How long does it take you?? :moped:

We always drive, and I'm wondering if maybe there is a shorter/faster way down!

We're in Augusta, and it usually takes us 6.5 to 7.5 hours...depending on traffic, amount of stops,etc..

Care to share the way you go, and how long it takes you??? :teeth:

It takes us between 7-8 hours to get down to Disney, so your time seems pretty right on track.

For me takes about 6 or 6.5 (with some speeding if I don't watch it :teeth: .) So you are about right in your timing. I go I-75 South.

Takes us 8 hours with stops. We take 400 to 75 South. I can't wait we will be headed that way in just a few days!!

I am in Chattanooga, right on the Tennessee/Georgia line and it takes me 8 to 9 hours to get there.

I am just south of Atlanta. I travel backroads until I get to Perry then it's 75 South. Takes 7 hours with not many stops.

be prepared. I-75 South around Valdosta absolutely sucks. We have made 4 trips in the past 13 months, each time 75 goes down to one lane around Valdosta, even when there is no one working. We sat in non moving traffic the first of April (on a Sunday) for ~45 minutes, till we made it to an exit that our GPS showed we could get around the mess and come out....... in Valdosta. That little side trip added about another 6o minutes to the trip. IT was so bad this last time that DH made me postpone our June US/IOA trip because the thought of that drive made him nauseous. We were at each others throats after that drive down. It took ~7.5 hours, an extra hour because of the traffic. Good luck!

Don't tell me that! My DH is going will not be a happy camper if we have to go through construction! We are about 2 hours north of Atlanta & I was thinking the whole trip will take 9 hours. Does that sound right?

Wow..see, I would have thought coming from Augusta it would take us less time than coming from the Atlanta area!

It seems you guys beat us by at least an hour!

We go down 301 south, then cut over to I-95 South, then to I-4. Winds up being around 450 miles..give or take.

We come from Charlotte NC and it took us 8 hours back in Oct. We took I-77 to I-26 to I-95.

From Savannah it's about 4.5 to 5 hours. We take I-95 S the whole way to I-4.

It takes me 6.5 to 7.5 hours to get from west Atlanta to Orlando. As a veteran of driving I-75 the length of the state there are a couple of tricks to help deal with construction.

1) Call Georgia Navigator Traffic at 888-424-4929 24/7. This is run by the state DOT. They can tell you of any slowdowns, accidents or construction along Georgia highways. I never hit the interstates without calling first.

2) Highway 41 is your friend. Long before I-75 was built people were travelling to Florida via Highway 41. I-75 runs parallel to 41 from the south side of Atlanta all the way to Florida. If GA Navigator says there is a problem on 75, find out where the problem is and how far back the traffic is. Use your map to see the exit before this and use 41 until you are past the traffic. Any Georgia map will do for this.

I have avoided countless hours of stress in traffic using this method. :thumbsup2

I always use 41 to go from Newnan to Perry. It is much shorter than the drive all the way through Griffin to the interstate. If there is a traffic issue past Perry, then I'll continue 41 to avoid it.

We are just north of Atlanta and hop right onto 75 South. We also take the 475 bypass which we timed and found it takes 20 minutes off of our trip time. In total, it usually takes us 7 hours with one potty break/gas fill up, and one stop for a fast food pick up. Of course we avoid Atlanta during peak rush hour and prefer to sail through early in the morning or after rush hour.

We live in Cartersville, about 40 miles north of Atlanta. We usually leave at 3 in the morning and it takes around 6 1/2 hours. We take I 75 to the turnpike. We usually set the cruise on 85, there isn't much traffic on the road then. We usually make it to the state line before the kids wake up. It is so much easier driving at night. The best we have done it is 6 hours and 15 minutes. Only stopped once to top off the tank before hitting Florida.

Wow Tiggerguy! Thanks for that info! We'll definitely check before doing 75!
We're spoiled. We usually fly.

We plan to leave at 4am and hope to be there between 1 & 2.

I'm not from Georgia, but we have to travel it from end to end each trip. You guys have a lovely state, but my family hates to be in Georgia because it seems to take forever to get all the way through. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Georgia STILL!" from each of my kids during our trips.

BTW it's a total 12 to 13 hours drive for us. The bulk of which is... Georgia.

Thanks for the information about highway 41. That may come in handy on our upcoming trip. We have always taken 75 all the way.

We live in Woodstock, takes us about 7 to 7 1/2 hours.
I-575 to I-75. We take I-475 around Macon toa save time. We always stop at Priester's Pecans near Perry. That is a great place to stop for a breakk!
