My son and I returned from WDW a week ago today. Our older son was with us for part of the trip as was his fiancee. She was able to join DS2 and I for a few meals later in our trip, too. My husband and DD were off on a different trip for her last HS spring break.

I can't do great reviews like Uncleromulus or Erikarate or some of the rest of you but would be happy to answer any questions.

One other note, DS2's idea of a perfect dinner is a cheeseburger from Polynesian room service so our dinners were a little less adventuresome than when the whole crew is there!

Breakfast: Kona x3:D , Sandtrap, Boatwright's, concierge lounge, room service at the Polynesian for DS2, and eggs and toast a la BCV23 in our villa.

Lunch: Mama Melrosex2, Grand Floridian Cafe, Le Cellier, Brown Derby, Wolfgang Puck's, RFC at AK, CRT and Mara before our flight....should have gone to Kona!

Dinner: Kona, California Grill, Earl of Sandwich, San Angel Inn, Yachtsmen's Steakhouse, B&C, room service from Polynesian and BC/BCV.

Any questions?

Looks like you must have had some good meals there. You hit some of my favorites. ;)
What did you think of Yachtmans Steakhouse? Do you think it would be good for an "anniversary dinner" on a night out without the kids?

disney queen, we ordered sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich as takeout....DS1 was flying home that evening. I called from BCV and drove over on Buena Vista Drive..never again. I'll take my back roads from now on.

Anyway, it was just OK. DS1 had the Caribbean Jerk sandwich which he liked. His fiancee had the Hawaiian wrap which she said was good. I had the Beef n' Bleu. The blue cheese was good, the beef was better than in most beef sandwiches but the bread didn't have much taste. Did have a good texture though. Perhaps the blue cheese overpowered the bread but my son agreed.
DS2 had a cheeseburger from BCV rom service.:D

One other thing...I called and placed the order but when I paid for it, I realized that the cost was too low for 3 sandwiches. Checked the bag and sure enough there were only the two hot ones in there. The girl at the register told me I had to go pick up the cold wrap from the cooler myself. A goofy kind of takeout IMO. The manager told me to just pick it up and come back to the head of the line to pay.....a long, long line!

I may try it again some day if we are in the Village and want to pick up something quick but won't go out of my way. The price is great though. Hot sandwiches are $4.95, cold ones $3.95 and wraps are $4.45.

Camcolt, we enjoyed the YSH as usual. The restaurant was very busy and although we waited only a couple of minutes, service was really, really slow. It took for ever before our waiter first appeared, perhaps 15 minutes for our beverages after that, half hour for our entrees, etc.. I ordered a second glass of wine and again it was probably 15 minutes. By then, I had finished my entree and probably should have just sent it back. Instead I left half of it. Anyway, dinner was an hour and a half and we only had entrees.

Anyway, I had the filet mignon. Very tender and tasty and cooked as ordered. My son's fiancee had the special catch of the day. I think it was tilapia in a potato crust. She said it was excellent. DS2 had a cheeseburger from room service.:D

We've never had such slow service there before. It may have been that the Easter crowd was building as this was 4/1.

I think it would be a nice place for an anniversary dinner as long as you know there will be families there, too. The table next to us included two darling babies.

Thanks for the info! Sounds great, except the slowness, but even thats ok as long as we dont have our kids with us. :D I dont mind other kids being around...its my own that drive me nuts. ;)

How was dinner at the San Angel Inn? We have a PS there and I am really looking forward to it, I guess just because of the atmosphere. But we do like mexican food also.
::yes::

It was great. DSF had the Plato Mexicano which she enjoyed. DS2 had the mahi mahi which I always order for him these days. He loves it. I had the chicken mole which I also love...it has a nice bite to it. There are lots of chunks of chicken in the sauce which are super. The chicken breast itself isn't as infused with the sauce so I get to it last. The waiter thought the dish was too spicy for me since I left much of the breast. Nope, just too large of a serving for me. We also split the queso fundido as an appetizer. These days it comes with just two tortillas...for many years it was four...but I asked if we could get the dish for the three of us. The waiter said sure, they would do it however folks wanted it. Our family has loved this appetizer since EPCOT opened. It is filling though. Service was very good and the atmosphere is always pretty to me.

Tell me about breakfast at Boatwrights!

This was our last morning and at first I planned to make eggs in our villa so I hadn't made a PS (had actually cancelled one there earlier in our stay). Anyway, my DS2 signed that he wanted pancakes that morning and since it was his birthday, pancakes it would be. We were told the wait would be 5-10 minutes which in Disney speak usually means about 90 seconds in our experience.:D This morning, it meant 15 minutes. I heard others saying that the food court was really backed up. This was 4/2 and again I think the Easter crowd was building.

Anyway, DS2 did have pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs. They looked very fluffy and moist and he loved them. I had the Blueprint omelet which was great again. Thanks to Uncleromulus again for this recommendation. Service was friendly but a little discumbobulated and slow. I really don't think restaurants were ready for the Easter crowds as we only experienced this at the very end of our trip.

We'll be back.:D

I'd like to know your experiences at Mama Melrose, Le Cellier, and California Grill. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back! I'd love to hear about the Grand Floridian Cafe, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Pucks, California Grill, and B&C. :)

I'll take these one at a time since I always seem to lose longer answers?

