Next, look at the points chart for the WDW DVC resort that interests you. Select the unit size and dates for your desired trip. Add up the number of points you expect to need for your stay.

Studios & 1BR units will sleep up to 4 people plus a child in a pack n play crib. 2BRs will sleep up to 8 plus crib.

You'll notice that OKW requires fewer points that the others and Fri/Sat nights cost more than weeknights. Most DVC members want $10 per point for a rental. If the total price for your stay seems reasonable, go to the next step...

Just out of curiosity, I just checked on renting points for our upcoming trip in November (assuming the needed points would be available at this stage).

2 BR at OKW for 6 nites Nov. 2-8. 24 points for Sunday - Thursday. 56 points for Friday. Total of 176 points x $10/point = $1760.

We are currently booked in a 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath condo at Windsor Palms for $90/nite plus a $65 cleaning fee (because we are staying less than 7 nites). Total = $605.

Difference between 2 bedrooms onsite and 3 bedrooms offsite is $1155 cheaper offsite.

I know - there are things onsite that are different than offsite, but that's a big difference to us.

Steve,
I think that we will all conceed that it is less expensive to stay off-site than it is to stay onsite. But some people still prefer to stay onsite and are willing to pay the extra $$$ to do so.

However, if you want to compare prices for onsite accommodations, renting DVC points for a 2-bedroom villa is still less expensive than getting 2 rooms at a moderate and certainly less expensive than making a ressie directly with Disney for the same villa.

Example:
2 rooms at POR (Nov 2-8) is $1980.24 with taxes.
2 bedroom villa at OKW (renting points; Nov. 2-8) is $1760
2 bedroom villa at OKW thru WDTC (Nov 2-8) is $3190.14

It all boils down to the price that you're willing to pay for pixie dust.

Absolutely. Renting DVC points is certainly the best way to go for the onsite accomodations. Having a 2-br villa is much better, in my opinion, than having 2 regular rooms. You get the kitchen facilities and don't have to run back and forth between rooms.

I can't fathom anyone paying $3200 for a villa through WDTC! Nearly double the price with renting points.
