Hello all,

I had a five-day tenting camping trip to Hershey last month. I have some great pics to share followed by my thoughts about the facility. Stay tuned...;)

Thanks for sharing your photos....so neat to see! We are heading there next year for a couple of days and will be using the shuttle to get to the park. Looks very nice!

Thanks for sharing your trip report. I love all the pictures. You did a great job of taking photos to really give all of us a sense of what the campground is really like.

Thanks guys!

I have a few more pics to post....and some tips and advice for staying there. I actually took most of the pics at 7:00 am that's why the place looks like a ghost town. ;)

I have several friends that are on the fence about camping. This was my way of showing them around....to entice them to join the craze!!! :) Hopefully they join me at my next camping trip.

Thanks guys!

I was going to ask if you were an early riser or if they had evacuated the campground for some reason.:thumbsup2

I agree, great pics. Can't wait for the rest.

great pictures thanks for sharing, campground looks very nice, WILL definately look into for next year, just did Jellystone Quarryville Pa.

Great pictures nice to be a early riser you get some great shots High Meadow is a nice campground the site area you were in is one of our favorites also like the full hook ups near the creek across from the pool.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the comments on my pics. We had a rough start to our camping trip...hence the early morning trip to the campground store for the groceries.

My first attempt at a trip report....here goes! ;)

I will introduce you to my cast and I.

Me: Candikayne
Objective: Plan as many camping and Disney trips as I can....I am either on a trip or planning a trip....nothing in between!!! That is a pic of me at the bus stop at the Caribbean Beach Resort...heading to Pleasure Island....on the last night of the Adventurers Club.

Next up....the report.

We planned to visit the Highmeadow Campground on June 30th for 4 nights to celebrate Tinabelle and Morgs' birthdays. We live in Brooklyn, NY so we decided to get our car serviced before the three hour drive to PA. It turns out that the car could not make the trip...and we learned this on the 29th. Luckily my brother in law has a van we could borrow. We got the van in the afternoon of the 30th....long after we thought our trip was doomed. Hot, annoyed, but grateful we could still go, we piled into the van...and off we went.

You see there was a lot of pressure on me because I had family on the way there that never camped before. So I had to get there by any means necessary. So anxious to arrive...we did not stop at the supermarket. That's why I got up early to get a few breakfast items at the campground store. I noticed that no one was up yet. PICTURE TIME!!! Yippee :cool1:

Anyway...after a three hour drive we finally saw this:

We made it! Safe and sound.

The check-in process is real simple. We gave our names at the desk. We got our parking permit, Sweet Pass (early access to Hershey Park) and a map to our site. Since this was not our first visit, we knew exactly where to go.

Next up-Setup

We picked the Hilltop 81B site because it was close to a comfort station, close to the playground, not to close to the train tracks (the trains do create some noise) and only had one neighbor. The other side is green grass where we can spread out and have more space. The sites are rather small...so picking a site at the end was best.

Our tent:

Tent.jpg

We bought this Coleman tent from Target for $120 back in 2007. We have used it at least 12 times (and it rains on us at every single trip) with no leaks. It is perfect for our size family. We use two queen air mattresses. One for the kids and the other for me and hubby.

This is another pic of our tent at another campground.

Tent2.jpg

Our site had electricity, water, and cable tv access. We brought a TV from home and had a comfy bedroom for rest and relaxation. See a pic of Popsy watching in the tent.

Not all sites have hook-ups. Some sites have no hook-ups at all. Our section did not have sewer drains for the RVs. Works best for Pop-ups and Tents.
