:thumbsup2 Yes keep going East..........

We're headed down a week from tomorrow, we were worried for a bit.

Hope all of you going this week have good luck and remember to pack a deck of cards and small games!

(We always do this after losing power at our resort a few years back!)

It rather bothers me that people think hurricanes may be no big deal....trust me...they can be HUGE!! My kids love WDW but there is no way they would let me drag them there this week with a system in the gulf. Could be a great time with small crowds but could be a nightmare if the thing happens to develop.

Imagine taking your kids to WDW and a Katrina-like event occurring....my children are terrified of weather after spending 6-8 hours in a hallway and 13.5 days without electricity, telephone, mail, fresh food, etc.

While I hope you vacations are wonderful and you encounter nothing but Disney magic, the weather is a real force and hurricanes are not a joke. My family's life has been forever changed as a result of 8/29/05.

There are a few things to remember in that comparison. Disney is in the middle of the state so there is no storm surge. This is not even a hurricane yet only a tropical storm. I'm not sure what nightmare you might expect out of a category 1 storm but right now even that looks very very remote for Orlando. Besides, there are actually people who pay to get close to storms. Its just a bonus. Adventure travel with the Mouse!

The news is saying they are evacing parts of florida, and the storm is staying on track for Florida. They also say people are running around trying to get meds filled and buy supplies. Stay safe and watch the weather they say this has the ability to strengthen again. :bride: :groom:

Everyone I will be there with you. We land in Orlando at 4pm on Thursday afternoon. I am anxious for my trip.

It is looking better and better for Orlando....keep that good attitude going, stay positive for everyones sake is the best thing now....

All those going soon...see ya there....

Getting excited now!!! I was able to change my flight from wednesday morning at 6am to tomorrow at 6am!!! An extra day, I can't wait!! All this positive energy has really helped me not go crazy about this storm and the potential for affecting my vacation------if we all keep thinking positive maybe it will miss Florida all together-hey it's wishful thinking!!!

Off to finishing packing! Have a safe trip for all those traveling in the next few days!

I just got off the phone with Delta and tried flying in a day early to avoid the mess expected on Wed 8/30, and they were not informed to be able to do this w/o charging a fee. Which airline are you flying with? Almost there... :cheer2:

See what positive thinking does, it does not change weather but it makes everyone feel better....so glad I started this thread.

I hope you ahve a good flight in tomorrow we will be arriving on wed morning....see ya there...

I am flying Jet Blue....guess I got lucky because the website says nothing about flying into Orlando. The lady I spoke with was nice enough to change the flight for me without penalty. Good Luck!!

 Here's what local 11 o'clock news shows to expect for county by county for Ernesto:

Orange County
Inland Hurricane Watch
3" - 6" of rain
35 - 45 mph winds
Gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour

Osceola County
Inland Hurricane Watch
4" - 8" of rain
40 - 45mph Winds
Gusts to 55 mph

* Of course, this could change by 12! You can see why the FL Res are all so hyper before a storm- for about the last week, we've been saturated with weather coverage and all kinds of tracking scenarios. Today the gas stations and groceries are full as everyone scrambles to get ready for ???? who knows? The indecision of the forecast track will drive you crazy!

70% chance of rain for Wednesday and Thursday so we've changed our ADR's for JoJo/Einsteins to Tuesday and will catch the Wiggles on Tuesday instead of Wednesday as originally planned. Our Wednesday will be pretty muched washed out and Thursday ADR's for O'hana's are iffy depending on what the weather's like.

Currently we're at AKL and everyone seems to be in good spirits. Everyone at the hotel's been in this situation and they have insured us that we will be ok. The local resort coverage is great and has been keeping us informed of the park hours and special events going on. As the storm gets closer they will update us via the resort channel.

I know how you feel, I'm going this weekend and hopefully it'll be clear by then. They are saying it should be out of Florida by Friday. Plus it is moving fast and is a Tropical Storm so it should not be too bad.
