I just looked at the clock and I realize that this isn't exactly the time of day for this topic, but....that never stopped me before.

My kid has a big old wart on his toe and the doctor gave what I thought was unusual and funny advice. It involves using a pumice stone (normal) and then covering it with duct tape!

So as he's being very serious and explaining this, I get this funny thought and had to really stifle my laughter...because he's being really serious. I'm thinking how it's true what they say about guys being able to fix everything with duct tape! Hey, at least he's not a surgeon!

So anyway, has anyone really tried this and had success, or not, with it?

I've heard part of the key to getting rid of warts is to suffocate them - no air or light, don't let them breathe - so the drs advice makes sense. :)

I had my 'talked' off. It worked and have not come back in 20 years. DH thinks I am absolutely crazy.

Oh, another thing. My ds also had them and we used an awesome product!! It's called MedPlast and at Target we just asked the pharmacist for it (it's behind the counter, but doesn't require a prescription.) Anyway, it's a little sheet of medicated tape stuff (like my descriptipon? LOL!) You just cut a little piece off and stick it on the wart. We covered his with a bandaid - so sort of the same concept the dr told you, only we added some wart killer to it. :) Worked wonders for us!!!

Your doctor isn't crazy!!

Duct tape is THE best way to get rid of a wart ::yes::

Okay, I have to ask. How long are you supposed to wear the duct tape?

It worked for me and my cousin. We scrubbed the wart with a pumice stone, put clear nail polish on it and covered it with duct tape. It went away after doing this for 2 weeks and hasn't come back in years!!!

I'm not sure about the duct tape as all my warts were gone before this new treatment came out a few yrs ago. But make sure he soaks his foot about 10 min then rubs gently w/ the stone. I did this but used compound W and bandaids instead of duct tape. But alot of people have reported on this board that the duct tape works!

I have also read that the combination of compound W (sticky circle with salicylic acid in it) and duct tape works even better. I am about to do this on my dd. Hope it works.

I'm sorry, but after reading this thread all I can think of is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the father uses Windex to fix everything that ails you!

But, it's good to know that you can use duct tape for warts - I'll have to tell DFi...
