Just got back on Thursday, used Hertz. The first car was a smokers car(I thought all rental cars were non-smoking), couldn't tolerate the smell, got another, car was clean, but a lot of dings and scratches on it. We made note on the rental agreement, but found a lot more in the am. The parking garages are so dim, it is hard to see them all. Midsize was a Toyota Camrey. The first one was a Corolla. They tried to tell us that I had cancelled our reservation, it took a little time to explain that a Pricline reservation cannot be cancelled. He did eventually find it.

The garage is not owned by Hertz, it is the same garage as all of the other on site rental agencies use, so unfortunately that is a flaw with the MCO airport.

As for the the cars, yes all should be non-smoking, however, that doesn't mean an inconsiderate renter before you didn't smoke in the car. It is possible Hertz fined the renter (but probably not), but there is virtually no way to get the smell out of the car.

Also, unfortunately Priceline and Hotwire renters are often "the lowest" priority in being assigned cars and often are given the least desirable ones.

We always rent at Hertz and never had any problem. Of course coming from overseas we pay rack rate and have to pay months upfront but obviously that method pays in the long run. We always get brand new cars. Last year we got a mail telling us we were upgraded to "Gold Members".
No more waiting in line and a decent discount without asking.:thumbsup2
For us Hertz is the only company we will rent a car.

I haven't rented from Hertz at MCO, and I won't.

I used them a few times up here in PA at our local airport office for road trips from home that I didn't want to put the mileage on my own car for. I've never had a 'great' car. Just usually passable. They've all been less than spotless. And the last(and final) time I rented from them, they gave me a car that the alignment was so badly off that I couldn't manage to drive the 15 minute trip home from the agency without hanging on tight to the steering wheel with white knuckles to keep it under control. I immediately took it back and told them there was no way I was driving all the way to Boston with a car like that. The begrudgingly replaced the car, but charged me $22 for the used gas. I was stunned, considering my own car, at that time with slightly lower gas prices, could be filled to the top with only $25. I had the first car a total of half an hour and put 8 miles on it.

Needless to say, I was completely disgusted and I won't be renting from them again. It could very well be just the local office, but it left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I won't do it again.
