Have a trip planned in February. Staying at SOG and going to Disney, but would like to go to Seaworld one day. My husband qualifies for the offer as a drilling reservist. The problem is that it states "dependents ages 10 and older must present valid dependent ID". My children and I don't have a dependent idS. Do they really ask to see these?? Two of my children are over 10 and of course myself. I don't think we will have time to get id's before we leave. Would like to advantage of this great offer for military, but don't want to be turned away once we get there. I wonder if my drivers license would work? Thanks to anyone who would know if this is going to be a problem.

I would call SeaWorld and ask..best advice I can offer.

Is your Husband going with you?

I go to SeaWorld ever year on this Military special, and all they need to see is MY military ID.

The only reason that you and your children would need an ID would be if you are going to use that offer, and your Husband will not be attending with you..

Hope that clears it up a little for you!

We've done this the past 2 yrs. the first summer they asked to see mine and DS along with DH, but last summer the guy looked really quick at DH's and didn't seem to concerned with it. It depends who you come across, don't think I'd chance it.
It doesn't take long to go to your local base and get your ID's, I'd recommend that before you go, besides your ID's come in handy besides for just that. When your DH can't be with you for check-in's at hotels or other discounts yours will really come in handy!;)

My husband is going, but apparently the whole party over 10 needs to have an id. The following quote is from the seaworld website. Hopefully we will have time to get id's before we leave, just in case. Hope this helps someone else who is planning on going that does'nt have dependent id's. You need to get them!!!

"Along with completed registration form, applicant must present valid, active-duty Military/Service ID; dependents ages 10 and over must present valid Dependent ID."

I've used this offer twice...once in Sea World (2006) and this past summer at Sesame Place. My husband wasn't with me at Sea World and I just showed my military ID. Sesame Place, my husband was with me and he showed his...I had mine, but they said it wasn't necessary. Maybe it depends on the person you get at the gate, but both times they were very friendly. Also, I misplaced my registration for Sesame Place and I emailed them to ask what I should do. They emailed back and assured me that it would be okay...just to bring my ID. Both times it was SOOOO easy. If you were alone (without dh) then I would suggest getting an ID made. If Dh will be with you, then it shouldn't be a problem. I've never had a really long wait to get my IDs done...maybe try first thing in the morning?? Also, my kids are 8,4,3,1...so they won't need IDs, but I don't remember DH telling me the age for ID was 10. For some reason I'm thinking it was 13, but then again I could be wrong. If you can't get your kid's IDs, then I would definitely at least try to get one for you. This is too good of an offer to miss. Have fun!!!

Last summer when we went, they made a big fuss over us not having DS's ID card. He was 14 at the time.

I didn't think to bring his because it had never been an issue before.
So this summer if we go, I am bringing both kids ID cards.

I guess it varies, we've used this every year, and every year we've been asked to see our id's. The problem with the over 10 thing, is children who's parents are active duty HAVE to have an id at the age of 10. We got one for our son who turned 10 last year, and we got one for my step daughter, she got her's before 10, but that's because she doesn't live with us, and for medical insurance purposes. But, Kids 10 and over are required to have a dependents ID. It's probably different for reservists, but I'm not sure of that aspect of it.

A new company owns the park so I would go by the rules you see now. They mnay not be as lenient as AB was. Things are beginning to change a little in the parks.

Well I guess this will be the last year for my daughter...she will be 9 during our upcoming visit. I didn't know we could get the IDs done for them now. My daughter visits her bio father on some weekends and I would like to have her have her own ID for insurance purposes. Do I need to request this...show visitation order??

To the opening poster...I think it might be safe to get everyone that qualifies an ID....just in case. I had great experiences both times and two different parks. But, some people did have some problems.

Why don't you have an ID card? I guess I don't understand reserve status because my husband is active duty. I have to use my ID card everytime I go onto his base or shop on base. I also use my ID card when I have to go to a doctor off-base.

I've used this offer before but I was military married to military and of course we showed both of our IDs.

I wouldn't risk it. It's not hard to get your ID if you are eligible for one. It only takes a few minutes (plus the amount of time you have to wait in line).

You could ask Sea World if they'd accept a copy of your husband's orders, they should have all of your names on it. Then you could show your driver's license to prove who you are.

The easiest way would just to get an ID made though!

i haven't seen the military special for sea world. does it include retired military?

Me and my kids don't have ID's either, and we get hassled every time we go but we have never been denied access. I'm trying to see if I can get them this year. They aren't open all the time because DH isn't on an active Duty base. The Navy left a while ago and its just used for Reserves and other missions. He is full time Air National Guard (it's his full time Mon-Fri job in addition to his part time guards).

We just got back from Busch Gardens in Williamsburg VA and we had a problem because me and the kids don't have IDs. We had to wait for a while and then a manager came in and she let us thru. I did have my driver's liscense with me that they ended up looking at.

We went to Busch Gardens in Tampa in 2006 and we had no problems.

I guess we will make the appt. on base to get our ID's.

Good Luck.

When we were there a couple of weekends ago, they were asking EVERYONE in the military lines to have their ID's out...and they said if you DON'T have an ID, then you'd have to pay for admission. Must be new, I've never had this problem before.

We went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in August, and didn't have any problems. My hubby is MC Reserves, but I have an ID because we happen to live near a major Navy base and I use it often.

My oldest DD was 11 at the time of our trip. She had her ID with her, but left it in the car and we didn't think of it until after we had trekked across the huge parking lot and gotten in line. Luckily, they did not ask for hers (or mine!).

As a matter of fact, we must've lucked out and gotten the nicest BG employee on earth because even though the offer specifically states that you get only FOUR people in for free, and we are a family of five, she did not have us pay ANYTHING for our youngest DD. We were totally shocked and told her Thank You! And she said, Thank YOU for your service to this country. :)

PS: We got our DD the ID as soon as she was eligible, and will do the same for our other children. I think, since you never know what bad things can happen, it is a good idea for your child to have some sort of official ID with them whenever possible. Just my $.02.
