Ok, umm.... for the past 3 days my tongue has been over sensitive. You know that feeling after you burn it on coffee or hot chocolate? Well I didn't burn it on anything and it's very sensitive almost to the point of hurting. What the heck could I have done to it? Any ideas?

My mouth swells when I eat something I'm allergic to...like walnuts and citrus.

Have you had toast recently? Usually when I eat toast, like with a club sandwich, my mouth and tongue get over sensitive and almost hurts. Just a thought.

Sounds like thrush to me. I'd call my doc to be on the safe side.

Is your mouth or throat sore? Thrush is usually pretty easy to spot - white gunk in your mouth/throat, sore mouth/throat, difficulty swallowing. I would call your doctor and have it checked out.

any little white bumps on your tongue? It could be that you're sloughing some taste buds. Sometimes that hurts a lot.

I agree with this. Somtimes I'll get on a surgery candy jag (runts, bottle caps, sweet tarts etc) and my tongue and mouth might get sore.

I recently had some sour ice breakers and they made my tonque bloody and I couldnt eat without pain for 2 days.

I had something similar about 6 months ago. It felt like my tongue was sunburned. I googled it and found burning mouth syndrome so I realized I wasn't going nuts. Try searching burning tongue for more info. I told my dentist and he said sometimes it is caused by a lack of B vitamins so I added a B complex vitamin pill to my diet and the problem went away.

It is a weird sensation. Good luck to you.
