He's Going to Camp AND We're Still Going to Disney:) Update Dec 14 post #665

Your dining plans look pretty yummy!
I'm not sure if I would go to Whispering Canyon though. What about Artist Point? We've been to Whispering Canyon a few times.. once ordering a la carte, another time getting the skillet. I know everyone has there own opinions on this.. but we didn't think the food was spectacular. We are going back, but it's for the atmosphere, not the food. If the reason you're going is for atmosphere, great... but if it's for a "nice meal"... I would skip it.

I believe the main reason for Whispering Canyon is to visit Wilderness Lodge. We also didn't have the extra table credit to play with if we wanted to fit everything in.

Hi,
Followed you over from MeMom's report. ADR's sound great. Looking forward to hearing more.
:thumbsup2

Everything sounds yummy.

I haven't been to LeCellier yet or Boma, but I think we will get one or the other in on the Thanksgiving trip. I've heard so much about both, but I can't seem to get anyone interested in Boma, and the young guys (J,J,T,K) want to do a date night for LeCellier and leave me out to keep Brooklynn.

I'll take her over a bowl of cheese soup any day, but I do want to try LeCellier someday. I've heard very few bad reviews of it, and who wouldn't want a good steak and a basketful of delicious breadsticks?!?!

We already have 'Ohana scheduled for July 5th for a 10:10 brunch, and we're looking very forward to that. We bought Brooklynn a cute tropical dress to wear to that meal a long time ago. Jill and I have talked and talked about how cute Lilo and Stitch are going to be in their tropical wear, too.

I am glad you're going to see Wilderness Lodge. Is this just your first visit to WCC, or your first visit to WL completely? Being a person who likes lodge decor (I have a lodge den and kitchen), I really love to visit there. You'll love the beautiful fireplace, which is actually set up to represent the rock layers as they are out in the Grand Canyon, I do believe. The Mickey totem pole is cute, and the stream that runs from inside the lodge to the outside is also cool. Hopefully, you can get a picture of the geyser shooting up, if you get lucky and time it right. Or if you just stand there a while! :)

One other place I've heard so much good about is Cape May Buffet, and I've got that on my list of places to go someday, as well. If we did a table service every night of our trips, we could have gotten all these in, but we only do one every two or three days, and other than that we just eat CS.

Isn't it so much fun even to be making your ADR plans? That's just a sign that it is all getting closer!

All this food talk has me hungry for a steak, and it's not even 5 a.m. I've got a crew of boys downstairs who are gathering up fishing poles to go on an early morning excursion. One is still asleep on the couch, though, and they're having trouble convincing him to get up. I think he may get left behind!

Have a good Saturday!

5 a.m. :scared1: . Do you have a seven year old boy living with you? ;)

It wil be our first visit to Wilderness Lodge. I have no big desire to stay there (dw does), but I would like to look around and take some pictures.

Ok well with the ADR advice rolling in, we are looking at Whispering Canyon again:confused3 . The idea was, because this night is MK EMH, we'd sup at WC then boatride it over to MK. Now we're looking at Tony's or Kona Cafe. The debate will continue:rolleyes: ANd to help it along, please visit the poll on the Dining Plan thread and vote.

I've been reading over on MeMom's thread and followed over here too. We'll be there while you guys are there too. We're arriving on the 6th of August and staying until the 16th at Pop Century. I'm enjoying reading your pre-trip. Maybe as we get closer to trip time, we'll try doing one too. DH and I have been talking about Whispering Canyon too. Usually we just do counter service because we're trying not to spend too much, but who knows? Anyway, can't wait for the trip and to hearing more about your planning!!

:welcome: You will love POP. We have had a great time there.

Non trip related but a proud papa moment.

We have had Declan in skating lessons since January. The family that teaches the lessons have told us that they feel Declan has a natural aptitude for hockey and encouraged us to enrol him in the hockey/skating program. Declan has decided that he would like to try hockey next fall so we said, "Let's give it a try and see what happens."

Today was the first session that he attended and he loved it and seem to improve in the hour he was on the ice. He is a little behind most of the group but he didn't let it slow him down. I guess it is that competitive streak he has (he must have got that from his mother.)

Now if I could only get him to cheer for the Montreal Canadians again and forget about the Penguins. :)

Some pictures from today.

We now return you to the regularly scheduled pre-trip report.

:welcome: You will love POP. We have had a great time there.

We stayed at Pop in 2006 and loved it. I can't wait to go back. I just scrapbooked some of my photos from that trip. Sure brought back the memories. Man, August can not come fast enough! :lmao:

I stayed at POFQ and absolutely LOVED it, I can' wait to go back!! Our dates intertwine! I'll be there 4th-13th :D

We'll even be at Boma on the same day! AND whispering canyon! lol

My family is also going in August--a very romantic 20th anniversary with an 11 and 8 year old sharing the room:lmao: . We are doing the same split you did last summer 5-10 Pop and 10-15 Poly. Did you like doing the split? Your husband seemed not to so I am a bit worried but hopefully with 5 nights each it will not be too much of a hassle plus my pin code was for August 10 onward and I am too cheap to stay at a deluxe without one...

We are displaced Canadians down here in Texas and love your pictures of snow and hockey!!!! We only have one rink in all of San Antonio!!!

We will have our LGMHs on something we are carrying so hopefully we will run into you on the trip!!

New here and along for the journey.

A trip without kids sounds like SO much fun. My DH ad I really want to take one in Nov!

ADR's look great so far!

Welcome and thanks for joining us. It truly is a small world.......afterall. :lmao: (sorry, couldn't resist.)

We will have to look each other up and compare trips.

Any tips about POFQ?

I'm about to head over and check out your pre-trip report.

We did our romantic tenth with our then 4 year old. We did all kinds of romantic activities; Peter Pan, BTMRR, Splash, Test Track; you know all the couple rides. :)

Actually I loved the split. I wasn't for one this time because we are staying for just a week. I don't want to be moving around during a short stay, especially when we are staying at a new resort. We had a 40% code last summer as well and that helped with the Deluxe but we had already booked AKL when we received it. We were forced to move from AKL because of the construction. The Poly was a great move.

It looks like a mini DisMeet is shaping up on this thread. So far we have 3 groups travelling at the same time.

Have you been reading Nicole's new pre-trip? You guys are going to hopefully meet up during August, right? I told her you need to ride Soarin' for me!

With all the action on the pre-trip board right now, I think there are going to be a whole bunch of Disers there when you are. A mini meet would be good, so everyone could just meet at once. I think it would be too hard to try to keep meeting different people at different spots without it interfering with your overall plans.

I hope Declan enjoys his hockey pursuits. He looks cute in his face mask. He would want to hear that he looks menacing, though, not cute!

I say go for it. It tooked me a long time to warm up to the idea but now I'm ready to go. We'll bring him a pressed penny or something.;)

Thanks for reading along.

I just found the link and had a quick look at the report while marking assignments this afternoon. It would be cool to have some type of meet. Last year, we only met one other Dis family and that was by chance.

Maybe you could squeeze in an August trip.

I wish! School will just be starting, so unless someone is dying, I'm out of commission. I did take off the last two days of the first week of school when Brooklynn was born, but that was definitely an exception.

I will be in (boring) meetings about new rules and standards, and I'll be hearing about my new group of little angels that will be arriving.

I will be taking notes with my Disney pens and thinking of my dear Disney friends who are down there having your much deserved fun.
