Has anyone rented a car from the Hertz location in Cape Canaveral after cruising? From the directions on the Hertz web site, they are about 5 miles from the port and supposedly have shuttle service or will reimburse up to $20 for taxi fare.

Shirley--- any feedback on them?

Thanks........

Ed

I have cruised twice and used them both times. They were excellent about getting me back and forth to the ship. The van was waiting when I got off the ship so I didn't have to wait long at all. They are only a couple blocks further than Shirley's shop o nthe opposite side of the street so I stopped in to see her before I dropped the car off (I was too early for the ship anyway).

I did not find them inconvenient at all.

Hertz is about three blocks beyond the Radisson, but on the other side of the street. Yes, they have shuttles. All the other information you have is correct as well. Previous responses about their service has been that it's just fine.

Consider however... they do not have an on-site location at the airport. Their location is on SR-436, a mile or two north of the airport. I actually prefer this since I like to be dropped off at my car rather than walking some of the long distances I've walked in the past to get to on-site rental cars at MCO.

I have not considered Hertz because I can find codes for Avis and Budget at mousesavers.com. Does anyone know of any Hertz codes? The site has discounts for BJs and Costco (none around here) and AARP (nope), entertainment book (don't have one this year) also mentions AAA but I would have to call the office. If I can't book it myself I don't want it, I'm getting spoiled that way.;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Since I have a Hertz #1 Gold card, we use them all the time when we go to Orlando. I don't mind their off site location at all. It's great to get off the bus and walk a few feet to the car.

If you are a AAA member you qualify for a discount and can book it directly through Hertz, no need to call AAA. I think it is around 10%, but I have seen it higher during off peak times of the year. I think all you need is your AAA chapter number.

We are flying out the day after our cruise, so we will be renting a car for the day to go to Downtown Disney, etc. It looks like I may rent the car at their Cape Canaveral location and save the cost of the limo or bus back to MCO. Since we're flying in the evening before, I may rent a car and drive it to Cape Canaveral and save money going both directions.

We have done the exact same thing on a few cruises out of Port Canaveral. The off site location is about a 5 minute bus ride.

The location in Cape Canaveral is also very convenient & the shuttle goes back & forth to the port most of the morning & early afternoon. They are very friendly folks down there, always full of neat info. about going ons at the port!!

ERROR! ERROR! ERROR!

I just reread my earlier post. I said that Hertz was three blocks beyond the Radisson. I meant to say that it was three blocks beyond Avis, but on the other side of the street. It's about 1.6 miles beyond the Radisson and on the same side of the street.

That's OK Dave.... considering all the very useful info you always provide here on the DIS, we'll let this one slide. ;)

Thanks for the correction.
