: ) and taking my mom to Artist's Point while she's in town for the planning session/menu tasting. Then it's right back to the diet.

Just been eating frozen left overs because I can't cook right now. Been battling a pretty nasty gout flare up. Yes, I said gout. So I've been rendered immobile OR have to get around with a cane past couple days. So no wine for me either.

I'm boring.

Ouch. Rick, hope the flare up resolves quickly for you. I'll drink extra wine on your behalf.

LOVE Avenue Q...have you seen it before? One word INTERNET....it'll make sense after you see it. How exciting the tastings sounds, you will spill all the details here wont you. Congratulations on the weight lose. I made "sun-dried" tomotoes last week, and packed them in olive oil with Italian herbs and seasonings. Well actually, I dehydrated them. Love that machine. Artist Point, another of my favorites.

Haven't actually seen Avenue Q yet, but have had the cast album for years, so I know the reference.

And yes, I'll fill y'all in on the details of the menu tasting. And eventually of the wedding itself. :woohoo:

Rick! Take care of yourself! I'll help drink the wine on your behalf as well.

Paul made a great eggplant Parm and his yummy veal meat balls We have a salad and to drink a Chianti Classico.

Tomorrow I'm making dinner -
I think a pork roast with roasted sweet potatoes and apple.
Haven't planned the rest out - but I just might make dessert instead of buy it.
After reading the cruise board for a while - I might try to make Pina Colada Foster.

An old boss of mine had this - it's bad news! :sad2:
Well at least you can take some solace in the fact that you have the "disease of kings"

Saw this in Vegas - at the Wynn - I love "the internet song".
The whole thing was so fun.

You're a good person!

Enjoying a good Chardonnay. Planning to have smoked chicken for dinner, along with some broccoli sauteed with olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes and lemon juice -- YUM!! If you've never tried broccoli like this, you're missing out!

Dinner tonight was boring - I picked up a sub on the way home from work. Later tonight I plan to relax with some Cabernet Franc that a friend gave me to taste test (one of the benefits when a friend owns a winery!!:thumbsup2 ). I'm trying to decide whether tomorrow's dinner will be pork tenderloin in a burgandy sauce or orange crusted chicken. I have both in the freezer so I'll probably just close my eyes and pick one ... or be totally surprised when I pick something else!

Rick - no dancing for you for a while! I hope you feel better soon.

Pot Roast is slow cooking in the oven. I just finished a yummy cup of espresso and a chocolate chip cookie.

I have had some tasty adventures the last few days: My daughter made homemade stromboli last weekend...fresh dough, oven roasted tomatoes and garlic, roasted red peppers, salami and lots of yummy cheese.

I've company coming this Sunday and I'll be making Turkey cutlets with capers in a lemon-wine sauce , homemade cheese bread and hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries.

Tomorrow night is anyone's guess....

Padalyn and I opted for an international delight night. Artichoke Francaise (sp?) in the oven now, and soon we'll be making steak and cheese quesadilas (sp?). I am drinkig an Italian white that DOES NOT pair well with jelly beans OR dark chocolate.

I have had the Avenue Q internet song in my head all afternoon.

Boring ... party of one. :cool1:

Dinner was some lo mein. I had promised myself that I would go out this evening but ugh... I'm fading fast. If it was actually fatigue from work, staying home would be fine but I think its just self-sabotage so that I will stay single and miserable. I am my own worst enemy!

When did I turn into exactly what I swore I'd never become!? :lmao:

I'll join you in spirit then. I tend to be a homebody too.
Pass the chips please....

Home alone tonight... dry cereal out of the box... sigh...

Sorry about the gout, Rick. Isn't there a drug -- Allopurinol (sp) that mitigates attack severity somewhat?

How exciting for you, rpmdfw! Anticipatory tasty festive things! Woo-hoo!

Dude, you are too close to being at WDW to be having gout! Quick, rent a scooter from Walker Mobility and I will race you up Main Street!

Last one to the Hub is a rotten egg!

udden udden

The kraut and cheese dog in the cafeteria was excellent thanks for asking! :lmao:

Geesh, we may need to tag a recipe exchange thread over here! You guys are making me hungry. Of course over here it would come with wine pairings!

On a side note, there was entertainment later in the evening.

Long story short, we had to cut a gal off, and she said at least 20 times....in a very drunken stuper.........

You can't cut me off, I have "Multiple Scoliosis"!:rotfl2:

Looked at my manager and said, "Guess her spine is really curvy":confused3

Speaking of Applebee's, ours has gotten a little better now that IHop bought them out, but have you been to a Ruby Tuesdays lately? WOW! Have they taken it a knotch up!:thumbsup2

Oh and did someone say California Grill? :woohoo:

Rick.....hope your feeling better!:grouphug:

I'm in emergency diet mode, as I am going to be in Disney World in just about 2 weeks. I also have to face the doctor's scale on Wednesday.
I bought new cargo shorts yesterday that need about 1 1/2 inches at the waist to fasten properly, and not launch the button.

WHAT I ATE AND DRANK TODAY:

For breakfast I had Kashi GO LEAN cereal with fat free milk.
For lunch I had 2 salmon patties (no bread) and green beans.
For dinner I ate the other 2 salmon patties and had a low calorie yogurt for desert.

My snack for the day was a green pear.
I drank tea without sugar all day, and water too.

Today I bought on sale leftover packages of the "chick" shaped Easter Candy PEEPS that were marked down to 10 cents a package of 10 (one cent a PEEP !).
I have stared at them all night on my coffee table. I am taking the PEEPS to DisneyWorld, if they survive until then.

Tomorrow I am living it up, and adding a banana  to my Kashi GO LEAN Cereal.

I will probably gain all the weight back at the Disney Buffets, especially the Crystal Palace.

Hungry Phil.

OMIGOSH Phil! When peeps start looking good, you know you are dieting WAY TOO HARD! :rotfl2: All we ever do with'em is put'em in the microwave and watch'em blow up!
