I'll just say that the LAST time I rented from Hertz, (for 2 weeks) it was more than a monthly car payment (and I drive an import.....lol) therefore, I use Avis now...they're much more reasonable and if you rent from Alamo, they have a drop off at WDW....good luck!
We had good luck w/ Hertz last summer - and it was 2 days after the first hurricane hit. I was worried as I'd heard there was a bit of a car shortage in Orlando at the time. But Hertz was running at full capacity and had plenty of cars, which was more than many other companies had. Very efficient, and the shuttle over was quick, even w/ most of the traffic lights out (power was still out all around them). If you can get a decent rate I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
We used them a couple of times. First time we booked them through a travel agent who told us they were in the airport - wrong, but no problem once we found the shuttle. Second time I booked them myself with a % off coupon from an association I belonged too, United States Power Squadrons. They demanded (yes, demanded) my USPS member card and them consulted with a supervisor who took it in a back office to "make a copy of it". Have not used them since and stick to the on airport agencies now.
We've gotten them several times via Priceline and have had good experiences each time. Usually the line is minimal...we did have to wait once on a holiday, but they were well staffed and the line moved quickly. The shuttle is always waiting right outside at the curb, and the drivers are very helpful and friendly with brochures and maps.

I use them just about every time. I get a good corporate rate or a good AAA rate.
I have always had excellent service. (I am a gold member so I just pick up the car and go.)
I work for a major insurance company. We just got a notice that Hertz was dropped for corporate rentals, we had the choice of Avis or Hertz this year. I usually used Avis. Next year it will be Avis or National, which will be great with my Emerald Club card.
I used Hertz once, great rate, great service. #1 Gold is great. But this past trip, I used National, as I usually do, could not come within double the cost, using AAA and coupons/specials. Service was great the time I did use though.
Another GOLD card member here Hertz is super. Never a problem and they always have cars, not like some others. If the price is good, Hertyz is a great choice
I love Hertz. They are the "official" rental company at my work and their Gold Card is great. They run a first class organization. But I can't afford to use them on vacation unless it is through Priceline. They are very expensive.
Really enjoyed Hertz. Shuttle was no big bother. I don't like the Alamo National Companies. They treat you like cattle in Orlando and push the insurance too much. I would go with Hertz but only if the price is right. We used Priceline which is the way to go.
Just used Hertz in Nov. Got a Mustang and loved it. We are #1 Gold members, so no lines. The shuttle was quick and efficient. Drop of took 5 seconds, walked 10 feet to the shuttle and took off for the airport. The only hint I have is to fill up at the Hess stations on Disney property, not at the gas station right by Hertz. (about twenty five cents/gallon more...)
Any way, the AAA discount was great when we went - I checked codes and coupons etc. for months before our trip at all of the companies and Hertz was cheapest for us.
