I've searched and searched looking for Bobby....may have spotted the back of his head, but you know that there's probably 50 other moms saying the exact same thing!

You know whenever I see a picture like this of anxious soldiers milling around for mailcall, my heart just aches thinking that some of them may walk away empty handed.

I'm going to write my soldier another letter right now. Poor thing is probably sick of hearing me blabbing about my golf game, the Red Sox and my grandchildren:D :D :D

just read on the newspaper site:

As a result of being attached to another unit, Marines here have been given two totally different addresses. It all reaches them -- it's been difficult to determine which address has faster service. One package may arrive in just more than two weeks, another may take six weeks. There are plenty of Marines expecting overdue packages and letters from both addresses

TwinMom7 please let us know if there is change in addy for Bobby's unit.....would like to see them get the mail without delays

This address issue came up at last night's Family Support Meeting. Bobby serves under Gunnery Sgt. David Zupsich. I spoke to his wife last night and she told me that David and Bobby have the exact same address and the one I've been using is correct. I'll continue to use it until I get a letter from Bobby telling me to change his address, 'cause he's not getting his mail!!!

Wow, that is great. Some of those packages are HUGE! I am so glad they get to enjoy them. I will be sending out some more packages next week.

Not sure that you are aware of this, but when those of us here in South Bend first found out that he would be embedded with our unit, there was an article introducing him to the families of the Marines. He basically told us why he wanted to do this and what he knew it would mean to the families left behind.

The last line of the article told us that "like one of the Marines who found out last week that he was leaving a pregnant wife behind, I received the same news earlier this week."

So besides all of the prayers and well wishes going out to Bobby and members of this unit, please keep Fred and his wife in your prayers also.;)

Well, bless him. Bittersweet feelings for him, I imagine.

FigmentVI I was going to say the same thing about the photo. I look at those Marines standing there and I think, how sad they must feel when there is nothing for them in the mail. Even if they know that they have no family or friends who would send packages, there has to still be the thought that maybe one of those packages is for them. And then there is always the disappointment when they realize that they are left out.

I wonder what my husband would think if I was to start sending packages every day? What is the record for number of soldiers adopted? I should get some more names, maybe. I can't stand to think of those brave men not getting mail :(

I had meant to post the info on Fred Dodd in a new thread, so you'll probably see it more than once. ;)

You guys are sooooo right about some of these Marines probably not receiving something. It is sad to think of that. I know that it gets very expensive to send packages, but even a funny little card, or letters from school kids, or some sport sections from a local newspaper...those would give them something to read and make them feel not so forgotten.

You people here are just the best!!!!!!!!:bounce:

Patty,
I hope Bobby doesn't mind but as I was packing the box for him, my 2 year old shoved in some blue balloons. She had to have a pack of blue balloons when we went to the store so when she saw me putting things into a box, she insisted on adding those balloons. So I tried to make a quick note on the back of a card we included for him explaining why they are in there. Hope he doesn't mind or think we are weird! I hope it makes him smile!

That's so cute about the the balloons! :) I bet they will have creative fun with them! LOL

I found a mini etch-a-sketch. My boys were kidding that they could draw the war plans, except when there was a "circle around", cuz you can't do circles on an etch a sketch. :D :D

But anyway, Patty, thanks for giving us a way to share. it really does our hearts good.

I wanted to include bubbles to Titus, but my lovely 12 yr old DS informed me that I was being really immature! So, I didnlt send any this time. I tries to explain that when people are bored, any little thing can help, but he just rolled his eyes.

I'm about ready to ship another box out to Bobby. Sure hope he got my last one.

By the way, not only do I think I also see the back of Bobby's head but I think I also see my package being delivered to the guy with the cute "back of the head!" ;)

I have to say I read all your posts and updates. I look forward to hearing news and knowing we are all helping in what little ways we can. Thank you
