I hear a lot of grumbling on here about how much time teenagers spend on the computer and playing video games....It warms my heart to walk by my 16 year old DS'S room at 11:00 pm on a Friday night....

I've never heard of grumbling because of teenagers in front of the TV or computer at 11 o'clock at night. The grumbling I've heard is over kids (usually younger than teens) who do little else but plop down in front of the computer or TV when they get home from school and then face obesity or creativity issues.

whoa Quackmore I think you need to settle down a bit.

My parents thought it was a good idea to "force me" to stay home with my friends playing Nintendo and babysitting my siblings while they went out. It would keep us from trouble or hanging out at the mall. Until I eventually clued them into what we were doing/drinking while playing nintendo

I think the opposite. It does my heart good to see my 14 & 15 yr. olds out in the field behind my house on a friday night playing football with all of their friends. As a matter of fact - thats where they are right now as I type this. I'll be making lots of hot chocolate for all of them in about a half hour.

My kids were out playing football then basketball then snowball fight. THEN they came in and played video games. I love both indoor and outdoor activities. What I DON'T want is for them to be out joyriding and who knows what. And THAT's the intention of the OP, imho!!!