We all love Mama Melrose for lunch. Both times this trip however it was just DS2 and me. Our visits were a week apart. First visit my son wanted spaghetti which he loved. It's not on the menu but you can always order it. I had the pepperoni and peppers flatbread which is a favorite of ours. We shared the field greens salad. Everything was great although I liked the dressing they used to have better than the one we've had our last couple of trips...current version has a little more oil and a little less vinegar than I prefer.

Second trip we shared the pepperoni pizza and salad as well as an order of calamari. The calamari is excellent here. Light and crispy coating with very tender and finely sliced calamari. The dipping sauce this day didn't have the same bite I remember....more lke a regular marinara sauce. I liked the spicier sauce.

We had EXCELLENT service both times...Kevin the first and Dori the second visit. They are both so very friendly and efficient to boot. We always request them.

California Grill is another favorite and on our must do list. We dined here on Friday as we were confident we could find lot's of meatless dishes that we would enjoy.

For first courses we had the shrimp and avocado salad, the goat cheese ravioli, the golden beet appetizer (liked it better when it also had rosy beets), and a sushi appetizer for DS1 that Wendi offered...he didn't want any particular combo on the menu that night. Instead she let him order two each of three different types.

For entrees, two chose the triple cheese flatbread with sundried tomatoes. I had a taste too and love the current version. One chose the romaine salad for an entree and I had the potato and garlic ravioli with spicy bell pepper ragout. This was way too bland for me.

Wendi was excellent.

At Le Cellier, I finally tried the cheddar cheese soup that so many here love. I had been doing some shopping:D while the other three rode Test Track. I was early and they were a few minutes late as TT broke down while they were beyond the point of no return. The kind folks at Le Cellier seated me while I waited so I decided to try it. Glad I did but probably won't order it again.

For lunch one son had the prime rib French dip and the other a cheeseburger. Both were enjoyed. DSF and I had the Toronto Chicken sandwich. She had ordered it before but I hadn't. We really couldn't taste the cheese or canadian bacon....had trouble even locating them when we investigated:D . It didn't taste as good to her as the last time she ordered it and I probably won't order it again. Too many other yummy looking choices.

Service was great. Can't find my bill though so can't tell you the server's name but she did a very nice job.

California Dreaming, I know you enjoy the GFC too. We almost always have lunch here at least once on a MK day. Glad it will be open for dinner again.

Anyway, we ordered the shrimp and pasta, tilapia with mango sticky rice (DS1 really enjoyed this..his fiancee recommended it), tuna on whole wheat instead of Challah with French onion soup and... a cheeseburger.:D Everyone was very happy with their choices and service was great.....Rogerio was our server. It is such a pretty room that we always love settling in there for lunch after a hectic morning at the Mk.

I think your reviews are fine!!!
Looks like you'll wind up doing a full set in spite of your initial post :D :D :D
I'd like to hear about bkfst at the Sand Trap, and Kona for dinner.
You are probably right--sounds like they were not expecting any sort of the crowds they had.

Wolfgang Puck has been a favorite spot for lunch for us but we skipped it last trip after a mediocre experience last summer. This time was a little better. The folks at the podium were very friendly but our server wasn't the best. Didn't tell us of the specials...heard them later from the server at an adjacent table. Offered refills on our drinks only after they were empty for a while, etc..

My son had the four cheese pizza which he loved. I had the Spicy Chicken pizza which I didn't find in the least spicy and it was served lukewarm:rolleyes: . Don't know if this was the kitchen's fault or the server's but I have a pretty good idea. It did have a nice fresh flavor however. We also had calamari as an appetizer. Not nearly as good as Mama Melrose and the sauce that accompanied it was too sweet for me. Not a good combo. All in all too much food. The server described the flatbreads as about 8 inches across. More like 10 or 11, I'd guess. I should have remembered the size of the flatbreads and skipped the calamari.

DS2 loves shopping at Virgin Megastore and having lunch at WP so I'm sure we'll be back sometime but we might try Bongo's next trip.

Thanks, Uncleromulus, but I know they don't contain all the great details you are always able to include.

We really love Kona for dinner. This was the first meal of our trip and DS1 wasn't in FL at that point. All three of us ordered the macadamia crusted mahi mahi. It is sooo good. I ordered mashed potaoes for my son while DSF and I had the sticky rice that normally accompanies it. The veggies are always excellent too and cooked perfectly.

The food is so good here and the prices are perhaps $10 less per entree than restaurants with the same quality IMO. Good service as usual. Sandie was our server as I recall.

The Sandtrap is a nice place to go for a leisurely breakfast. My husband and sons have ordered carryout here when they've been playing golf and we've all enjoyed lunch here a few times over the years. This was my first time for breakfast.

When we arrived there were a few men having breakfast at the bar. We were the only ones at a table throughout our breakfast although a couple of people came in and ordered take-out.

My son had pancakes with scrambled eggsand sausage (patty style) which he enjoyed. I had poached eggs, crispy bacon and toast which I enjoyed. I didn't care for the hash browns. They were triangles that had been deepfried I guess. Sort of the consistency of Tater Tots although they tasted better than that!:D

Our server was very friendly. This is not a place to go if you're itching to get to a park opening but a relaxing spot with a beautiful view. They open for breakfast at 6:30 and serve sandwiches until 5:30.
