Hey Disney, Get some good musical acts

I don't think the lineup is that bad. The 80's were my highschool years and I like alot of those groups.

oh...and on the salty sweet topic.....pretzed dipped in vanilla ice cream...yummm

I used to dip my McDonalds fries and chicken nuggets in my vanilla or chocolate milkshake!

Are the chocolate covered bugles available in stores or is it, take chocolate. Melt. Pour. Devour?

Oh, I saw the Fried Guinness. Seriously not so sure on that one. I'm beginning to wonder about food conversations down there:

"Hey, what do you want for dinner?"

"I don't know, let me see what's in the cupboard..."

"I don't care, just fry it up..."

Sure they are from the '80's, but if you love classic rock....as I...
they still have it!:woohoo:

I love 80s music and would much rather hear those groups play than pretty much anything current. When I heard the list, I had another, "I wish I lived in Orlando" moment...because then I could go hear all of them.

I did that, too. The fries, anyway.

I no longer buy Bugles because I'll just eat them all up and I don't need the pounds. But they're good. :)

Threads never stay on topic. That's a fact of life on the Dis Unplugged board.

Also, as you seem to not like the acts booked, who would you book to play at an 800 seat amphitheater in the middle of a theme park, where you show (actually, all of your shows) are included in the cost of admission?

In the past, we've seen some good and some not so good shows.

We had a chance to see Little Richard. While he wasnt the Little Richard of the late 50's, I still felt like it was an honor getting a chance to see him perform live.

We also saw Petula Clark. She sounded a bit rough.

This isnt supposed to be snarky in any way....but who should Disney book?

Wow, I just glanced through this thread and had no clue.....WAY off topic :lmao:

But my opinion on the music acts........they would get way too big a crowd if they booked current acts, the venue isn't big enough. Most acts they book probably get just enough interest to fill the theater but no so much to cause a problem.

Air Supply? Really? Most of their fans don't have an Air Supply any more.
^ :lmao:

Oh, and Bugles, people ? :scared:

Look at the ingredients. They're still being cooked in coconut palm oil - the worst, artery-clogging fat there is ! It's death in a box, I tells ya...

Crunchy, salty, delicious death, yes, but still.... :rotfl:

Heck, they had deep fried butter at the CNE this year. I don't know what was sadder, seeing the long line at the booth, or seeing lady with a plate full of them, plus a diet Coke.

That just made me smile. :thumbsup2

This is somewhat the idea I had in mind:

Air Supply? Really? Most of their fans don't have an Air Supply any more. The only thing worse was Yanni on the Christmas special. Howard Jones, great in the 80s, now in his 80s.

Where's the "Disney difference" when it comes to booking musical acts? Seems like everyone they book is from the "I remember when" tour. I still listen to 80s music, but seeing bands that use to sell out stadiums and are now playing barmitzvahs for $50 a pop is pretty sad. Who's next, Milli (or is it Vanilli that's still alive)?

The better question is "Whom do you want?" Are your expectations even realistic? I mean I could yell for them to book Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones, but to expect them to do that is just unrealistic...

So who do you WANT them to book is a better place to start...

Um, wow. That's all I can say.

And, oh, EW to caramel and chocolate covered Bugles. Those are supposed to be salty, not sweet. :P

WHAA????? One of the GREATEST taste combos of all time is sweet and salty.... Hence why salted Kettle Korn is so awesome... or better yet Chicago Mix Popcorn (a mix of cheese corn and caramel corn for the unenlightened)... or why Chocolate works so well with peanut butter...

I was at Epcot just for the evening on Easter Sunday 2008 (March 23), and I really wanted to see Petula Clark. Her songs were the same, even if her voice wasn't, but I still enjoyed her show.

I think Boyz II Men is about as recent as the groups get, but they don't do anything for me.

I always thought They Might be Giants would be good. Cult following, both regular and kids hits, known for the Malcolm in the Middle theme song and from a Tiny Toons episode and shouldn't be too costly.

You sound like my 13 year old who thinks that any song that is over 6 months old is...... well old.

To me if I liked the music back in the day then I'll probably still like it today. I don't have a problem with musicians aging, what can they do about that?

I just saw Billy Idol last weekend and I was rocking out dude. Slamming tequila with a rebel yell, how can you not enjoy that no matter how old you are.

We saw Aerosmith a few weeks ago... I agree with you 100%.

Heck I have tickets to ROger Waters playing the Wall in two weeks. I can't wait and lets be honest, that's Waters trading on his fame... and its every bit as awesome. When I see bands like that, I'm not going for their new stuff usually... I'm going for what I love.

To quote the guy who went on to play Booger in Revenge of the Nerds... from the movie Risky Business "Sometimes you just have to say What the :mickeybar"

I heard it was pretty tasty though... Never tried it, but lots of articles this year.

I think Texas State Fair is usually credited with the launching grounds of many of these.... Mmm... No wonder everythings bigger in texas ;-)

^ O........M........G !!!

That would be *fabulous* !!

I'd even eat dinner at Coral Reef if it meant seeing *that* ! :worship:

Maybe this time...
I'll have crabcakes
Maybe this time
They'll stay down....

:thumbsup2

Hang on guys.........I was thrilled to see Howard Jones is playing! Loved him in the 80's --love him now! He does have new stuff- he never stopped making new stuff! He probably will play the popular stuff from the 80's though-it's that type of venue. I am making a special trip this fall just to see HoJo! So Disney picked a good one to draw me down and spend my money!:lmao:
