How crowded can Hershey Park get on July 4th? Is it just like Disney? Anyone got an idea on what I should do first?

It can get VERY VERY crowded!!!!
It's not like Disney Disney has more room for people to spread out in.

We expected it to be crowded on the 4th of July, but didn't find it to be busy at all. I think many of the locals go to the shore at that time.

We are going today and tom! yeah!

Never been July 4 but...been many other times.

Are you staying at a Hershey Resort, if so you can get in an hour earlier than most people just like EMH at Disney. It is so worth it, we had the place to ourselves last time although only two sections are open. Comet hollow and Founders Circle but at least we got the beg of the park done and over with.

If not go in and go right to the back or right to Stormrunner if you like the rollercoasters, this line can get outrageoues later, You can get Stormrunner and Sidewinder done before the crowds make it back that far. Then go back to the beg later in the day and even leave and go do Chocolate World and come back in.

Have fun, if you have any other questions, let me know. I can proably answer better after I have had my refresher course for the season!

DH always has his company picnic the 1st Sunday in July at HP...depending on what day the 4th falls on depends on the crowds. If the 4th is on Monday the park is very crowded, the years that the 4th has been later in the week the park is not at all crowded. I think this year with the 100th Anniversary and the new water rides it is anybody's guess. We think that this year the crowds are going to be big, especially in the new section of the park.

We're staying at the hilton garden inn and do not plan on doing the big looping rollercoasters. The biggest we plan on is maybe one of the wooden. Since the boardwalk will be open, should I probably head over there first? I thought what if I go to Xtreme cup challenge, then Roller Soaker, then boardwalk? After that, I have no idea what to do.

Xtreme Cup Challenge had long lines when we went last Sept.

There are several wooden coasters. The Comet in Comet Hollow, and the Wildcat and Thunder and Lighting in Midway America.

Print out a map and see what rides your family enjoys and go from there.

Cant comment on water rides as DH wont go near them and I dont know about all the new stuff either.

Have fun.

Check out my site, I know shameless plug, but I really love Hershey and that's why DH and I made these sites! Anyway they are:
www.hersheyinfo.com
www.hersheyboards.com

The info site has some pics of the new BW area so you can get an idea of the size and what it is like. It looks so cool. There are also pics of some rides and a map of the park and other info. On the boards we have a group of great peopl willing to answer questions and help those planning their trip. There are some DIS'ers there too!

We have never gone over the July 4th weekend, but I am assuming since it falls on a Wed. I don't think the crowds will be that big.:confused3

If you are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Hershey, then you picked a great hotel! We have stayed there many times and it is very close to the park and really clean and helpful staff! Is this the one you booked?

Personally I'd do the big coasters and the Extreme Cup Challenge first. Then do the water atractions. DH loves the watwer slides:

I'm too chicken to try them!LOL

I have coupons for savings on admission and the 3D show, let me know if you'd like me to send them to you. You could also find them at some fast food chains.

Thanks, I'll take them! That is my hotel that you listed! Thanks for the help!

Since I'm leaving Tuesday and I'll be using my ticket on Wednesday, is it possible to use my ticket on Tuesday night?

The Boardwalk area was extremely crowded on Wednesday evening. It was quite hot that day. I suspect that with the addition of the Boardwalk, July 4 could be a different story than in years past.

BTW, the best savings on tickets are at Giant food stores. I think they discount them $11 off the regular rate. You buy them right there...something like $37.95.

Call and ask, I know the ones at the Lodge you can do the preview plan and someone posted either here or on another recent thread that they said ok to AAA tickets. So just call to be sure!
