Any folks out there have Hertz car rental experiences using the shuttle.

No experiences with Alamo. We love to use Dollar. We have rented from them 3 years in a row with no problems. They are located in the airport. I have young kids so it is very easy for us.

What shuttle? Alamo is on site. Use their on line service and by-pass the counter in the AP. :sunny:

The last time we used Hertz outa MCO we hit it just right. The bus had enough room for us as we exited the AP and we left W/ in 5 minutes of us boarding.

They dropped us off at our car, not the "hut" we did all our reservations online before the trip.

We're renting on AP this time, only cause the price was better. I've got to save 30 ta 40 bux or more to go off site.

But I don't see the shuttles to be much if any inconvenience at MCO, in fact you might have a ride to the off site lot, but may end up actually walking less to get to your car :).

I have used Hertz almost exclusively at MCO for several years.

I have never waited long at all on the shuttle. 99% of the time it is sitting there waiting on me.

I have been very pleased with Hertz...

I'm going to zip your thread over to the Transportation Board, Ted:)

You know, we've never use an off-site rental...we'd be okay with using the shuttle on arrival...but DH is always concerned with the return...we never seem to have enough time at MCO, despite arriving 4+ hours ahead of time for our flight.

Dropping off the car at airport is so easy...park it, scan it, grab the luggage and hit the security lines!! :teeth:

I find that Hertz is always much more expensive than the rest. Unless you're booking with points I'd investigate other options.

Like CarolA I also use Hertz almost every time (4-6 per year) that we go to WDW. Often there are 2 or 3 Hertz busses outside of baggage claim just waiting; and they leave many times with just "us" on the whole bus! :cool1: IMHO, their rates are very competitive, we go from terminal to driver's seat in under 10 minutes (same for return trip) and never encounter a "hard sell" or a problem. Once, I complained that the car I was assigned was kind of dirty and they told me to just pick any car I liked from a nearby row! Much faster than waiting in line for 30 minutes "on-site" and then getting the hard sales pitch for insurance, gas, etc. from some 'Lamo. :rotfl:
No complaints here . . . Hertz is #1. :thumbsup2

Hertz is great at MCO. If you want to bypass the counter sign up for their #1 Express club. The first time you have to stop and sign some papers.

If you belong to AAA they offer great discounts at Hertz.

We found Hertz faster than using an onsite rental. Also do curbside check in with the luggage when leaving Orlando then return the car. No need to take the luggage on the bus.

We just used Hertz at MCO for the 1st time in years and were very pleased. We have Hertz Gold service, so we are always dropped off near the car. We were able to check our luggage at our WDW resort for our AA flight, so we didn't even have to bother with curbside check-in before heading to the car return location. We would use them again if the rate was favorable.

We used Hertz @ MCO for the 1st time last month w/ a Priceline rental. The shuttle took about 2-3 mins to arrive, we got on and then waited another 4-5 mins before we finally just asked if we could leave. There was another bus behind ours so I'm unsure why we waited.

We aren't Gold members so we were unable to be dropped off at the car, went inside and there were about 8 groups in line in front of us, this was about 10:30 am on a Fri. Waited about 15 mins before I got to the counter and it only took a couple of mins to get the keys, but before hand I asked if the car was non-smoking and they said it was. Walked all the way out to it to find that it reeked of smoke. Walked all the way back to the counter, and tried to wait off to the side, but a different agent was telling me to get back in line.

I explained the situation and then waited about 5 mins for an agent to get free and arrange for a different vehicle. We ended up in a 2007 Toyota that had about 200 miles on it and was designated as a non-smoking car. No problems with it, returned it easily and waited on the shuttle about 3-4 mins before leaving for the airport.

I didn't love my experience with Hertz, didn't hate it. For future trips I'm going to book with an on-airport rental agency, just my .02!

Hertz is as quick and fast as the on site agency's. If the price was right I would you them in a heartbeat.

My last National rental was enough to convince me that the shuttle is a small price to pay for SERVICE... (And this was an EA rental so the line wasn't the issue... It was the employee attitude!)

See, that's interesting, as we had a rude agent @ Hertz. When I returned to the counter to state that the car we were given was not acceptable because of the smoke smell (you could smell it oustide the car/windows rolled up and the smell inside was intolerable), I mentioned that my family had some allergy/asthma issues. The agent said "don't we all?" and then gave us the other car. Not exactly the impression you want to leave on a customer. Maybe it was because it was a Priceline rental at an awesome price, but I still don't anticipate that type of response from a rep.

I wanted to like Hertz, (lol just like I wanted to love the GF, but that's another story!) but I just didn't think it was worth the extra time. If we didn't have to wait for the shuttle, didn't have the longer wait in line and then have to get another car I would have been happy. I have just honestly had much better experiences with both Alamo & National.

Glad to hear that most of you have had good experiences with Hertz, even though mine was not stellar by any means. I also think reporting back on negatives & positives is a good thing and is something the DIS boards does so well, gives an accurate picture of one person's experience.

My ONE and ONLY experience with Alamo was several years ago. It was one of the worst travel expereinces yet and I travel a LOT. They have NEVER gotten another cent. Unfortunately my last National rental involved a car with an issue. The "Alamo" agent at the Dolphin was CLUELESS and USELESS, the 800 number was CLUELESS and USELESS. WHen I returned faulty car the National agent was rude. It appears to me that Alamo's LOUSY customer service is spreading..... I will probably give National another try, but.....

(And I agree, I was VERY VERY VERY disappointed with the GF... Never again!)

OMG!!!!! I'm currently in the process of trying to convince DH to stay at GF for our trip next summer but will now rethink that!!!! I simply cannot believe they let the room go like that!!!!!!!!
BTW, I can't tell, what is wrong w/the mirror?

Completely covered in dust, the whole thing is supposed to be super shiny but it was filthy. The mirror portion was full of fingerprints when we first came into the room. ugh!
