We just got back from POFQ, and instead of ordering from garden grocer and spending more money than I wanted to, I went to DTD and bought a 6 pack of Blue Moon from the Hess Express. Paid $8-something, which compared to almost that much for ONE beer at disney wasn't so bad!

It was easy, especially with the boat from POFQ, but the Hess is close to the bus stops for all the resorts. I would definitely recommend this if you are staying on property but don't want to pay on-property beer prices!

Another tip- I had packed a small bottle of Malibu to mix with diet coke. But I found that by ordering the virgin Pina Colava, and adding my own rum, I could save another few bucks!

I was actually really impressed with the Hess stations on property. With some of the stations around Orlando jacking up prices, since some on vacation just don't know any better and will pay the price, it was nice to see the gas and other items there at a normal convience store price :)

Those are great prices, the drinks at resorts are :scared1: This last trip we made a trip of to SOG to stock up for our pool drinks.

We have been doing the Hess route ever since Magical Express stopped us from renting a car and the resort gift shops jacked up their six pack prices.

I also bring some Malibu and mix it with diet coke with my mug refill.

Hess also has decent prices on water bottles, not as cheap as a grocery store but way cheaper than buying them in the park. Their snacks and Pepsi products can also be a life saver.

I'll have to make a note of the pina colava! I love tropical drinks but they add up. How much was the virgin one?

I think the virgin drink was about $4. It was called a "smoothie" but had the same exact ingredients as the colava, minus the liquor. It was easy to mix in my own rum. Yum!

I have to agree DH and I have done the same thing.

My friends use a car service and it makes one stop for 30mins at no extra charge. I 'm not sure where they stop I know that there is a Publix, Walgreens, and a Adult beverage store of some sort in the plaza. They each have a list, and get out and make a dash for the stores, They normal stay 7 to 9 nights, so munchies are a must.

Also they get a taxi or take bus for a day of shopping they love the outlet mall right across from downtown disney, They found a publix store at the end of the mall now it is a walk across the parking lot, but her DH and BIL makes a run to refill whatever they need.

I did not think the Hess station carried Pepsi products. If they do that would be great. I want regular Pepsi. Can anyone confirm this. Since they are owned by Disney, they did not. I hope I am wrong.

They do sell Pepsi. Since we drive to the parks we always go to the Hess leaving MK or the Hess across from DHS

There is a Super Target on the way from the airport as well. We took a car service (***********..totally recommend!) and had the 30 min. stop. Funny story though..we moved the DAY BEFORE we left for Disney that trip. Let's just say, I wouldn't recommend it! My husband had to stay in the car with the kids and I was running around like a chicken with her head cut off for a crazy assortment of stuff such as snacks, beer..belts and khaki shorts!:scared1: I was never so glad to hit WDW after that experience!

None of the three Hess stations located onsite are allowed to sell any Pepsi products because of WDW's exclusive contract with Coca Cola. Those stations are located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area at the AAA Car Care Center & Alamo Rent a Car, across the street from the Boardwalk and across the street from Pleasure Island.

Hmmm, I could have sworn my son got a Mountain Dew at the Hess station but maybe I am wrong.

If we don't rent a car on our next trip, I am going to have DH do the same thing. I was so mad at him for spending 20 bucks on two packs of ciggarettes at the POFQ gift shop! (yeah I know I spent thousands on vacation, and I am complaining about spending 20 bucks).

I am going to follow suit and pack a small bottle of rum in my suitcase pool side drinks! That is a great idea! (yeah I know, I am cheap, but at least I am not bringing back my mug from 2010!)

Another item that you cannot purchase at Hess is gum. I am someone who chews gum several times a day. I make sure I pack enough for the whole vacation.

P.S I always dispose of it properly.

So the hess station is on the property of downtown disney? We are staying at POR and we could just take the boat there and back, right? Last time the beer was so expensive that my hubby caught a cab off property which was also pricey....

Where exactly are the Hess stations you can get to without a car?

I go to Hess every trip to buy cigarettes. :) There is a Hess station across the road from DTD. It's not a bad walk if you need to get there. Just take the middle bus stop, not the ones on either end (Marketplace or West side) and it's across the road at a light.

The other Hess that's easy to get to is right across the road from BWI. You can take a bus from any park to BWI, then walk down the road from the bus stop next to the conference center and it's right there.

You used to be able to buy Pepsi products at the Hess gas stations near WDW, but not now. Which is too bad for a Mountain Dew lover. :)

My hubby would have a coronary if he paid that much for his cigarettes. He brings a carton from home to make sure he always has enough. We do the "beer run" to the Hess Station across from DTD as well- saves money on the beer:)

Does anyone have a map of where the outlet store is? I've seen people walking around with sacks at DTD but always thought it was further away. Would love to go there on our next trip if it is easily within walking distance of Downtown Disney because we don't rent a car either.

I grab a couple at the airport & throw them in my carry on bag to get me by :)
