He's Going to Camp AND We're Still Going to Disney:) Update Dec 14 post #665

Declan and I were away for a Dad and Son trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Actually, I was meeting with a potential player and I thought it would be an opportunity for Declan and I to do some stuff together. We had a lot of fun and I have a few pictures I may add in here later on.

Pooksma or I should get around to putting up another installment of our trip soon, maybe even tomorrow.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

I'm glad you guys got to spend some time together. Maybe he'll grow up to be a teacher/coach, too. He'll know the ropes of recruiting before he ever starts.

Or he might rather be a hockey player. Is he still playing?

Please do add your pictures of your Declan/Dad trip. We would enjoy seeing them. I bet he's getting taller by the minute.

Ma, I hope you enjoyed your alone time. It's nice to just have the house to yourself every once in a while, but the noise and messes that come when our guys return are also welcome, too. It means they're back home safe and sound where they belong!

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. We look forward to sharing ours with Mickey and his friends. I can't wait to see what kind of spread Chef Mickey's puts out for Thanksgiving dinner!

Happy Thanksgiving to You !!! As we say here "enjoy your turkey coma". :thumbsup2

I will continue to wait patiently for an update, as I always enjoy your pics.

We will be having a "ham coma" . Declan is not a turkey eater so the rest of us have to suffer from a lack of turkey. :rotfl2:

He has decided that it will be basketball this fall.

I don't know if he picked up much on the recruiting side. He was more like. "Do we have to watch another match? I'm bored."

While you were in Halifax did you get to the Disney Store? I took a trip to Halifax on Friday, JUST to do the Disney Store! I needed a fix since I'm cancelling my Dec. trip. I still think it's so sad that the Moncton store closed, the only one in Canada that closed. :sad2: But the CM said that he heard that they are re-talking about getting the Disney Visa into Canada. They are looking for a bank to do it for us.

We did drop in for a few minutes and we were disappointed. They didn't seem to have very much product in the store and it was as disneyesque as the store in Moncton had been. The majority of the product they had was for infants and toddlers.

That's exactly how I felt! I still managed to spend $150 though! :lmao: I am now almost done of all my Christmas shopping! I usually only buy for my parents and my nieces and nephews, so it wasn't as hard to find something for the little kids there.

Hey. Alright, I finally had some time to catch up! I've been SO busy lately.

Great updates! :thumbsup2

It's been a while since your last, though... Just saying. :goodvibes

LOL, yes it has. Been a little crazy here lately, more to come shortly.

As promised, a minie report about the Dad and Son trip to Halifax.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I was off on a recruiting trip at a huge high school volleyball trip in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I thought this was a good time for Declan and I to get some time together and give pooksma some alone time.

As soon as my last student left, I was off to pick up Declan at the sitter's and we hit the road for our 5 hour drive. We made a stop in Moncton to have some food. (Declan wanted Dairy Queen so I obliged.) Afer about 30 minutes we were on the road again and the chorus of "Are we in Halifax yet began?" He wasn't too bad, he only asked about 10 times. We arrived in at the Comfort Inn around 9 and were quickly checked in. The room had a bit of a locker room smell so we changed to another and settled in to watch WWE Smackdown.

Saturday we were off to the gym early to get a schedule and then to do Declan's shopping. He wanted Pokemon cards. After that we headed to the Discovery Center just up from the harbour. For all you Lego fans, they have an exhibit on Egypt made out of Lego.

Some pictures for your enjoyment:

After looking around the exhibit we headed upstairs for the science displays.

After finishing up in the gift shop, we ventured to the Harbour Front and looked around the WW2 Corvette.

We then made out way back to the gym so I could watch some players and make my pitch for next season. Declan waited patiently and watched. :rotfl2: .

For supper, we went to Declans fav - Jungle Jim's and then back to the motel for the night.

Sunday morning we started back home. We tried to stop at the Aviation museum but it was closed but we did stop at Mastadon Ridge. This is the halfway point between the equator and the North Pole and there have been some mastadon bones discovered in the area. (Mostly it is a tourist stop.) This is also the point where my camera batteries died.

The rest of the trip was uneventful and we were home by mid-afternoon. All and all, a fun trip.

We will be back to the Disney report shortly. Stay tuned!

Just checked in to see an update with a million pictures - none of which I can see at school. I'll look forward to seeing them this afternoon when I get home.

I'm glad you guys got some 'man time' and Ma got some alone time. Hope all is well with all of you!

Now why are you Dis'ing at school? Just because I post an update while my sudents are working doesn't mean you should be on here. :rotfl2:

Glad to read that Drew is feeling better.

Cool Lego pictures! Declan sure is cute! Glad you were able to have some father/son bonding time! :)

THe lego stuff was really neat. It is amzing what some people can do with Lego.

Declan loves the camera. It is very hard to get candid shots of him because as soon as he sees the camera, he goes in to pose mode.

In fairness to MeMom, my students are all adults (well, they say they are.)

Looks like you guys had a great time. The Lego stuff is so cool. I especially love the mummy one with Declan in it. :thumbsup2

The Dising at school is few and far between these days. I peek in when I can during a break (:rotfl: because we rarely get a break anymore!) or at lunch. I spent all of my planning time in a meeting today, I have a RECAP person coming to observe in a few minutes, and I spent the first twenty minutes of my lunch running off graphs for Math class.

Can I tell you how much I love weekends?

And holidays?

And summers?!?!

Getting on the Dis a minute or two here and there keeps me sane.

Well, as much as I can possibly qualify myself as sane. :)

I am always glad to see that my Dis buddies have posted new stuff, even pictures I can't see, when I check in!

The life of a public school teacher. I think I will stick to college.

MeMom is lucky. Our schools have the Disboards blocked! I think it's blocked because it is a discussion board.
