ok...DH is now much much better!! he's still a little bit weak at times, but over all, doing alright. we figured out that he had a version of the flu...it's now settled in his chest. but his appetite is normal and we're ready to try this atkins thing again!

we went to the store today and i told him there's no way that i could do any eggs again. i was so sick of eggs by day 3 that i thought i would die!! so, we bought hamburger and i'm going to make hamburger patties and freeze them. that way i can have one at breakfast or take one for lunch. we also bought some of the thin sliced steaks...that should really help me through the breakfast fits...and also more veggies! i looked at diet rite at my store, but didn't buy any...i did buy some sugar free jello though.

oh yay...i'll get that lovely flavor back in my mouth again...yippee...can you tell i'm just oh so excited about that? :p

Good luck!

Try to remember that it is only for 2 weeks. In the overall scheme of things, that is a relatively short amount of time.

Maybe try to scour the internet for some interesting breakfast ideas. Do you just hate eggs all together? I made a really tasty, easy low carb breakfast one day this week. I cracked one egg in a bowl, and added the smallest amount of milk so it would fluff. I microwaved it for just short of 1 min. Added fat free (you could use regular) cheese and mushrooms. Didn't need to cook the cheese or mushrooms because they got hot and soft from the eggs. It was very tasty.
Canadian Bacon, Turkey bacon, even regular bacon would work. Lunch meat (like turkey or ham) with cream cheese spread in the middle.

I also am not sure what is allowed on the first phase of Atkins. Maybe no cheese for all I know. If no cheese, then maybe lettuce wrapped inside the lunch meat.

Good luck,
Melanie

The best of luck ~ I know that you can both do it!!!!

GOOD LUCK!

Sending some healthy feeling pixie dust to your DH!

I know you guys will make it through induction smoothly! You are well prepared and are working together as a team, so you can REALLY do this!!! Have fun! ;)

DH lost 25 lbs on Atkins and he used everything you can imagine to flavor those eggs! LOL! His favorite was picante in them. I would bake bacon in the oven (I hate to fry it) and then pop it in the freezer a pound or two at the time so he could have it whenever he wanted. I also fried sausage crumbles and put them in the freezer so he could take them out and make an omlete.

Good luck! And I know what you mean about that great taste in your mouth...blech!!!

thanks for the support (again)! we'll get through it...

i just can't eat eggs every single day. i don't mind them, but if i don't cook them, then i usually don't like them. if that makes any sense...i like them scrambled with a bit of cheese and some kind of meat to them...i can do that, i just can't do it every day.

this morning, i made some hamburger patties for us for breakfast. i'm not feeling hungry yet, so that's good! when we went to the store yesterday, we bought some meats to cook up in advance and then freeze. that's what i'm going to do tonight i think. i have a whole pound of turkey bacon to make!

Hi Brandie, I was back on Atkins last week, and found the best thing for breakfast for me was cheese. I know you shouldn't OD on cheese, but I find if I have an ounce or 2 I can wait until lunch to eat regular food. I can eat eggs maybe 1 or 2 times a week max. And have you tried the mock danish? It's quick and easy and a great way to disguise eggs.
Lora

i plan to try the mock danish...i just haven't made it to the store to get the ingredients! when we were at the store on sunday, i couldn't for the life of me remember what was in it so i didn't buy anything. but i plan to! i like traditional breakfast foods...pastries, etc and if i can find something to cure that craving for me, but still be appropriate for this program, then i'd be in heaven!
