How does this work exactly? And what type of postcards are sent? And your kids get them prior to cruise date correct? I may have more questions but I'll wait and see an explanation first. Thanks all!

...and yes, usually you get a postcard prior your cruise if someone offers you to send one to your kids. Usually there are Mickey and Minnie postcard, but you can request postcards of some other Disney characters like Disney Princesses...then someone who offered you to send your kids a postcard writes a message on them and send them from the ship or Castaway Cay. This was our first experience for our first cruise in May. We requested cards for the children. A wonderful DISer sent a PM offering to send postcards. As soon as we received the offer, we did edit our post to include "request fulfilled" so that the Fairy Godmothers would fulfill other requests.

They purchased Disney postcards and filled them out to our kids with a personal message as if from one of the characters. I have read that you can mail the postcards from anywhere. Some mail out from CC and the Orlando airport has a postal station as well. Our children thought it was so cool to receive a postcard before the cruise. Just a little extra pixie dust the kids really enjoyed!

Before you go!! Someone who sails before you sends them and may include a message saying something like "we can't wait to see you on board" or include a special note if they celibrate a birthday or something!!

In return you try and pay it forward and continue spreading the pixie dust by sending a few cards to others that will be sailing after you!!

We did this last year when we went to WDW and our kids thought it was neat that Mickey and the princess' knew they were comming and were waiting to see them!!
Then we sent about 6 cards to others while we were there!!

When you request your postcard tell in your post when you go on your cruise. Most of the time people who are going on the cruise before you will offer to send you a post card so it should come before your cruise. As I heard postcards from CC take up to 5 weeks to get to you.

But there is no guarantee that postcard will be in your mailbox before your sailing.

I would love it if someone would send postcards to my three kids. I just sent postcards to someone on my own cruise that I actually brought back from my last cruise....but I can't very well send them to my own kids So is there anyone who would be kind enough to pm me and help me out?
